    Bye Dusty
"We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top'. We will forever be connected to that "Blues Shuffle in C.”
You will be missed greatly, amigo.

You can't tell me that Jesus himself does not freaking love this performance. Billy absolutely understands how to work an audience, he is fucking brilliant. I did not take ZZ Top seriously because of their really bad videos during the '80s and then they were on the chipmunks cartoon when my kid was young, but then I saw Jimmy Page, my favorite guitarist, saying he loved ZZ Top. So recently after hearing Jimmy say that, I went and listened to ZZ Top again and I'm actually quite blown away. This performance is exceptional. They definitely got 100% better over time. I think that this performance clearly shows that these guys are actual musicians and performers, not those awkward guys in those 1980's MTV videos. I am wildly impressed at how well Billy can build audience enthusiasm, with periods of silence, reviving and building on themes in a manner worthy of classical thematic greats like Beethoven.

I'm sorry, but this is a very strange comment. First they're not cool until Jimmy Page says they are. Then they had to live down your opinion of them based on some early MTV videos. In the end, thank God they finally "got 100% better over time" and you now deem them "actual musicians". Just an odd way to sum it up...

Billy says it all with that smile on his face. Some things in America will always be great and remind us of what a great country we are privileged to live in. He and his band made everyone feel that rock and roll energy from a family togetherness type of environment. Awesome and thank God they are still around after so many have unfortunately had to leave some way too soon. Thank God for America.

On a few nights (because friends were opening up the show) I had a chance to help set up ZZ Top's stage stuff at the old Port Arthur Teen Club. Baptist preachers' kids were not supposed to know all the words to (Somebody Else Been) Shakin' Your Tree, but they had a way of getting stuck in between your ears. This band was tight to an almost supernatural degree. What they did only SOUNDED easy. I know they plan to roll on. It's hard to see how it could be the same.

I've NEVER gotten tired of hearing them play. The SAME 3 guys since the beginning have put out a catalog of music that bridges rock, blues and everything in-between. I CAN'T believe that they ONLY got to play 2 songs here. They're SO underated even though they're in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. I hope that they keep on making music forever!

@@daviddawson1718 The Moving Sidewalks PRECEDED ZZ TOP although I've listened to a couple of songs. YES they were pretty good BUT they PALE in comparison to the "little old band from Texas". The keyboards gave The Moving Sidewalks a totally different vibe. I prefer the straight ahead Rock / Texas Blues from ZZ TOP!

As a kid, 15 , I learned all the songs on my bass. That was 1977. Taught me a lot. I became an accomplished bassist. I owe gratitude. The dude was the "Bottom". Simple, and the core of good bass work. Anyone here with know how gets it. The dude stayed simple and BOTTOM. We owe a lot for him not trying to be Chris Squire. I learned a lot at a very young age that paid off so many years later. These guys are a class act.
Thank you, Dusty. Flame on man.
