I grew up in Loogootee we almost did it in '70 and '75! Even though we did not win the State, it was a great experience just to win a regional! Do away with class basketball and bring back the excitement to the local rivals!
Orleans HS went to Semi-state in 2003. What a run. Of course, while I was deployed. My uncle was the biggest Bulldog fan out there. He spoke to them during that run. I still get chills thinking about it. He spoke to them about losing both legs to diabetes and told them to use him as an example. No matter how tough it got. What a year. When he passed less than a year later, the whole team showed up in solidarity at his funeral. That should really speak to how Indiana loves our basketball.😭💔😇
Sheb Wooley (Rawhide TV series)....'Flying Purple People Eater'...crazy song..a new station went on the air where i lived in Indiana and they played that song over and over all day long....lol
My high school won the Illinois state title my junior year, we had a starting line-up of 6-10, 6-9, 6-11, 6-6 and 6-3. We nearly lost to a much smaller team that played a 'run-and-gun' style. It was an exciting playoff run I'll never forget! I was on the wrestling team, and I went to as many basketball games as I could!
During our intramural games at University of Texas, I started and my whole goal was to work the point guard so hard he was exhausted for the 2nd half. No one had extras on their squads.
I love this movie, is this true????? Has to be to be, I love some hollywood effects like Gene Hackman coming in and and Barbara Hershey, and the whole town going to run out Coach, then Jimmy comes in and says if coach goes I go, LOL, then they are like whoah whoa whoah wait a minute. Me and my Momma love to sit down to this and bring tears to our eyes, OMG, talk about nail biters, I love some Dennis Hopper to, after he makes a promise to the Coach, saying you have to promise me you wont get kicked out, LOL, ok, 2 games over Coach says throw me out to the reff, LOL, good times, cool movie
Basketball, is special, I've fouled out of a few games even in church leagues we fight like mofos, baseball is more my thing, they put me on the mound and we can pick off the nasty mofos with ease instead of hits in the back and dirty play Hey another great ass song for yall in the basketball division, Yall remember that movie Teen Wolf???? Win in the end, by Mark Safan, thats another good one Teen Wolf is bad and has a great storyline, but, I am all in with Hoosiers, I been thru the battles, always a good pick me up when feeling down
Oscar Robinson played for Indianapolis' Crispus Attucks HS. They were state champions in 1955 and 1956. Milan HS (Hickory is based loosely on Milan) won in 1954.

So... THEY won, you didnt. You just watched. Seems kinda lame. But hey, "congratulations" for "winning" the state title. 🙄
"Stick to him. By the end of the game, i want to know what flavor is his chewing gum."

There’s a photo of the team Hickory is based on in every high school in Indiana.
Milan and Bobby Plump.
I'm guessing #15 of the Bears is the Big O...
