    A helpful video, thanks guys. Although a 'close up' when you're cutting the ignition and attaching the fuse would be helpful for us novices!! :)

    I spoke to our technician, Yes, If you use steering controls it generates a supply from the canbus system :)

    Here is what he does on the 12v cigarette lighter part:
    -Cut a 2 inch piece of red wire
    -Cut the black wire going to the cig socket
    -Twist 1 end of short red wire and 1 end of black wire together and put this into a butt connector
    -Put the other bare end of black wire into the other side of the butt connector
    Now you have a short piece of red wire tapped into the black wire
    -Put a female spade connector on the bare end of the short red wire
    -Put a female spade connector on the bare end of the long red wire
    -Plug a 10amp blade fuse into these connectors
    Done.

    Yesterday finally received the parts needed to replace the default radio from the Corsa, which found itself replaced with a Kenwood Bluetooth/Ipod/USB model (BT43U). The total replacement took me about an hour and after which the caraudio had undergone dramatic changes in sound quality for the better. Thanks again for the video as it wouldnt have been so easy to do withouth it!
    Best Regards

    yes the stereo comes on with igniition with red wire plugged and yellow wired plug together with wiring supplied with sony head unit,i studied your video and was quite dubious whether i was able to do so being that you needed 12 volt feed,i bought connects 2 steering interface adaptor and googled more info on this and yes it states it provides 12 volt ign feed so i was very pleased with end result,however found your video very helpful also

    Great video, thanks for sharing with us. At the point where you connect the ignition... it's a bit "blurry", not clear what to do. All I did was just shrink the red cable, disconnect the cigarette lighter and push the red cable it into the cig lighter connection where the cables are, push it into the end where the black cable goes to and then simply reconnect the cigarette lighter. I didn't cut anything, easier to connect and it works just fine.

    Thanks for the guide, just done mine :D
    The 12v cig lighter is easy, pull it out, cut the black wire, reattach with the red wire from the stereo, there's loads of ways to do it, and you could even use Scotch Locks and you wouldn't have to actually cut any wires, though they're hit and miss in my experience, I just cut, stripped, twisted and soldered them.

    Great video and really helpful but I was still left with a few questions,
    What about the pink cable in the adaptor?
    What size fuse?
    Where does the blue cable on the areal connect to on the converter block?
    More research and I now have the answers I need so doing mine today.
    I’ll upload a video to help others - Especially those who commented that it was difficult to see what was done to get the switched feed from the back of the cigarette charger.

    Just in case anyone is confused, you DO NOT NEED to wire a ignition source, it is only for feeding the radio a little bit of power for keeping it's memory or preferences (For example, everytime you turn your car off, it won't keep the bass level at your choosing and the treble at whatever level you chose before, you will just have to keep putting them back up everytime you start your car). The radio still gets power when you start your car even without a ignition source.

    • @mtred8849
      @mtred8849 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Can assure you that’s not the case on my Corsa mate. The switched power cable (red one) has to have a live feed in order to lower the stereo on.

  • @ednuttah
    @ednuttah 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Not that anyone is interested but I fitted mine, never needed a cigarette connection, just replaced the old one with the new one. However! Vauxhall in ALL their wisdom FORCE you to buy a converter connector because they do not support ISO as standard even though ISO stands for International Standards Organisation! Still I works and I could have avoided the whole connector by simply barrier blocking each lead from the data & power supply to the stereo, but that would have been a LONG mission! So for £10 from Amazon I an't complaining, just for everyone's information here, the replacing of the new facia is a bit of a bitch to go back in and does go in but requires a proper sssqqquuuueeezze!

    I believe this is what he his doing when messing with the cigarette lighter. However I do have a question.
    1. Cuts the ignition wire from the car to the cigarette lighter
    2. Strips each end to expose the copper then twists and folds over the ignition cable closest to the cigarette lighter input connector (the plug basically)
    *PUTS ALL OTHER CABLES BACK IN THE DASH AND CUTS 2" OF RED CABLE FROM HEAD UNIT WIRING*
    3. Strip each end of that 2" red cable
    4. Twist one end of the 2" red stripped cable with the ignition cable closest to the cigarette lighter input connector
    5. Crimp the butt connector with the connected 2 wires (trimming if too long)
    6. Crimp the other end of the butt connector back to the ignition wire coming from the car which was originally the ignition wire straight from the car to the cigarette lighter.
    7. Twists the only stripped unconnected end available (red 2" wire) and crimp with butt connector
    8. Add that little fuse thing
    *8:00**minute mark in the video*
    9. Strip, twist and fold the end of the long red wire coming from head unit
    10. Crimp to the other terminal of the fuse
    DONE!
    My question is, Why fold over the stripped end of the cigarette lighter ignition cable and not the red 2" cable when twisting together? Why do you only fold over one not both? @JustSimpleTips

      @OMGvDRay 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just done mine, after months of waiting. I found it really hard using the butt connectors and actually felt as though they weren't good and after a few days of thinking I'd ruined it, I tried using block connectors. WORKED PERFECTLY! What I did was made both ends of the cut power wire to cigarette lighter (as they are far too short to work with - an expert could, but I'm no expert!) so it was easier for me to do it plus, if I mucked up, I could just start again with new wire. After making these two ends longer with those block connectors, I carried on with the steps above. The block connectors are the little blocks that connect VIA SCREW! It's not actually a block, more like a channel. Much a like the terminals on amps where you screw it in; except on this thing, it's at both ends to connect the wires together. Hope it makes sense and hope it helps

    This was a nice clear video up to the critical point of showing what to do with the red ignition cable when connecting it to the cigarette lighter. I could see you chopping, splicing, crimping and connecting, but I'm buggered if I could make out exactly *what* you were doing!!!
    You chopped part of the red cable off - why?
    Do you join the red ignition cable and the cigarette lighter cable, then add the piece of red cable, then connect that to the 10AMP fuse, then connect all of that back into the lighter? If so, why have a seemingly superfluous piece of cable - why not just join the two cables together then connect them to the fuse?
    I'm giving this a go at the weekend (28th Nov). If you're able to clarify the above, you'll make my daughter very happy as I've bought her a car stereo that's little more than a paperweight at the moment!

    Disregard that comment, I found that it goes from the stereo part to the ignition, there is a spare black connector by the lighter ignition but that's not allowing my stereo to turn on, do I have to cut the red line going to the lighter and connect it to my red line. Corsa C has some weird box and hard plastic or even steel behind the radio and the connector is so big that there is no free space to push it.
    Maybe i need another cable that actually allows to move the "big connector" into hole there and free up the space?
    And yes, i did remove the stock radio frame.

    First off, this is really helpful thank you.
    I just have a few clarifications when i am doing this.
    Firstly what amp butt connectors etc are you using, are they 15amp?
    Secondly, just because i can't see, you cut the ignition live cable (black) and then connect it to a fuse in-between the radio wire and the live just to protect it? Is the only reason you added extra wire to the live to extend the wire?

    • @JustSimpleTips
      @JustSimpleTips  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,Yes, 15amp connectors will be fine, just make sure you drop the fuse slightly lower, so that blows before your wiring.Yes, That is correct, black is for most, but we recommend checking this with a multimeter before cutting as some are different.Correct again, we cut the wire to implement the live feed to power the radio, however, if you buy a steering control adaptor from ourselves, it creates its own live feed from the canbus system.Any other questions don't hesitate to email me on Peter.Watson@JustSimpleTips.comPeter

      3. You then use a (female spade terminal connector) at each end of both wires and connect the two wires in series using a fuse (Possibly a 20 Amp car fuse) Should be yellow.
      4. You then connect a (spade terminal piggy back connector) at the other end of the short red wire.
      5. You then disconnect the red wire (positive) from the back of the cigarette lighter and connect it to the male part of the spade piggy back terminal (which you just connected to the short end of the red wire in the previous step)
      6. You then connect the female part of the (spade piggy back connector) to the male spade connector on the back of the cigarette lighter (where the red wire was originally connected to the cigarette lighter)
      Your power supply comes from the red wire that was originally connected to the back of the cigarette lighter in order for your CD player and cigarette lighter to both work you need to make sure they are both connected to the power supply or live feed.
      Make sure you use the blue connectors so that the prongs/terminals from the fuse and cigarette lighter can be slotted into the connectors and be fitted securely.

    Hi great video pal. Just wondering when u pull the lighter adapter out do you have a extra wire. I have a 2006 combo and when I pulled it out there the two connected to it and another just dangling there I can't find anything to connect it to when it goes back in. Also I have used a scotch block to splice into my feed but the radio only works when the ignition is on not on number 2 or with key still in. The old cd30 still works as normal when it's plug back in. Have you seen this b4 as well.
    Cheers

    I have the same radio and car, is there anyway I can fit my new radio without having to do the part with the ignition fly lead and wiring it through the cigarette lighter. As It was very hard to follow (or see) each step in that part of the process.

    Just a quick question here something I can't seem to find on google.
    We have a dutch Opel combo 1.7CTDI, with a Blaupunkt mp30 radio. I wonder if the Opel cross and the opel combo have the same interface? and if so can I use this kit in my Opel combo to control my pioneer SPH-120? I know I can program the controls on the SPH, I just can't figure out how to convert the steering wheel controls to my pioneer... note I would still like to see the time and date on my original LCD display..... Even the opel forum wasn't able to help me. Thanks for helping me out!:D

    I am thinking about doing this to my corsa c 2006. It has the CD30 installed so i will have to connect it to a ignition power source. This, like a few other people, is concerning me. I would like to just ask:
    If i purchase the single din kit with the audio control add on, so my controls on my wheel still work, will i need do do the whole cutting wires thing?Because if i can avoid all that because it gains power via the audio controls i would defiantly purchase the kits.
    Seconldly, if the answer to the above question is no, and i do in fact have to still connect to the cigarette lighters power source. could you be so kind to do a tutorial on that bit only? This would help me greatly because i kinda see what your doing there... but i want to have total confidence when it comes to cutting wires and messing with my electrics. Cheers. Hope you answer my questions soon, Josh.

      If you buy steering controls, you wont need to do the ignition cable wiring: www.justaudioshop.com/SC-1160--Vauxhall-2-Digit-2005-Onwards-Steering-Control-Adaptor-Vauxhall-Agila-Astra-Corsa-Meriva-Vectra-Zafira_p_112.html

    Surely there must be a way to fit without clipping wires? I have one which has the steering wheel stalk on and didn't need to clip any wires. Why is that ok on mine but this harness without the steering wheel you have to link to cigarette lighter. doesn't make sense to me so please can you advise?
    I am using the following in mine which didn't need clipping:

    Kind Regards

      The steering controls system draws an ignition 12v, when its not used you need to implement a 12v ignition source.

    Can you explain the cigarette lighter Live ignition feed part more? Its very hard to see what he is actually doing there. Also can this whole wire crimping be avoided if I buy the £40 steering wheel control kit?

    • @JustSimpleTips
      @JustSimpleTips  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Run the cable that we include in our kit down to the cigarette lighter, cut the black cable on the lighter (Check its ignition live first) then connect the cable from the stereo to the black cable with a fuse and then back into the cigarette lighter cable. So you effectively have a fuse in between making sure you dont blow anything important.
      and Yes to your question, if you order this www.justaudioshop.com/SC-1160--Vauxhall-2-Digit-2005-Onwards-Steering-Control-Adaptor-Vauxhall-Agila-Astra-Corsa-Meriva-Vectra-Zafira_p_112.html
