Those "Moon" steering wheels with the metalflake gloss vinyl rims were certainly popular in the 1960s. I recall around 1990 working as a race car fabricator walking into a race supply called JFK in the San Fernando Valley and finding in one aisle a pallet box full of those wheels in all colors with a sign on the side of the box saying $1.00 each. They were manufactured a few miles away at Superior Industries. Nearby in the race shop there were the same steering wheels with gloss black vinyl or flat black foam rims hanging on a rack with a $35 price. I liked the foam rims. Had one in my 61 F100 with a 428 Cobra Jet, 1 in each of my 2 Baja Bugs, 1 in my offroad race buggy and a couple more in the garage.
Excellent video I'm glad you shared your build! Seeing that the Nova and the Camaro thru 68 was basically the same, I'm gonna get a second one and make a Camaro gasser...so far out!!!
Beautiful build Tim, nice tips shared and great detailing done. Looking forward to see your next project. I save only the interesting shaped trees, just in case i wanna scratch build something like a roll cage. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend.
Thank you George, and yes, I save some of the interesting pieces off the trees too. It's amazing all the small interesting pieces you can collect from the trees.
Very enjoyable video, Tim 👍🤩and great looking model. Really helpful tips especially warning about the axle👍👏😃. Best wishes from jolly old England 👍😎Pete 👍
Turned out great Tim. I picked up one yesterday at a nearby hobby shop. I have another one on reserve when I get to Fort Wayne next Saturday. I will be using those tips when I get around to doing my build up. Thanks for sharing 👍.
Thank you Robert!! I save a few pieces (sometimes) from the trees, but not too much. I love scratch building when I get a chance, what do you like to scratch build?
Hi Tim,, got the video when it came out,,then forgot to comment,,,better late than never,,, this is a great video,,chock full of clever tips,,used the interior door handle trick on the one I'm working on,,,a 65 belvedere Gasser,,also the seat delete,,drill out the steering wheel, why not,, this kit is a parts store of model parts,,that can be added to so many different cars to make a variety of gassers,,,yup, good kit good video as always,, Glen
Nice build. On the passenger side you could have filled it with a thin piece of styrene and painted it metallic black. It would look closer to the floor pan. Also don't be too quick to throw out the spruces. You can get a lot of different exhaust pieces with the different lengths and curves. Have a good weekend.
Can't believe how much of a difference opening up the holes in the steering wheel made. Nice work. The salt technique worked like nobody's business too. That's more realistic than I've seen lately. Then to top it off the interior treatment was an awesome solution. I don't know how long you've been at the hobby but you've developed a world class skill set.
This looks fantastic! I love the patina and the colored glass. The few things I've done with sprue trees I have saved them. It's good material for building gaslands and terrain
Excellent review, with regards to the used parts trees, I've tried planting them hoping they would grow a new model; so far, no success. Stay safe , best regards. Janet.
Another great video Tim! You did a really good job on the weathering! I always save the empty parts trees and when I get a model box full, I go through them and clip the long straight pieces that only need a couple sprouts cut off, and I save them for stirring sticks. They’re great for mixing paint or putty or those bottles of blue paint that separate between uses. I use them for all kinds of things, sometimes they can be used instead of Evergreen plastic rods!
Great video, nice build. It’s in my queue! On the wheels, if you take some time to sand the nubs on the wheels they go in the tires without damaging the tires. I found that on the F100 kits. This kit would really benefit from sanding the back of the grill until you can see through the grill.

Great tips and heads up on the wheels and tires. Awesome looking build. I'm doing similar with the glass on mine, but different colors. I'm also not weathering mine. Thanks for sharing Tim
That is an awesome kit! Love how it turned out. Thanks for the usefull tips, especially for mounting the tires. I've noticed that on a few Moebius pickups I built, never thought of the common sense approach to install.
As always, great video ! Thank you for the tips, the rims marking the tires when mounted is valuable information. I have this kit and am looking forward to building it on the channel. 🍻
That thing looks like it’s ready to fire up and run down the strip. Beautiful build Tim. I like the painted glass. I saw the soot on the header’s and the rear license plate were great touches too. The weathering is off the charts man. Keep up the great work!!!
