+Monica B Hi Monica. Thanks for watching. For me, at first it was a matter of doing what came naturally. Such were first couple of times on stage. But, I definitely hit the books and whatever I could find online shortly after. I also took a class in New York with an accomplished comic which helped in an unexpected way. So, learning the fundamentals first keeps me oriented as I continue to explore each time I'm on stage.
+Monica B I tried to paste a screenshot but I'm not sure if that went thorough. But it was ManhattanComedySchool.com With Kerrie Louise Cotter kerrilouise@kerrilouise.com
Hey Dale - thanks! I just signed up for the American Comedy Institute but if that doesn't make me funny then I will drink myself into oblivion. Not. I'll go see Kerrie. Thanks SO much for your help. You are awesome!
Yeah. You just need an decent video app. Pay like $5 bucks. I use an app called power directory on my Android. It can add an audio track. I do most of my work on Final Cut though on the Mac.
RE: Love you Nanna. Facts on this. I record all my shows and mics, because one never knows where the funny's gonna be. Of course there's the punchline, but often enough, one will gain other laugh points along the way. Good stuff Bro.
Dale, Good explanation man! Please give me your opinion about this joke i made. I wrote it in spanish so i`ll translate it. "My wife is always complaining about me. She states that i never finish anything, that i am always postponing things... But i`ll tell you that story later. "
Thanks for sharing!!!!!! My opinion is. It is a great joke. Probably not highly unique but that's cool. Bury it in the middle of other jokes about you and your wife as it is a quick laugh to help tell you and her story. And my only challenge to you is to try and turn those three lines into One Single Sentence. You might end up with a laugh that works every single time.
The challenge will be to make sure the audience understands the joke so your timing and wording will be crucial. That's where your skill comes in. Like..... My wife says I start something... but never finish.......but I'll tell you about it another time. Just an example but I did 3 things. 1. Tried to be more clear. I start but never finish 2. Single sentence 3. Added pauses to allow audience to soak it in. One sentence but told in a rythm Ohhh. 4. Bonus. Tried to put the word 'another time' at the very end. So the joke concludes on the punch. You said I'll tell you the story....later. Your line might even work better. Cause 'Later' is the perfect final word....after a slight pause of course.
Finally found a career I can enjoy. I love making people laugh. Thanks for the tips, Dale!

Did you take classes before you attempted to go on stage? How did you learn what you know? Thanks!
