Yeah, they were hidden for a reason. A real man will always tell his love how much she means to him, but a real man will also go to the ends of hell to make sure “the guys” don’t know they exists.
Two things come to mind: 1) Notice how well this man could write. His cursive, grammar and diction is flawless. Back in the 50's, practically everyone could write this well. Today, about 5% of the U.S. population can write this well (mostly people still alive from the 50's). Ask a newly graduated high schooler to write a cursive letter and it would be embarrassingly abysmal. 2) Back in the 50's, it was ultra conservative and, thus, the male and female roles were traditional and clearly defined. The woman he was gushing about probably saw the man as the head of the family and could perform traditional female roles like cooking, cleaning, sewing, etc. That is a woman a man can write a whole basket full of love letters about. Today, the insane left has taken over and, as a result, woman and men are more divided that ever. Marriage and child birth are at record lows despite a growing population. You'll never find a man writing a hand-written letter to a woman these days. The best you'll get today is an atrociously written text that's never answered.
