I have a FLF plant that I received as a gift in May of 1978. It has moved with me many times, been cut back a couple times to fit in my house, and been in various states of health, and still it lives. It is one of my treasures . Thanks for the info.
I watched 10 videos before this one and I was still at a lost. This was by far the absolute best! All the information I was looking for plus a whole lot more all rolled into one video that wasn’t 30 min long! I liked and subscribed! Thank you for making!
I rescued one from the Death Row Rack at Lowes last summer. It was broken and dried up but it’s looking so good now! This is perfect timing as I need to get it out of it’s nursery can and properly care for it
Laura...a few years ago, I started occasionally wiggling my fiddle leaf fig trees because they were leaning pretty badly...it strengthened them up so nicely, and they’re growing straighter...I believe it mimicked wind/breeze, and the trees decided they needed to be stronger in order to withstand it!
I don't know why I never thought of that, but that's brilliant. Kind if like running fans for seedlings. Gonna have to start wiggling my tree houseplants. Thank you so much for the tip!
@@twobluestripes grab the trunk and wiggle!! I guess pot would also work? It depends on how big yours is. Mine is 6 ft so I just pinch the stem and give her a good wiggle every other day
@@twobluestripes ...I believe any of those would work, but I just take a light hold on the middle of the tree, about half way up, and just gently wave it back and forth for like 15-20 seconds every few days, until it starts to respond! 😁
We’ve had the same fiddle leaf fig since the late 1960s that has moved with us from TX>WI>VA>VT>NY>NC. I hope it remains a North Carolinian for the rest of my life! Throughout its +50-year life, it’s done very well through being cut back almost to soil level (for rides in moving vans or in times of stress - as when boy across the street ca. 1970 attacked the leaves with his new pocket knife!) and seems to thrive being pot-bound. We’ve taken numerous cuttings for family members over the years who have wanted their own to nurture. It’s certainly tolerant of the range of conditions and treatment we’ve thrown at it and is very much a member of our family!
I have been propagating string of pearls in water to share with my friends. I discovered that if I use a clear glass container they develop roots twice as fast! So this vase is definitely a better option!
I recently rescued a fiddle leaf fig from the clearance rack at Lowe’s. It was suffering when I planted it, but seems to be on the mend. Thank you for the helpful information.
🌓 I have three of these amazing plants and they are growing so great, I water all my plants with a cap full of castor and a tablespoon of sea moss to a warm gallon of filtered water and they are growing like crazy. I have cut some leaves of my smaller fiddle and put in the same same water I use to water my plants and the roots are amazing on them. I love plants and I decided to have a plant nursery in Florida, we are in Alabama now but, moving soon to Florida and I can’t wait to share our space, one of my best friends work at a plant nursery in Alabama and have decided to move with us to help me start my plant nursery. I just bought a fiddle leaf fig plant from Ralph’s, which is about 4 ft tall for $12!!! I’m so excited. It is alittle beat up, 2 leaves are for sure burnt because of lack of water.. and 2 have holes in them… otherwise I’m so excited! This is my first plant project. I can’t wait to see its growth! I will be using all the tips you gave🙏🏻😊
This is such a great video. I recently purchased a fiddle leaf and had no clue how to care for it. This video is so informative. Thank you for the time stamps and getting straight to the point.
I got a ff from a friend, and really haven’t known how to take care of it, just not to overwater! And keep it in one place, they don’t like to be moved around, right? Thanks for all the info, once again you have saved the day! Off to the nursery to get some leaf shine! I have a tall, lanky fiddle leaf fig and was the hesitant to trim it for fear of messing it up. You gave me the confidence to trim it back and propagate it. Thanks for that!
I love that your cutting is as large as my FLF, which is named "Taco". :-) Thatnks for this video, I was thinking about pruning Taco to encourage some branching out, as he is currently only 1 stem.
Mine is one tsll branch, too. I bought it about a year ago at around 14" tall and now it's about 36" . It was outside all last summer ... now inside under a plant light. I'm scared to cut it but I want branches. Darn it!
@@sherriedixon3889 Same! But I think the worst case scenario is that I kill the cutting (which I will try to root), and Taco lives on less a bit of height and does not branch - though it seems like he should branch. Good luck!
After watching this video, I decided i could handle a fiddle leaf fig. I went to Home Depot, did some of my best leaf inspection, and got one! I am so excited about my new plant! Thank you for the confidence and helpful care information!
That plant looks so much better now that you took a cutting off of it....but I gasped when I heard the snip!😳 I bet that was hard to do but necessary for the health of the plant. Thank you for the great info!
Perfect timing with this video! I just purchased my first Fiddle Leaf Fig last week. You've covered all the bases for me. Thanks so much! Love your channel. It's giving me all kinds of ideas and inspiration. I'm itching to get out in the yard asap!
I wish I’d seen this sooner! My fiddle leaf fig is a stick now with three leaves 🍃 on top. Thanks for the info though. First time growing a fig and I think I got most of it wrong.
Don't give up on it yet. Mine kind of limps through the winter inside my house, but when it's warm enough it goes outside and will generate new leaves and become a beautiful plant again.
Always full of so much information! Thank you! I’ve also seen people trying to propagate fiddles with leaf cuttings. It’ll never be more than a leaf and won’t produce anything more than just roots. Do what Laura does - you definitely need the woody stock to produce more fiddle leaf fig plants.
Laura you have taught me sooo much actually everything I know about gardening when I'm about to do something I reference back to what you said or did and feel like a pro so thank you 😁
I really needed this guide. My Fig doesn’t look any thing like yours. My leaves are definitely not as deep green. I will try these suggestions. Thanks Laura. Love this channel.
Thanks Laura for this video!! I've been waiting for an update for a couple of years! Could you please post and update the video when the roots grow out of the cutting and planting?
I'm so glad you did this video! I've been dying to get a fiddle leaf fig for the house but have been terrified I would kill it 😭 I feel much more confident now. Thank you!
Love this video. I have recently bought two fiddle leaf fig plants and two days later long and behold spider mites infestation..i gave it a good shower to rid of the mites and then sprayed with soap and water mix wait 5 days and spray again. No mites.
Thank you for the video. The Fiddle Leaf Figs are my favorite houseplant. Recently I've seen the trend that shaking your Fiddle Leaf Fig everyday for five minutes encourages new growth. Do you think that is true?
I’ve heard that is more to encourage the stem to grow thicker and stronger, basically mimicking wind so that it doesn’t get too wimpy from living inside. That would be interesting if it encouraged new growth as well! Either way it certainly can’t hurt!
I just bought one last month and super happy because I always wanted one. There were only 3 left so it wasn’t in the best of shape. It has two new leafs already. Yours are huge and beautiful!
Hi Laura, thank you for this video as I have a small Fiddle Leaf Fig!! Is it true that Fiddle Leaf Figs can't be propagated by leaf cuttings? I ask because two leaves broke off and they've rooted in water.

I just bough a Fiddle Leaf Fig yesterday I hope I have as much luck with mine as you did with yours.
Thank you so much for this video! Super informative without trying to sell me anything. Thank you, THANK YOU from a new fiddle mama ❤️❤️🥲 so excited to grow my baby!

Great info. Love all your videos no matter when they were filmed.
Thank you.
❤❤❤❤
Live in an Apt. I rescued a sad Fiddle Tree from Dumpster with 2 leaves. Beautiful & 29 + leaves now. Glad I never got on internet for care guide. I've done everything wrong: when/how to replant, fertilize ect. My Fiddle Tree is thriving on porch outside facing north in a shady courtyard.
You taught me things about this plant because I have killed two of them and have been afraid to get another. You have given me information and confidence to try at it again!!! Thank you!!!
Right on time!! I just bought this plant 🪴I was wandering what do I need to know to take care of it. And you came to solve the problem. Thank you😊
fiddle leaf fig trees are beautiful! It would be amazing to see these trees in their natural environment. It must be amazing. 🌳🙂
Wow! Very nice.
Absolutely gorgeous big leaves, I just love them & with the info from this video...I'm ready to get me a fiddle fig tree.
Your fiddle leafs are beautiful!! I already killed one. But got another about a month ago and am trying again. This video just in the nick of time.
Very helpful. Your fiddle leaf fig plants are beautiful!!
This plant is huge and beautiful
Loved this video! I have been a little intimidated about adding a Fiddle Leaf to my collection, but you explained everything so well, I feel pretty confident. Heading out the door to find a Fiddle Leaf! Have a wonderful day and Hugs from SC! 🌻👩🏼🌾🌻
Outstanding video: Just did some cutting's last week waiting patiently for the magic to happen: thanks for sharing your information and happy indoor gardening to you.
Thank you from Little-Clacton - England - United Kingdom. We recently received some FLF's that are HUGE and now i know what to do with them :D :D thanks again, great video!
Very informative video. I recently got two of Fiddle Leaf plants. I've always liked them. Yours are gorgeous! Glad I found your video. And your cute too. Thanks
What healthy looking fiddles !
I know some people hate it, but I want to try it and I trust Bonide after seeing you use all the products in your vlogs.
That one fig has grown & looks like it is doing well! All the figs are looking good! Excellent information on caring for figs! 😃🌿
Laura I’m so happy I found you & this impactful information! Immediately subscribed. I’ve wanted one of these for so long but was hesitant because I really had no knowledge about them. I would go to home decor stores and consider buying the I’m almost embarrassed to say 😞fake ones. Just couldn’t do it , I really enjoy having the real thing ,plant’s makes a house a home . I think they’re so beautiful and beneficial as well! Will definitely be purchasing one! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge! Your a great teacher, thanks again. Happy planting 👩🏽🌾🪴
Wow 🤩 your fig is huge I have one myself but it’s tiny, anyway thanks for all the tips 💚💚.
You've presented a detailed and thorough program for Fiddle Leaf Fig plants, and I thank you very much!
Wow! What a well done video. No BS to wade through to get to the meat. I checked to make sure it will not be toxic for my cockatiel, it is not. So there will soon be a fiddle leaf fig in my home.
I was looking at these plants the other day, but thought they might be high maintenance lol. You're video has changed my mind, now I will get a couple, thank you.
Thanks for the excellent guide. Beautiful plants!
O.M.G. Talk about timing 🤯 found my fiddle leaf flopped over last night 🥺 from lack of water 🤦🏼♀️ sooooo mad at myself! She’s better this morning though YAY. Thank you for the refresher on fiddle leaf plants Laura❣️ yours are beautiful and I hope mine grow up to be as beautiful 🤩🌻
So beautiful seeing some bold, massive leaves!
I too like the champagne bucket look it’s classy and regal..... try putting the glass vase into the champagne bucket ... great video ... my favorite was your trip to mackinaw island in Michigan .... my favorite place for inspiration... Grand Hotel / gardens ❤️
Thank you so much for this video ,it has helped me more than so many others that I have watched👍🏻
Good luck!
I am rooting for taco
Wishlisted for so long already! Costs an arm and a leg here, which is why it is where it'll be- on a wishlist.
Thank you for this video! my fiddle leaf figs are in bad shape and this answered a lot of my questions.
Yours are beautiful. My daughter has a couple so I forwarded your video to her. Thank You Laura❤️
Your Fiddle Leaf Fig's are gorgeous!
You look stunning!
You also make me believe I can keep a plant alive. 💗
Perfect timing with this video! I just purchased my first Fiddle Leaf Fig last week. You've covered all the bases for me. Thanks so much! Love your channel. It's giving me all kinds of ideas and inspiration. I'm itching to get out in the yard asap!
Wow.... Monstera Fiddle Leaf Figs! Thanks for the very informative video.
One of the best & informative videos I found. Many thanks!
Just purchased my first Fiddle Leaf. Your video was very straight forward and easy to understand. Thank you for the info.
Thank you.
No mites.
What a comprehensive video! Thank you.
Im getting ine real quick. I used to think it was an intimating plant but you have changed my mind. Thanks
I have that plant outside and they are really pretty plants.
So big, beautiful and healthy. I don't have one, I'm now tempted to get one.
Thank you, Laura❣
I swore off fiddle leaf but now your making me want to try again! Yours are beautiful!
