    Thai here. You are incredible! I can't believe my eyes when I first saw the preview of the finished build. You did a really amazing job! I'd say this color is definitely spot on, most old wooden house turn this color when year passed anyway, so to me this color is more familiar lol.
    And thank you so much for the hard work on studying the history and the cultural background. I truly respect your attention to detail. Definitely one of the reasons why I love your builds.
    To answer to some of your questions, in Thai culture typically pigs are seen as greedy, dirty, fat. So good call on changing to lion (but it's rather old fashioned beliefs, so I'm sure your Thai audiences wouldn't mind keeping the pig anyway lol).
    And on the kitchen, outdoor like this is also typical! As long as you get plenty of airflow and good shade for the rainy days, this is for sure functional. Don't worry about it!
    Some extra note, spirit house you mentioned is for the land's spirit. So that will be the spirit that'll protect your house and your family. Our culture believes that each land has its own spirit protecting. Ancestor spirit is a newly imported idea from Chinese migrants for the past few decades, so some family pray ro them too (so both, i guess). The differences are land spirit house is usually outside, while ancestors spirit altar will be inside the home.
    Really awesome job. I'm definitely looking forward to see the Thai colonial build you mentioned in the future! I'm assuming that's what you meant when you were talking about the museums. Well... I'd be looking forward to your builds regardless 😂
    Please keep up the good work!! Thank you so much 💕

    Seeing your builds always makes me wish that EA had had creators as knowledgeable as you build the lots for Island Living and Snowy Escape. They had British creators do the lots for Cottage Living, and that makes you wonder if there is a certain....element of systemic something that lead EA to miss out on your talents so far. I hope we get more Asian worlds and you finally get the chance to build for a pack!

    • @XFreezerBunnyX
      @XFreezerBunnyX  3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      They got called out for the lack of diversity in Snowy Escape. I think this played into their decision to chose British simmers to do the builds for Cottage Living. It' s sad that they wasted the oppprtunity to highlight the Asian community but it seems like they've learned from it at least.

    I really love your Asian builds! Being southeast Asian myself, a lot of your builds remind me of home and you are spot on when you said its very underrepresented in the community. So whenever I see you post traditional houses such as this it always feels so surreal because I never see the Sims as a game where builds like this is possible.

    A Thai subscriber here. Quite shocking when I saw the title on your channel. OMG! The build look so amazing. I’m pretty sure you’ve gasped the aesthetic of Thai house quiet well. The traditional Thai houses in central region do revolve around wind, rain and flood. That’s why the roofs are steep and there’s lots of air ventilation. By the way, I’m from the the northern regions, the buildings are quite different indeed.
    The house would normally build next to the river or pond rather than over it though. But I heard you talking about focusing on the pond tools so that’s understandable. The pond you’ve made are so beautiful as well!
    If you’ve interested in floating market or the riverside house, I think you could consider Umphawa to be one of your destinations.
    Thanks for your video.

    Hi, I am a console player and I want you guys to hear me out about CC, I'm sorry the game feels incomplete without them but it is what it is! We even have less features, builing options or debug items to play with, and absolutely no way of having CC. Downloading builds or rooms made on pc from the gallery is pretty much essential for us if we want anything to not look bland whatsoever, but if they are stuffed with CC it's just impossible anyway. Having CC is mostly a personal choice but not for us, and sometimes everything in the sims community depends so much on CC that we feel forced to use it. I am super grateful for all creators that just won't use them on their builds and I want them to feel appreciated for taking the trouble of making such beautiful things without CC! You guys really help our poor little console worlds look way less bland than they would, thank you for choosing to make it easier for those who can't use CC for whatever reason ❤️

    You've done so well. I mean really, this is so incredible! You have no idea how many times I've tried to build a traditional Thai house in the sims 4 and sadly, it never works for me lol But your build is just perfect! I definitely download this build. I can't imagine how much time it took to research this work. You've got my respect. And please don't worry everything is great. The altar is fine as well. You carefully took some research it's so nice of you. and btw I like Love of Siam too XD
    I'd love to see your work more and more. thank you so much for sharing this!

    This is fantastic to see! I live in Thailand with my Thai family. I hope it's OK to share but I have some important cultural/Thai life notes coming up, please excuse the long post; my Thai husband was super happy just to see some representation so I'm sure most people wouldn't mind at all but I'm going to nitpick some things.
    The spirit house is absolutely NEVER black, nor in the indoor shrine/altar. People could find this highly offensive. Even me and my husband who are not so religious were like 😱😱😱 It's usually mostly white, yellow, gold, or red with basically any bright colours for detailing- or a medium/light wood. I think the ones you've seen might be a lighter wood that has darkened with age, but wasn't originally designed to be black. Black is considered a very negative colour in this culture and associated with death, bad luck, harm and suffering. The spirit house is typically a stone or concrete structure these days, most old wooden ones are long gone. You can put fruit, sweets, delicious foods, ribbons, red and clear drinks, and a lot of flowers on here too as offerings to the spirit. Small statues of animals below the spirit house on the ground are there sometimes. They are placed commonly in the right or left of the front face of the house (facing the main path/road used to access the lot).
    Rural Thailand is basically the jungle 😂 Dragonflies and mosquitos for the garden is a must, they're inescapable 😁 A lot of people have pets or feed stray animals in the countryside, usually some cats, dogs, birds are around the house. A lot more flowers, trees and nature would be nice to see. Pot plants are a cultural thing here and I have never seen a house without multiple potted plants outside in the garden itself.
    The altar in the house typically has orange candles, lotus flowers, incense sticks, statues and images of the Buddha and notable Buddhist monks, amulets, and it's also extremely popular to have pictures or small statues of Thai Kings. I've never seen any animals on there; I think because it would be like putting an animal on the same level as the Buddha/ monks/ Kings which is offensive for obvious reasons. Maybe if it was on the bottom level on it's own it's OK (usually there's many levels and the higher the level, the more revered the figure). There's usually statues around the house of animals, we have ones of tigers, fish, and elephants. The stool in front of the altar is fine, or a mat. We don't have an ancestor shrine inside but Grandparents do (Thai-Chinese family). It will always be separate from the other shrine (don't put ancestors on the same level as holy figures). There's a lot of pictures of the King, celebrated or loved past Kings and Royal family members in most houses.
    The shoe rack is almost always outside of the house; having any shoes inside is not OK, some people don't even like storing them inside unless it's directly by the external door. There is a Thai Buddhist belief that the head is holy (closer to Buddha who ascended) and the feet are dirty, so any foot-related items tend to be stored out of sight and probably not right by the table. Also if you sit on the floor you don't want to walk shoes over the floor. We have a wooden deck like this but it's considered part of the inside/clean house and we wear indoor slippers only on it.
    Outdoor kitchen is fine and popular here, you're totally right it's because of the food smell.
    I know it's a stylistic choice and the house is beautiful, but just for info. purposes; the house would be way more of a mix of old traditional and modern 😂 A single person living and working in Bangkok and commuting home on the weekends is usually quite wealthy/affluent. There would be modern appliances, they're pretty cheap here (widescreen TV, laptop) and everyone uses the internet. There's no air conditioner unit but you would be a bit dead without one. Even less wealthy/poor families usually have at least one air con.
    Overall a great job and most things like this you wouldn't even know unless you lived in Thailand or visited and stayed in someone's home! I love it 🙏🏻

    A little note is that, usually the area under the house were originally kitchen area and the work area for slaves (Thais only enslaved each other so no racial discremination here) but there are houses that are built on water area, my mom's childhood house looks very similiar to this but the downside are the mosquitos from the water

    How they deal with strong winds in this type of houses? Or with thunderstorms? Western tight closed boxes are much more comfortable for extreme weather

    • @aisouno
      @aisouno 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hardy strong wind/storm here (they got weaker after past our neighor country) but it surpisely strong enough for it. Tropical is very hot and humid so it build to make wind come inside when you open window but also no thief and it have second window for close window when it have rainstrom.

    • @wynterkyle4824
      @wynterkyle4824 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most house made from teak, one of the strongest wood suitable for building! It do not rot, very resistance to weather and strong wind. It's a tropical country so there's a lot of rain but not wind, the space under thai house is for boats when it's flood. Thailand only have hot and humid weather, this is suitable for a country that almost have no wind because it's light and made you cool down. It's stronger than modern house when facing thunderstorm because teak is extremely expensive materials that can withstand water
