Hmm back again after 6 months of no issues. Pilot light went out again, thankfully it came back on with these instructions. What could be causing it to randomly shut off?

Oh geeze I missed this comment, sorry. Model # of heater. Put that in either Amazon or Google with the model code and the words "spare door" If you hv a common model it should pop up right away with mupltiple sources.
I can get mine to light and the burner will light up and stay burning for few minutes but goes out and does not reignite. Have to relight pilot and repeat process.
Could be lack of air to the burner. There are tiny vents on the bottom the heater that supply the burner with air. Clean thoses, you can actually purchase a furnace brush for this on Amazon or a hardware store. Try this first, hope it helps.
When i turn the temp up, is my flame supposed to expand a whole lot? Mine does and im worried too much gas is coming through or somthing. I don't want a explosion
The pilot light flame should not expand. They simply ignite the burner so if your seeing flame increase shut it off and call an HVAC service company because that doesn't sound good in any way. To my knowledge the furnace burner you shouldn't be able to see in any way. Let the HVAC co know what's going on in detail.
Could there be air on the gas line and need to hold the button down a bit longer to purge the line? It's what the tech did when replacing the whole unit, but I don't know if that could happen if the line was not disconnected.
Started following your instructions and had to stop when testing my green pilot ignitor button to look for a spark. Result is no visible spark. Next step? Call a technician?
How long should it take the burner to turn on? I can light up the pilot, turn the know to the on position and the pilot light stays on, but I don’t see the burner lighting up.
Should come on right away unless water temp is above temp setting. Once your temp setting is made just a few seconds. Depending on model it could be different. If not on in 30 seconds then you should call an HVAC maintenance company to check it out.

@@alexceballos4438 Theres a thermocoupler in there that get dirty, sometimes the pilot ight pipe clogged as well

No sir, try pushing the gas button down anyway to see if it ignites, I couldn’t see the pilot spark either
