The haunting yet melancholic tones fit the theme of the game perfectly (dreams) be it Kazuma's dream of a normal life, wich doesn't happen until 6, going back to a point discussed many times throughout the franchise, that criminals don't get normal, happy lives, or Haruka's dream of becoming an idol, Okudera's dream of hunting the Yama Orochi, realized by Saejima, etc.
I love how this intro doesn't tell the player if Majima died or not, since it's a semi-big plot point, most people would've thought the part where Majima was bruised in the intro was the scene where he ended up dying.

The western intro music captures the tone of Yakuza 5 way better than the original. Not only because it's a remix of Battle for the Dream, but it's more high-pace and it perfectly captures the stakes that happens in the opening. In contrast, Yakuza 0's original opening theme is objectively better than the western opening because it gives the players a description of the era that the players are playing in - the bubble - which is essential information that helps players contextualize the game.

Until Yakuza 6 Yakuza 5 was the darkest, most melancholic game in the series and to me this theme perfectly captures a sense of melancholy whilst also being kind of energetic at the same time. It's like how the characters are going through some of their darkest moments but they still have resolve and won't give up.

This however does not fit as good as the western intro.
Such a good opening for worst game in series in terms of story and pacing…sigh. I’m glad that when they made “Yakuza 0”,They did improve a lot in term of story. So Story itself is no longer hot mess…

Dude, Yakuza 4 has the worst story by far. This is miles better. 3 was a bit better than 4 too. But deep inside I think 4 was a necessary evil to explain a lot of things that happen through the saga and wrap it up with 4 characters. But this game did that better. Yakuza 5 is not sheakspeare and has some very stupid moments as well, but it's more enjoyable than 4. The Shinada story is gold imo.
