I’m 5’6”, same inseam and I went for the 54cm. That’d probably be a right fit for you as well, considering that this bike is still a hair big for me. If you’re committed to a Cutthroat, a friendly (keyword there) local bike shop would probably be game to order both sizes you’re in between and get you fitted on what feels best, if you bought from them. They’re on sale right now! Jump on it!
@@MeowHikesthanks!! Yeah thats why I wanna get one, LBS has one but only 56cm left on deep discount since it was also demo. I’ll have to look around for a 54
@@willschmidt7311 you try riding it? See how it feels, make sure you’re not too stretched out on it. It’s always hard for me to tell right away, but when I err on the side of smaller I’m usually happy unless it just feels crunched. Maybe they can get a 54 in for you!
@@MeowHikes yeah I tried a 54 a month back before it went on sale it felt solid but didn’t know if I should atleast try a 56, especially since its on a deeper discount Also hows it fare tor bikepacking? Did you wrap it up with helicopter tape or anything? Kinda worried about paint if i put handlebar bag on
@@willschmidt7311 the helicopter tape works great, the paint is soft on these bikes, so just tape it up right away if you want it to stay nice. I also installed a Swood Cycles T-Bar, and that keeps my handlebar bag off the head tube. I also rock a Tailfin Aeropack on the rear and a Rogue Panda frame bag, and it all works awesome together. Absolutely love this bike, might get a second wheel set + suspension fork for getting rowdy. Excellent bikepacking bike and I’ve stopped worrying so much about it being carbon.
FYI-your music is twice as loud as your dialog / narration. I rode a Cutthroat at the local bike shop today and I have never had a bike feel so natural to me.
Thanks for the heads up. I tried to mix it according to the audio levels, and it sounded fine in headphones, I’ll have to look into it. Yeah the Cutthroat feel so good to ride for me too. I’ve taken it bikepacking loaded up and it feels amazing while weight on it as well! Can’t wait to take it on more trips in the desert this winter
Great review! Salsa does not provide the weight on its website. I think of two possible reasons. First, their manufacturing variance is too big. Due to low standard quality control, Salsa cannot post a reasonable weight. Two, Salsa is ashamed of its weight. Cutthroat doesn't have a suspension, but perhaps it weights as much as or more than a lightweight hardtail. That what I deduce from the lack of the weight spec. I had interest on Cutthroat, but not anymore.
Right on! Bikepacking is awesome!
That’s my best friend!
I need to get me a bike man that looks so fun man
Are you thinking of doing the tour divide?☺️
Not Tour Divide race but the GDMBR

Have heard the Cutthroat is a real comfortable ride. Would like to try one.
Can I ask whats the model year and frame size please
@@carerra911 2023 (still current) 54cm. It ended up being a little too big still for me at 5’6”
@@MeowHikes Thanks Pal!
