Preparing a woodpecker for winter. First, he finds a dead tree and starts making holes for the acorns. Each hole is made very thoughtfully, because if the hole is large, other birds can easily steal the acorn. If the hole is narrow, the nut can break and deteriorate. By the end of summer, the woodpecker's "jewelry" work ends, by this time the acorns ripen and take their places in the tree. The trunk of a large tree can hold about 50,000 acorns, allowing the bird a satisfying winter.
I have been going to Yosemite since I was 4 years old. I have not been there for over 10 years. I have been there over 50 times. So nice to see it this video. Have fun!
Stop by in Washington State. If you need a stop, we are 3.5 miles off of I-5 in Skagit County. The Bow Hill Exit. Just 30 minutes south of Bellingham, 15 minutes north of Mount Vernon. We have food, eggs, etc. Not a fancy house, but nice folks who love what you are doing!
Awwh Thank you so much for your offer !! I love chickens !! We are already passed - but we are super grateful for your kind offer !! We used to have about 45 chickens / ducks and a pet turkey ... so that would have been lovely to visit 😉 kind regards Marianne xx
Love, love love this park. When I was in my 20's my friend and I hiked to the top of Half dome and spent the night. It was us, 2 others and a fox up there that night. I saw where a section of the Alaska Hwy was washed out and closed. Safe travels!
Thanks Adele - I love the fox story !! This is fabulous .... I love those moments, they make the moment more memorable ... for me the fog made the story !! Thanks for the tip - we are keeping a close eye on the situation and speaking to local rangers who have inside information !! Love M xx
Beautiful video & thanks for sharing! The world can thank John Muir for preserving the lands of Yosemite Park. Truly a beautiful place and is on my list of places to see in the USA!
I have happy memories of Yosemite and San Francisco having visited 6 times, once with my late wife. I also have a friend who lives in Larkspur & has a boat at Sausalito, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco Bay, so I have ben over the bridge by car & under it by motor cruiser. The fog comes off the cold Hubolt current, which flows along the coast & chills the air above it, causing fog when the dew point is high enough. I’m a Brit, now living in Australia.

Thank you so much! We will be back in CA in the Fall 👍 We write a free newsletter which is real time and you can track us 💐🌷
Shame about the weather. Awesome video though
Too bad it was so foggy going over the Golden Gate Bridge or you might have seen James Bond up there fighting with Zorin
Nope couldn't see a thing LOL !! But what a moment - and the fog somehow made it a funny memory !! We will be back one day without the van to check out the city - hopefully they fog behaves !! Marianne 😉
Welcome to San Francisco! But did you really get away with camping at the Golden Gate Bridge vista point!?! The Park Service must have kicked you out! LOL! If you're still here, hit me up and I'll take you out for dinner. Seriously. 🙂
Hi and thank you so much - we are no longer here !! (Not kicked out though !! ) I think the fog hid us ??? 😂👍
@@TREADtheglobe 😄 That's good. Enjoy the rest of your trip, guys! If you are continuing up north, the Oregon coast is amazingly beautiful. I also like the town of Astoria, OR. Have fun!
If it were LA would be smog(pollution), but San Fran will be fog.
Enjoy guys!
I wish you would have stayed a few days in Yosemite.
Yep - it is hard to share it on a 20 minute video - but we hope we have inspired others to visit - but our tip would be book the campsite / parking way in advance as it was fully booked when we visited 🙏🌺
Love this episod what fantastisc things you get to see!! 💞 And shows everyone who follows you!! Thanks!! I'm sorry but something went wrong and wrong thumb was pressed 😔 It should be 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😁X
Hi Diana - thank you so much - we appreciate that you come along with us 🌺🙌. And wow - so many thumbs up !! Woo hoo xx
👍🇹🇷👋🏻
Great video!! But you can't go through San Francisco without going down Lombard St, the crookedest street in the world!!
Thanks for the tip 🌺
Insane that they visited California and basically didn’t stop in San Francisco, bizarre. Not sure why you’d wanna skip the cable cars, golden gate park, Chinatown, Alcatraz, etc…weird…
