This is possibly the best plant care video I've ever seen
For those with larger trees like myself, a turkey baster works brilliantly for gathering the excess water from the tray!
Thank yoooooou!
I got El..short for Elephant!.. About 3 weeks ago, I put him in an area that was not getting enough light, and he let me know right away! so I moved him to an area that receives brighter indirect light...I take him to the shower once a week for water and a nice rinse off, and he loves it! the new growth is phenomenal, and he is looking so much better!
I retired and moved to Ghana, and purchased him at one of the local markets..I'm a plant mom, so I'm always checking in on my babes.. It was important to integrate him into the rest of the family and I'm proud to say they are all doing quite well!

This was the best report to fiddle leaf figs I saw until now, and I have seen a lot. Thanks a lot for all the information you shared with us, it was so inspiring 🌻
Cutting the top off my fiddle leaf gave me three branches! I was scared cause it took about two months to see anything happening but then it grew soooo fast! It’s the most beautiful tree now!
I almost killed my first fiddle leaf fig. Put it in my car because I was moving. Texas heat and it was in there longer than I planned. All my leaves burnt and fell off. I trimmed the stems and saw new growth. I was elated. I have a new bigger one and I just love these plants. I want more!
I moved to Texas too! And my fiddle leaf has burned spots and hasn’t grown a new leaf in almost a year 😢😢
I put mine in the oven, just temporarily, a little longer then I planned......and it burnt up? I just don't know.
Mine got too tall and was bending pretty bad, so i cut in down and planted the top half in another pot. It lost all its leaves and i thought it was a gonner, it stayed just a stick but was strong then suddenly about two weeks ago, i saw growth! I was so happy 😊

u have opened my mind in giving love to the plants so that my plants can love me back
I am totally in love with my first Fiddle Leaf Fig that I got about a week back and this video is perfect, answering everything I wanted to know about. Thank you.
My moisture meter was my salvation ! My FLFT a few months ago starts to loose leaves one by one... I just clean the roots in the shower and repot in new soil. So we start AGAIn !!!! she is starting to have new growths, PORTIA is OK now looking very ALIVE !!!
Finally! An exact explanation on why my leaf is drying out on the edges. Other places would say well it could be undewatered or overwatered and give to contradicting explainations! You're visuals were so helpful. Thank you
This is one of the best houseplant videos I've ever seen, and I have watched a LOT of them! Please continue to make similar videos about other plants!
The best fiddle video I've seen!!! Covered every base and answered every question! Loved it!❤
This was the most in depth care video on FLF that I've ever watched. Thank you...I learned so much! Also, I'm thankful to see that not all of your plants look "perfect". I need to accept that some browning here & there isn't the worst thing. Just pay attention to what my plants are telling me & make small corrections to get those babies back on track! Thank you again, Hilton! 💚🌿
Thank you. I just purchased my 1st fiddle leaf fig and am so happy to find your channel. Blessings ❤

You're so pleasant to listen to!
Very helpful… thanks for giving many details.
Yo Hilton, I just subscribed. Watched your first vid about Fiddle leafs... I slowly got into the Ficus plants over covid, Lyrata and Elastica! Love the videos, good stuff man.
excellent video!
So helpful! I’m going to to go check on mine right now!!
Hey, thanks that's actually the best Fiddle Leaf video I've seen to date!!
Such good information. Fantastic video.
I just found your channel and will be naming my tall Fiddle Leaf Figs after you Hilton and Jackson. I love your content!
So sweet! And I will take some of this knowledge and apply it to my fickle fiddle!
Thank you. Informative.
This was soooo informative. Subscribed
Thank you this was very helpful
Hello Hilton, thank you SO much for sharing!! I have a FLF, Mr. Figgy that I want to repot along with a propagated stem cutting and I know with your great tips, they will definitely thrive!!❤️❤️❤️🥰🙏🏼
Thanks. I plan to buy another FLF in the spring. Sadly, my first two died awhile back. 😥😭☹️ I have about 75 plants that are doing well. #plantMom
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!!! This was so helpful!!
Thank you. Your video is very, very helpful and informative as well as very positive!
Great video with lots of good tips. After a long time of wanting a fiddle leaf fig but thinking they will be too hard to care for I finally got myself one for Christmas and I am doing all I can to help her thrive.
Wow!! What a great video for newbies like me when it comes to care for plants. Thank you very much!!
Great video! Learned a lot.
I have 6 beautiful plants & have had very good luck propagating them & have given several to friends
They are my favorite plant!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! I just brought my fiddle leaf inside for the winter and was wondering how best to take care of it! I can tell how much work you put into this vid, love all your plants as well.
Thank you for such informative video! It was as very helpful for a beginner like me. I had also just purchased my first plant and it is a fiddle leaf plant
Thank you for the info 💪🏿❤️
Great info....Thanks !!!!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for tuning in!
Happy Happy Holidays Hilton!! I was here a year ago and thank you for your great tips!! Mr. Figgy has been doing well and the leaves are big and beautiful unfortunately, I've had to propagate her at least 4 times because of legginess!!
So now I have 5 Figgys including the new cutting!! And I finally got a grow light for Mr. Figgy and I have the others under grow lights in my indoor greenhouses!! Thank you again!! Oh and btw, overwatering causes reddish-brown spots called Edema!!😊🙏🙏
I just found my first fiddle leaf fig at my Walmart on clearance for $10!! I'm excited to have this Beautiful addition to my home 😊 also I enjoyed your video, so so helpful!
Love your vibe you had me sold when you said you talk to your plants I do the same thing!!🤟🏻😂
thanks sir........................
Excellent tip on lightly simulating the wind. It should work on other plants that typically have a small root structure relative to the size or height of the plant
I just purchased a fiddle yesterday from the store ! This has me so excited! Most my homes good lifting is on the south side 😅
Thank you so much! This was a great video. Hopefuly I can save my baby.
This was helpful!
I bought a two foot tree like three years ago and it’s almost six and half feet tall now. Repotted last year - water heavily once a week and keep in a window. It’s so easy to care for that I’ve bought fiddle leafs for multiple close friends/family members who all love the plant because it gets so much strong growth easily - water it regularly and put in a window. Done.
❤have two..they are my favorites
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Yes they are finicky thank you for telling me about watering and fertilizing Even though they are thriving I don’t water enough and was going way to fast and giving to much fertilizer getting a moisture meter very informative ❤
Thank you so much for this! This was very affirming that I’m a good FLF plant momma! I have a giant FLF that was donated to me, his name is Giannis lol I wish you were in CA to hire you for a repot 😂
Haha I do the opposite of almost all these suggestions and have a thriving three year old FLF . I've seen no figs so perhaps I have room for improvement😊thank you for the in depth information.
🌿 Discovered Hilton and his channel today when searching for Fiddle Leaf Fig care. Sooo happy!!! You, Hilton, are a treat. Love your content, pace and what a wonderful voice! Just amazing production and information, packed in a calm dynamic from you. Thank you!!!
Me too. A Newby to FLF thanks Hilton for an excellent video! 😊👏
Me too. A Newby to FLF thanks Hilton for an excellent video! 😊👏
This video is very well done... lots of information, more detailed than I've found anywhere else. I have a circular trellis around mine which are actually a group of 5 I've had for many years. I originally bought the plants this way, but they don't stay upright on their own. I was looking for an answer in getting them to support themselves and not need the trellis, but maybe the reason is related to the fact that there is more than one planted in the same pot?
I just bought a 6ft fiddle (her name is felicity) for $50! And this video is exactlyyyyy what I needed. I’ve also asked my dad for one of your books for Christmas 🥰
50$!? Wow so jealous what ab amazing price they're 160$ here in NY at that height! ❤❤❤ Awesome ❤️ good luck with the finicky fern as I call mine😂
My fig tree has been dropping leaves. They look brown on the edges and I don't know if it's root rot or underwatered because I have over watered it in the past. It's been one of the most difficult plants for me to figure out. I have added fertilizers and that didn't help so now I'm going to repot it and change the medium. Thanks for this video. I really hope it will be happy with the changes.
I have found the FFF to be quite an easy plant. I bought one the size of the one in your hand about 5 years ago. It now reaches the ceiling! I read it does not like to be move....but I move mine out to the sunporch (South facing BUT indirect light) in the summer months and back into my living room under the grow light for the Michigan winter. Easy peasy! I carry my plants to the kitchen sink water well and let drain fully!! I do run a humidifier and diffuser in the Michigan's winter months. I use a potting mix of soil, perlite, peat moss and a small bit of worm castings. I am using fish emulsion (in water) in the spring!!
I bought one that was just under 2 feet, a year ago, and now it’s almost up to the 10 foot ceiling! I can’t understand why, or how it’s growing so fast. I love it, but holy cow!! I thought this was a fussy plant. The only thing I’ve done differently is electroculture 🤷♀️
New sub 🙂 yes I name my plants too , they have little 3D printed name tags. Now I have went crazy buying plants and succulents. Naming has become a little harder 😅
Thank you so much for this!!! Found a beautiful fig at Sam’s club for $20 it’s huge ❤
Me too!!!
Hilton, I love your channel! I’m in love with Fiddle Leaf Figs, and been growing them for past five years! I now have nine! My biggest one is 8+ feet tall. I just got finished pruning top off the three stems. I only cut the end of stem, the Apical bud off. It hadn’t shown any growth in six months. I recently switched to using GT Foliage Focus fertilizer. I read it was the best fertilizer. So we will see. My question is, can I mist my leaves with a few drops of this fertilizer in a water bottle? Thanks for your time. Keep up the good work.
Hi Frank and Hilton 👋🏽
My name is Lisa and my flf is Mr.Fiddle. New subscriber 😊
How did I not know you’re on TH-cam 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
The great misting debate. A lot of other gardening content creators say misting doesn’t improve the humidity for your plant any way near what they need. Also wet leaves. No bueno. It’s a conflict.
I learned so much from this video. Thanks a lot! I had a Fiddle Tree triving for years but last year, I didn't take care very vell. So it lost a lot of leaves and 50% of the remaining leaves have brown, cracky parts. I cut of the top to propagate and later notched a part and there are sprouting so many baby leafes. Now my question, should I take of the leaves, that aren't healthy anymore? It hurts me, to take of the leaves :D.
I love your videos! I learn so much from you! I’ve been growing Fiddles for 5+ years now. I now have five plants. It’s been a learning process for sure. I have a question: My plants get new buds that just set there and never seem to open! I watch these brown sheaths for two months and they don’t open. I water them as needed, I use a moisture meter. They are setting in front of a sunny window with grow lights. Why are my buds not opening? Please help!?!
This was extremely insightful. Any tips on what brand/type of fertilizer to get please?
OMG, I was totally over-watering my plant!! I live in SW Florida where it's always hot. I keep the plant out of the sun, but it's outside on my lanai. Whenever I saw that the top of the soil was dry, I'd drown the thing with about a half a gallon of water. Going to pull it out of the pot and take a look at the roots. Thank you!!!
The best thing you can do to prevent over watering is get a moister meter at Lowes or Walmart for $12 and check the soil before you water. I have my plants inside so I check my soil each Saturday. Since yours are outside I’d check soil maybe twice a week, like Wednesday and Saturday. Set your days so you don’t forget. A meter saved my plant’s life when I first got it.
I’m in ne Fl, when do u put you plants in the house?
Thanks Hilton, this was a very helpful set of tips/reminders. I have a question if I may. It’s about making the main stem of the plant thicker and stronger. Ours plant has been growing beautifully without any branching thus far. As it got taller, I began to use a stake to support it. It’s so much taller now and I’ve needed to add a second taller and stronger stake. Do you think this has been detrimental to the plant in anyway? Is it perhaps giving my plant a signal that it does not need to get stronger and thicker itself to support its weight? Where would you recommend going from here? I would say the plant is about 7 feet tall. Thanks again!
I loved this video! it was perfect!
Could you cover the same things with the Bird of paradise?? i am having major problems with it where it is just not growing anymore.....
I just bought my first one tonight
I was just about to quit my Fiddle Leaf Fig Bambino when I found your video and have decided to hang onto it a bit longer. However I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong as it's showing signs of both overwatering (yellowing leaves which fall off) and underwatering (crispy edges). I set watering reminders on my calendar but still can't seem to get it right. It's sat to the side of a west facing window in the south of France so I'm pretty sure it's getting enough light.🤷
I've been wanting one but every time i look at them at the store they look absolutely horrible, luckily today after going to 3 stores inspecting probably 50 of them I finally found a nice one ☺😍 sadly though I did have to cut off a big leaf and a few small ones but that's okay. I wiped down all the leaves, it's looking so beautiful and healthy 💚 I'm about to order some food for it !!
I got one today at Cosco. $29.99 very beautiful and over 4 feet tall.
Ok I did love it. It was unrequited mmkay?
YOU'RE MY 🌿🌿🪴🌱🌵IDOL HILTON !
Thank you. My baby Serena in my bathroom is loosing leaves. She was doing awesome for so long. Help I’m not sure if she is drying out or over watered because this location has worked for over the last year.
What do you do when it’s almost at the ceiling? Very healthy plant.
i got my fig in the clearance aisle at walmart. he's been through so much but im determined not to let em die. he has had 3 leaves for like 5 months but has 2 tiny baby leaves now so it must be recovering.
My FLF stresses me out so badly. I still can’t figure her out and she has dropped probably 5 leaves in the last two months. I spend a lot of time checking her, cleaning, using neem oil spray. I’m going to back off the watering a little and see if it helps. If not, I’ll replant and hope for the best
What do you think about a fig tree called the Blackjack fig I guess this is offspring of the black mission but the figs are huge like the size of an orange sometimes what you think about that? I have three on my property
Im a new mom to a fiddle leaf fig! This video is so helpful and detailed, definitely my favorite video on how to care for a fiddle leaf fig.
What potting mix is best for fiddle leaf figs? can i use whatever bag that saids “potting mix” and whatever brand?
Thanks again!
In my experience it’s best to use a cactus soil mix like, Black ahold Potting Soil and add 2 cups orchid mix and a handful of pine bark to it for extra drainage. I’ve been growing Fiddles for 5+ years and have nine plants and use this soil mixture.
Do we need to use any propogation helper/ rooting powder?
Is this fig similar to elephant leaf fig tree, one that is common to Indian subcontinent?
I have a question...i have 2 one has leaves that are hard ( healthy and green) the other one has soft leaves that are more bendable. It's there a difference in varieties?
Thanks for your video very important to know how care the plant. I would like to know where a I can buy your book.
THANK YOU!
What do I do if my fiddle leaf figs are more like trees...and theres no way I can just take it out of the pot like to check the roots or if there´s too much water in the soil...?
what do you mist your plants with?
I always have one leaf that turns brown at the end… used to be several; only one this year. What is it? I love using dilute neem oil spray and I think that has improved something?!
What should be done to get a FLF tree that will produce eatable figs?
Hi. My name is Olga. My friend gave me a cutting of her flddle tree yesterday n i put it in freash water to let the roots grow. This morring when i when to check on it, the top two leafs looked sad, like they r not recieving water or dying. Do u think that they r in shock because they r placed in a new location or do they need something else?
All my leaves went down 😢 they’re not trying to rise back up
hi, I need help.. I think I overwatered my fiddle leaf fig plant and leaves turning yellowish and having some dark spots. can I still revive the plant without repotting it? thank you
my flf confuses the hell out of me. I water it when its totally dry, typically every 7-10 days. I give it 1tsp of FLF fertilizer. It has sprouted TWO leaves in two years and multiple leafs have fallen off. What else can I do!?!?
