I absolutely hate this app. Tried all these things and it still does not work. On one hand I really want it to work because it would help my workflow so much, but my succes rate is maybe 25-30% of the time and every few months I just end up giving up on it and not taking it up again until I'm in a masochistic mood.
Hi. I updated to Mac OS Sonoma and then my A6500 won't connect to my Mac. I tried to connect the camera to another macbook running Monteret OS and the camera connected seamlessly. I had to use my friend's laptop for the entire shoot.

I had an issue where Ctrl w/ Smartphone was turned on on another tab. I had to turn that off to then be able to turn the USB Connection over to PC Remote.

There is one other thing that folks may run into: Apparently if you have cloud storage going, like Dropbox or Carbonite, you have to turn them off or it won't connect. Who knows why? Sony needs to fix this app - totally agree with you. Thanks again!
Thank god. It worked for me. Intially, I had closed all my photo and video editing apps including LR and PS. Also change it to PC remote. But it was still not connecting. Until I disconnected my SSD from my computer and it finally worked!! Thank you.
Thanks for this, I found the answer in the comments, FYI Folks, if you've tried everything re-install windows 11, it was called a repair on my laptop settings. After that all worked great!!

I have the following connected. Sony a6400, Sony a6700 and a Nikon D5100. The Imaging Edge for the Sony Camera's works fine. However, the Photo's app on the Mac shows all three cameras are connected but only the Nikon will display photos. Would have preferred that all three cameras could view and import through the Apple Photos app.

Imaging edge is a piece of trash. I have a very expensive Sony camera, A7 III, and could not connect it to my PC. I had to TOTALLY REMOVE my Corel Video editor software, and then Sony Imaging Edge worked. This is nonsense! What do you think Sony, why I purchased my Sony camera?? Shame on you!
I went through all of your suggestions without success and finally found that I had EOS Utility running as a login item (I guess for use with Lightroom tethering and a Canon camera I have) . I removed that and heypresto, frustration over! Just an extension of your excellent advice regarding anything that might be trying to connect with the camera! RX10 mk iv and MacBook Pro. So worth looking at the login items which you may not even know are running!
my camera doesn't have the PC remote option on the USB connections and I've been told mass storage should be the one I'm using while trying to connect onto the remote app, maybe that is the issue?? should I try updating my camera via sony website to get the PC remote setting or do I just have a camera that's unable to connect to my PC lolz, the camera has no trouble connecting onto the imaging edge app on my phone so I really dk what the issue here is.

Hey I have a problem with my Sony ZV1, I had it plugged in to my laptop so I could stream using it. Thn I turned it on again and its showing a blank screen on the laptop. I tried the USB Reset option but it literally does nothing. Not sure what I should do now :/

I read that the Remote Viewer App wouldn't work with Ventura, but I noticed what looked like a newer version under the Creators Cloud, which may well be the exact same version as the Imaging Edge original software, but I am certain it has new branding as it's called IEDT. Anyway, I had the same issues you described, and it turned out to be DropBox. To be fair to Sony, they do say any Storage Applications running could cause the issue. I turned it off, and voila ! thanks man.
I got another problem yesterday during a commercial shoot. Both the Remote Connect and Viewer apps were properly working, all on a sudden the the Viewer stopped working. Tried every method. Did not get any solution. The client was present on the shoot and they were watching the viewer. Again it started after a few minutes of shooting. This happened automatically for five six times. Till got no solution. Though the Connect app is still running properly.
Previously it used to work fine on a Sony A6400 to a Macbook, but now it connects for 1 second and then disconnects itself every time. Is there a way to solve the problem?
I got my Sony working as webcam this way (a5100). however, if I interrupt for a while - for example shutting the cam off for lunch - afterwards OBS will only show the generic "Imaging Edge Webcam" screen, although Remote will successfully connect with the camera again and no other changes were taking place. at that point only a complete win reboot will do, I wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem. I tried it in automatic and also movie mode, and switching between both

On my good old Huawei Mate 9 it was a piece of cake to connect with my A6400. I recently bought a brand new Samsung S24 Ultra and whatever I do, it will not connect. Every time the app hangs with a blue round 'retry' arrow. Very annoying!
Hi TR TV!, i have a problem with my sony a6300, last night i was in live on twitch while i was using the a6300 as a webcam and after 2 hours of live the camera has frozen. I tried to unistall img edge webcam and desktop and then reinstall - usb reset - restart pc anc camera - switch from remote to mass storage in the sony settings - changed usb data wire but all these test not worked. when i try to open remote from imaging edge desktop my pc don't recognize the camera, just open a window where it say "your camera is not connected or the usb is disconnected". can you help me please to resolve this problem? i cant go in live without webcam 🥲

I have tried everything for the last 2 weeks and driving me crazy. I connect QR code, iPhone 11 Pro Max and Sony FX3, camera connects but after 20 seconds more or less it says NO SIGNAL and when I try tapping my camera in the App list, it says I am already connected. And my iPhone wifi settings also say I am connected to the FX3..This is with my iPhone no more than 3 feet from my camera all the time. Driving freaking crazy. Can some post what the exact things I need to activate in the camera as far as Pc remote, Wifi settings, either wifi access or whatever??? I would like to buy this app but no way until I get a stable connection.. This is trying to connect to the Monitor + app

For me it was Snap Camera... Even exiting the app from the taskbar didn't do it, but uninstalling it made it work!

*SOLVED* on Sony a7siii go in Menu>Network>Transfer/Remote>PC Remote Function>PC Remote and set it ON
