Ugh, you’re so right that he just proceeded to look after Katniss’ family & Haymitch. What an actual sweetheart - it speaks so well to him as a character & what he probably wishes he could have done for so long, but his mom would NEVER let him. I truly did really love that Peeta apologized & owned his emotions (coz Gale would never ha). Going back to my INFJ Katniss comment on one of your other videos, I think Katniss WANTED to talk about this - but we find out in chapter 1 that her mom told her to keep her feelings to herself her whole life & this only escalated as a coping strategy when her dad died & her mom closed off coz she did still talk to her dad about her feelings - so she felt she couldn’t. She sees her feelings as dangerous until they’re in the arena in CF and Finnick finally gets her to start opening up about them because he’s so open about his. Finnick is actually a super typical ENFJ & able to help because he sees how her brain works - he was stuck in the same rut she was for a while & knows the power of speaking up now & he probably learnt that from Haymitch haha.
Awww, friend mode Peeta is my FAV.

EXACTLY. I need a tshirt that says "get over it, gale". Peeta feels his feelings without trying to force Katniss to reciprocate in any way.

Wait, who hates Peeta?? Imma throw hands 😭✋🏻 Also, can you make a video on the whole love triangle thing between Katniss, Peeta and Gale? Whole thing felt kind of pointless, tbh

The love triangle was a marketing talking point for sales. It is not a triangle. It's two boys who like Katniss and she's like, "Can you just keep that to yourself? I do not have the bandwidth to deal with any of this right now "

@@lydia1634 The love triangle was a marketing tool pushed by the editors/publishers, but I would argue it isn't pointless in the final product. Suzan collins ended up integrating it in a pretty smart way where not only are Gale and Peeta potential "romantic options" they are representative of warring ideologies. Additionally, the book doesn't really pretend that Gale is really an option, and argument can be made for the movies, but in my opinion it's very clear based on Katniss' inner monologue that Peeta is the only one she has conflicted feelings about in regards to love and romance, she just has conflicted feelings towards Gale because she doesn't want to hurt him and knows he expects love and romance. Consequently, if you are just focussing on the romance aspect, it reads more to me as "is her love for Peeta just for the cameras or behind closed doors too?" rather than "Is she going to love Peeta or Gale" but that's just my two cents.

@@rootru6631 this is literally it. The amount of times Katniss is like, “absolutely not” to Gale is so funny to me. But the expectation is there which is what conflicts her. Gale puts everyone in danger by kissing her & coming up against that instead of allowing Katniss the space to process her feelings like Peeta does.

i dont think its pointless, tbh. In the book, it feels like Gale and Peeta repressent different outlooks on dealing with trauma and maybe life in general. Gale is fighting, he is strategic and fierceless; he is fire and war and banter. Peeta's most representative metaphore is a dandelion - the day after he gives Katniss the bread, she sees him with a black eye, they look at each other for a second but turn away, which is when she catches sighr of the dandelion, and remembers her father talking about how dandelions can be eaten. This is a pivotal point for Katniss, its what motivates her to go to the woods and gather, and then hunting. Peeta is hope, it's new beginnings, it's healing.
It was a really clever way of putting these two concepts, and its very special to me
