In East Texas you can get Kemiko stain, wax sealer... everything you might need to do a stained concrete or epoxy garage floor at Exum's Paint Store in Tyler, TX.
Love the info - THANK YOU.. a helpful suggestion, even though you are one handsome man ;-)... suggest that while speaking try to show more of the beaty you are creating.. this video convinced my wife and I that we will do this in our new home here in Colorado.
2 questions. Is there any problems with concrete cracking? In NC most builders are scared of this. I tell them your concrete people must not pack the ground in the beginning. And look for the next builder its been tough. Is it best to stain before sheetrock or should you wait til after sheetrock installation? Thanks for the videos
Concrete will crack. Especially in Texas. We have a lot of expansive clay souls that cause that. This is why we put the money into the foundation on the engineered foundation. We do this before Sheetrock so it is done and everything is covered to protect floors until after. The concern would be the concrete getting other stains on it so it’s better to put the color then come back and another finish coat.
@@TexasBestBarndominium thanks for the response. I havs been slow to build us one in NC where I live. There are not many builders that build out here and I cannot find one to build steel. They all put wood in the ground
This is the direction we are headed as well. My biggest concern is all the water that gets under your treated lumber plates. That will have a hard time drying...mold maybe?
Not at all. It’s not uncommon for this lumber to get wet but all of the floor plate lumber is treated lumber. A lot of times a build will get rain after the framing goes up to. It dries up pretty quick.
Floor looks great! I have some questions below and would love your answers and advice if possible 😅 Do you have to stain concrete? If I liked the colour the way it is, could I just put wax or sealant after buffing? I noticed how your wall frames were up before working on the concrete, could I work on my concrete first, then start on my walls? What would be your advice? Also what’s the difference between sealant and wax? Do I only apply one or can both be applied to the concrete floor? For a wet room should I apply sealant instead of wax? Do these things have an effect on the concrete finishing? When does polishing come in? Would that be after the wax? Lol Sorry I’m so new to this and am trying to learn what I can to apply to my own home. Would appreciate any advice! 😁
Josh I want to acid stain my basement floor in my new barn house. The products you use can anyone buy or is there a mechanism for me to purchase thru you? I also wanted to seal the floor after also. Thanks
Floors look good!!! If you want to do the floors yourself, checkout Texas Barndominiums for diy version. Keep the video's coming!!! 👍 Appreciate ya, w.w./Oklahoma
@@waylove04 Cracks are not "bad" or "good" I actually like SOME of them. it gives character. If your slab was engineered and finished properly they will be just a few hairline cracks here and there and if your soil is good then you MAY (remember my 100% comment above) not even get any or all in the right places closets and under things
I’ve worked in construction before, and it seems kinda crazy to stain those floors before finishing the walls? Just to much can go wrong, and that’s not to mention all the traffic from everything else that needs to be finished in that house!
This is a common method. This eliminates damaged walls. Put down Ram board and plastic to protect. Bring floor contractor back on site at the tail end to polish and buff.
Ohhhh those floors look nice, all the marbling throughout, nice. Hill County is really shaping up. It's going to be beautiful.
That floor is beautiful ❤🌹

Looks fantastic!
Many way to color concrete. Floor looks good.
Looks great sir
This is beautiful
Very Nice!
You read my mind 👍🏻
Would be nice to see some stamp work
Beautiful!
Beautiful. How much does it cost per square foot?
Cut expansion joints in the concrete to help prevent cracking? Also looks good.
How long for it to set up for normal traffic?

man go look that kinda shi up yourself😂😂
I love the look of these floors how slick are they if your feet are wet & how do they keep them from cracking ?
Does the wax have to be reapplied after a time and is it a difficult process to maintain that your self?
Money wise, is this a less costly choice than hard wood floors throughout?
Wouldn't it be easier to wait until after the drywall is up before finishing the floor? What type of sealer is used?
How slick or slippery is it when it get wet?
So I'll assume you shouldn't clean the floor with Windex?
What pad is using on the floor sander?
How often do they need to be shined up?
Can you compare pricing betwee stain vs floor coverings carpet, tile etc
Do you get a lot of cracks in the floor after the building settles?
after all that water in the beginning, wouldn't you let that dry out overnight first before applying a stain ?
It’s a multi day process
Eric of Texas barndominium doesn't build or stain floor's anymore ❓ 🤷🏻♂️ or has a TH-cam channel 😲🤷🏻♂️
Just curious. How I found you and Matt 😃👍🏻🙏🏻
Not sure Paul. Glad to have you over here stopping in on this channel though! JH
🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸😀
Do you guys build in ATX?

I’m going to build one that’s 40 foot wide 45 foot long open plan 1800 ft.²
Barndominium
Would send pictures, but I ain’t able to for some reason so if you ever built one of these
Awesome congratulations. Get to work! 🤠👏🤩
Do you just build in Texas?
Yes currently we do
@@TexasBestBarndominium is it Local or across the country?
Thought the video was going to show the staining being done ?
Is there a reason why you wouldn’t stain the concrete before framing? Just curious
Just more time to have to coddle the floors. Also we want the roof to be dried in before we do it too.
What is the percentage of floors tht crack?
In Texas all concrete cracks just part of it unfortunately
@@TexasBestBarndominium is it an easy fix
100% if they haven't cracked yet it's a waiting game of when lol.
So is it th best option 🤔

Way too much talking, let's see more of the product, less of you talking about it.
