    This looks like a pretty massive project, but you've got this! :)

    why isnt it all included as one big extension, to be honest that can be a pain sometimes. But Train Simulator can handle a big route to some extent, someone made edinburgh to kings cross one time. And ts seemed to run fine with it.

      As of right now there are 2 main reasons for this:
      1) Save time. TS can be ridiculously slow when it comes to saving changes to a route, particularly if it's a big one. As of right now, on the Waterloo to Southampton and Portsmouth route, saves can take anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Every. Time. If I were to have all 4 routes in one, a save could potentially take up to 1 hour. And given how frequently I save my changes due to the game crashing constantly, this wouldn't be the smartest move.
      I once wanted to make a freight scenario in JTs Western Mainlines, which I'm sure you know runs from Paddington to Penzance and Cardiff both via Bristol. In order to do so, I needed to make a change at Acton Yard as there were no siding markers to go to. I made a clone of the route so I don't damage the original and, once I had made the appropriate adjustments, I saved the changes to the route. For the next 2 hours, I had the frozen screen of the game saving the changes to the route. So to do the same for this hypothetical merge wouldn't be the smartest move in my opinion.
      2) Crashes. TS is an unstable program. I had looked into route merging and, given that the PDL(Waterloo to Portsmouth) and the SWML(Southampton to Bournemouth) both have the same route origins, merging them was relatively easy. However, when I loaded into the game then selected the route (I had made a clone in the event I messed the merging process up), when the game briefly froze, indicating it was about to load me in to the editor, the game crashed. I loaded into the game again, then cleared my cache, restarted the game, loaded the route. Crashed. Changed versions, same result. No matter what I did, the game wouldn't load into it. However, when I then did the same thing but with a shortened version of the SWML, this time from Southampton to Redbridge, the merge worked fine. To merge all 4 routes, even with how difficult it is to merge routes with different route origins, wouldn't produce one that was stable enough to work with.
      I appreciate switching between routes constantly can be a pain at times. But know these extensions cover about 100 miles each, with the end stations being major stations where most services stop. On Basingstoke to Exeter, the trains running on that line all stop at Basingstoke or the TRSMD nearby, with the exception of the occasional Wimbledon Depot to Salisbury Depot movement. At Southampton, most if not all services with the exception of freight stop.
      As such, I don't see the need to have all of these as one.
      However, if someone in the future after these are released was to merge these into one big route, I wouldn't object whatsoever.
      I hope this answers your question.

    That sounds brilliant!! But are you going to be working on all of them simultaneously? Sounds very tough!!! Take your time and good luck!!

    • @aussiedog886
      @aussiedog886  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! For the track section I worked on the big 3 simultaneously, but I'm at a stage where I can focus on them one at a time. I'll explain more in my next community post.

    Are any trains gonna be included

    • @aussiedog886
      @aussiedog886  ปีที่แล้ว

      Short Answer: No.
      Long Answer: For many of these routes, there will be some payware requirements, for example, PDL by Dovetail Games (which is a requirement for the track on all 4 routes), which includes a rendition of the 444, 450 and 455. I may include scenarios that require the Armstrong Powerhouse variants of these, but as you'd already have these trains if you can drive on these routes, there's no need for me to include trains as part of it. Which trains you have to drive on these routes is up to you.

      @@Westlondontransportguy7045 It's so early into the project I can't put a price on it. In fact, I don't know whether there will be a price at all. This would be something discussed at a later date.

      @aussiedog886 oh ok ps if you use the 444 450 and 455 don't use the dtg version it's horrible use the ap version

    Will it have crewkerne

    • @aussiedog886
      @aussiedog886  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The extension ensures the line goes from Exeter St Davids to Basingstoke. Crewkerne is a station on that line, therefore it will include Crewkerne.

      @aussiedog886 that's quite an interesting route!
      I'm actually in the planning phase of making my own route Like this, based off of the UK Route designs southern lines. Basically a connection from the south west and the southern part.
      I am also planning to take my route as far as Bristol and Reading!
      I am though quite surprised someone could make something so big in a span of only a year (if that's how long it took you) to make such a long route! I'm quite amazed and can't wait to see how it looks when it's finished!

    • @aussiedog886
      @aussiedog886  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@traintoguide4837 Thank you! It took me about 18 months, and it is mainly just the track at the moment which once you get a rhythm going is, like most things, relatively easy to lay, meaning I could get about 10-15 miles of track done in a couple of hours.
      Interesting to hear you also planning on a large route! Would that be Brighton to the Portsmouth area? Then extending it to Bristol and Reading?
      If you would like, I can share the methods I used in the form of a mini video series. This may help you out with your planning and creating.

    • @traintoguide4837
      @traintoguide4837 ปีที่แล้ว

      @aussiedog886 the route is more of a copy of UK Route designs southern lines with most of the south west merged into one.
      It's gonna be a massive project! And with my will power I hope I will actually finish it.
      I'm hoping to get essentialy london waterloo to portsmouth, brightonz Southampton, weymouth, salisbury, Yeovil, Exeter, Taunton, Weston-super-Mare, Bristol temple meads, Bath Spa, Swindon, didcot, Reading then, Reading west, Westbury, castle cary, Dorchester and then the east coast way line to Eastbourne (with the Seaford extension) to ore, most of the connected lines and extensions lines through london, the Dorking loop and hopefully the lines going to exmouth and the tarka line.
      Obviously I'm no where near starting and anyone can just say "that's never gonna happen" I did a little while ago tried and did an extention but on a different route and did get very far. Then I thought I'd give this a go!
