- Nomaliso Musasiwa does not believe in waiting for the government to fix problems, so she is tackling Zimbabwe’s food challenges directly.
She runs a fresh food tech company, connecting small farmers to online clients - from locals looking for fresh, affordable food, to diaspora Zimbabweans who want to support relatives back home.
Fresh Farm by Rumbi Katedza explores this creative commercial response to Zimbabwe’s food insecurity.
Rumbi Katedza is a multi-award-winning Zimbabwean director and writer with a range of fiction and documentary experience. Her work includes the short film Asylum, TV drama Big House, Small House, and the feature film Playing Warriors. Rumbi is a former director of the Zimbabwe International Film Festival. She is currently working on a feature documentary.

We have seen this couple grow their business in leaps and bounces kudos to you Musasiwas you have done so well considering the economic climate of our country Zimbabwe.

Zimbabweans are truly blessed. They're an educated people, they goy their land back from white colonisers and are now in full control of ALL their land and country. Their government is prompting and empowering young farmers. All their farmers are BLACK.
They should be proud of their country and achievements as a country. When you watch documentaries like this and study about Zimbabwe, you can understand why it's being punished with sanctions by white capitalist countries which do not want its BLACK land reform programme to succeed. They want Zimbabwe to fail so that South Africans do not take back their land and country from white people.
Well done Zimbabwe. Be proud and celebrate your country. You don't know how lucky and privileged you are in the whole of Africa.

You’re correct bro, a lot of young people are going into farming however it’s not like all farmers are black, we still have few white farmers who remained behind because they reached an understanding to share their big pieces of land with the black farmers
I fully support liberation and empowerment of natives, but to take land harparzardly, for the sake of ownership without any proper planning is naive and can be brutally destructive to a national. Empowerment begins with educating the grassroots to be fruitful to their country. Im proud of what she's doing and has achieved, but let's not fool ourselves...this is a drop in the ocean, not a true reflection of the realities of Zimbabwe.....It is better to own an oasis in a desert, than to own hectors of a barren desert...

I am inspired. I am a Zimbabwean who grows and processes chillies in my backyard and definitely it makes a difference in my income as word of mouth has got me loyal sauce buyers. Iwill definitely switch it up and multiply types of crops as well as add my tech skills to my own business. And I was in high school with her husband plus his dad was my familys pastor from way back. Im gonna go pick their brains LOL.

I find her story to be quite inspiring. I'm Kenyan, and there are very few young farmers in my country. I am one of them.
Crop rotation and perma scape - knowledge is power. German farmers recently discovered that the new way of farming isn't that great and the old ways are more sustainable.

Finally a smart and educated person doing farming. Farming is not easy farming requires education. ( futures and option were originally created for farmers before traders abused them)

it's sorta like a csa (community supported agriculture) in the u.s. you can order your box of fresh vegetables weekly/monthly.

Heatwaves is the biggest menace in farming now ,more and more greenhouses are needed to mitigate this challenge.
And before you say "but shEs an exEPtioN", she's NOT, we just achieved grain self sufficiency in2021 for the first time since Rhodesia was founded in 1890. Rhodesia never did that, we just did 4 years ago. Nothing's perfect but our farmers are doing better in wheat and tobacco (as of 2023) than the highest recorded pre land reform numbers, we do have qualified, even experienced farmers from back then, and those people are petitioning government and getting land.
Absolutely bang ON "No one can fix the world for you in order for you to thrive" only if most Zimbabweans had this mindset, Zimbabwe will without a doubt thrive again 🙏🙏🙏 keep it up young ones & God bless your endeavours in Jesus Christ's name Amen 🙏🙏🙏
the main problem we facing is not the mindset of the people, its the government that we have that has virtually collapsed the economy, now we have no financial system, many farmers are just doing to survive. there are no jobs everything has collapsed including the infrastructure
