Remember, people are people, whether they are clients, bosses, or competitors. Not sure how you see Dave, but treat him as a friend, don’t get too caught up with “growth” that you see others a as stepping stones. Don’t wait to “hear from people” while never taking the time to say “hi” yourself.

    • @realberserkpanda
      @realberserkpanda ปีที่แล้ว +53

yeah completely agree. I don't know how you are doing and how your relationship with Dave is going but if I was in your shoes I would probably want a guy like Dave as a friend. he just seams like someone who can motivate and help out if needed. so I would probably try to combine TH-cam and going on jobs with Dave. ofcore I don't know the full details of if he doesn't let other film during rescues or other jobs. but you could try talking things out. and maybe do vlog type videos for your channel whilest doing jobs with Dave and the crew.

also if you want things to progress you should try reaching out to people for colabs not just wait for them to invite you yourself .

Wow, okay , you're good young man and Dave I'm sure knows that, reach out to him as well , he did it several times now and I'm sure we don't know all of the truths , but thanks for keeping it between you and him if it was negative , we should all work together and maybe once in a while you will find the time to go along and if you get to busy , he is to and Dave should understand that as well I'm sure, Dave is a good guy he probably sees himself in you a bit , I subscribed to your channel and will be watching it now and make up for the few I missed and I will give a like , hope that helps. Good luck, you have a following, so it will get out soon enough your on your own , hell I just saw this tonight for the first time so !

Hunter it's so good to hear you're doing well! It's also good to see that Dave has reached out to you a few times, so it sounds like he probably understands how your fledging and trying to leave his "nest" so you can make it out on your own. I think that's awesome!
Congrats on hitting 100k subs! That must have just happened in the last 24 hours.. in your video you mentioned you were close.
I really appreciate your honesty and sharing what's going on. I like a lot of your videos, especially when you're talking to us when you're doing the builds. I cannot imagine how difficult it could be to talk to a camera, but I've noticed that when youtubers master that interaction that it really helps make it feel like we're there with you during every phase of the builds. It also builds a connection that draws us in to wanting to watch more.
Keep up the great work, and success will keep building!

This is the best advice for Hunter in this situation. The reality is Dave gave you a great opportunity and managing any kind of separation at this point is about not burning bridges. Hope you find and continue to grow your own niche.
You shouldn't have much issue pulling collaboration with some of the folks you've met along the way.

I'm subscribed to specifically see your content and the growth of your channel, and that's no disrespect to Dave or his channel. There's a different feel about watching channel growth, quite different than the feel about watching established channels. Sounds like Dave's perfectly fine with what's happening, and I'm probably sure he's behind you hoping the best for you. You're positioned perfectly to grow a channel, especially after everything everyone went through from 2019 to 2021, all the craziness of Covid and its ripple effects throughout life.

Couple things to take away here and this is in now way to be rude. Every single time you say you connected with Dave "finally" Dave is the one that reached out. He is also the one who got you started on your youtube journey and helped you grow it early on. If you are being honest with yourself you wouldn't have hardly any views to this date if it wasn't for his help. For you to smile and say I couldn't do that recovery because of my youtube is a slap in the face. If you had creative energy you would join the recovery and make a fumy video about being back with the team and the good times that go along with it yourself. Your missing huge opportunity by not doing so and painting the wrong picture at the same time.

    Hi Hunter,
First of all I wanna congratulate you! In my opinion you did everything the right way and that right way must suit you and more importantly, you have to feel good going the right way.
I (virtually) met you as Dave made his first shoutout to your channel, I subscribed immediately and never did regret it one second.
I‘m very curious to see what the TH-cam future has to offer for you as the creator and for us as the viewers, but I definitely want to see what‘s up next, so I will definitely NOT unsubscribe! 😝
But I do want to say one more thing: I really do hope that you and Dave will remain friends. I suppose his life and his calendar is wild, to say the least, but I would wish both of you that you will remain friends and maybe you‘ll join one of his recoveries every three or four month.
But as I said, I really do hope you both will remain friends for the future.
Okay, one last thing: If you ever need help editing videos (cause that’s a thing that can be done remotely) or filming (that can‘t be done remotely, I know 😄😉), don’t hesitate and raise your hand.
I do live in Germany, and I‘m for over 18 years now an prof. Video photographer/DoP/Cameraman and video editor, so if I can help you remotely, I‘ll definitely will do so.
Thanks for being always honest to us and give us the update!
Very kind regards from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp 👋

There's an extremely high value in the exposure he has provided. That's marketing that would have cost tens of thousands of $$. Imagine how much he charges and/or others pay to be sponsored, or what they would pay just to get a shout out...
Furthermore, by a company paying you double, they can use you as their own marketing tool and, even paying double, they are paying far less than they would to buy that kind of exposure. Your brand, because of Dave, has a certain value to it. Do not sell yourself short!
Regardless what has happened between you two, your minds not meeting on pay or whatever, just capitalize going forward. No matter what, Dave is a businessman, so whatever point he was making is probably worth considering.
Like this video, at times, walks the line of going too far. You have to imagine what he is going to think when he sees it. Even though you may not have bad intentions, there's no guarantee he will hear what you have said the way you expect. Very dangerous, thin line you are walking; however, by simply dropping is name and airing your troubles, it may do better than any other video you could make. From a busi ess standpoint, it is worth the risk. You may not get another call to come on a recovery - time will tell.
I think you are cool, man. I'm sure I speak for the majority of us when I wish you all of the success in the world of creation!
Also, feel free to ignore everyrhing I have said. I am a nobody. I have, however, spent int last 30 years in the field of marketing, for whatever it is worth, or not worth.

I used to know a big name TH-camr here inthe UK who gets emulated the world over. He's packed it in now as (ironically for YT) his day job paid way more than YT ever could. But he got offers from other channels and most of those channels have gone bust as they got investors to make ridiculous videos rather than slowly building an audience with charm and character. They spent the money on a big bang and people watch that and walk away. They all went bust. So I'd say not to follow the oney, follow your heart. Maybe polish up the video production side (like colour correction on this video!) but you could build a channel up fast.

Dave is definitely an interesting character I consider him good but he gives vibes of a cult leader to me personally. Knows very well how to manipulate , when to give and be generous and when to cut all the benefits to show who owns you. Constantly peddles shitty products but to keep on a good side of people occasionally helps people in need, the more news/youtube worthy the content the bigger chance of him appearing (good deed is still a good deed no matter what the afterfouth of it is). Good luck with your endeavors, you are young and willing to risk your life, please don't make youtube glory cloud your mind and get some horrible injury on one of your reckless stunts.

"cult leader" that's some exaggeration... employers can be jealous with their employees. Is not easy to make good connection with people you can trust. This is not some cult leader sh1t.
Is like the saying goes: "If you can't keep a job, you probably can't keep a wife/girlfriend." Because leaving an employer sometimes is like a breakup.
Connections are important in the world of business. Obviously Dave see something great on Hunter. Has a business man or friend, or both.

This is a bad video.... A week away and on a recovery isn't abandoning your channel, you could've figured out how to make something out of your time out on the recovery with everyone. Just have to be creative. He gave you everything you apparently need to do what you want. And to just push him and the crew aside because you can't take a week off of your normal content to do something with the guy that took a chance on you is pretty lame. Hopefully you can get your priorities straight and actually show Dave the gratitude you have for him taking you in and allowing you to learn on the job. But it seems like you are him as a burden now that you got what you needed out of him. Good luck and don't let your new found skills and mindset that you said yourself Dave gave you ruin your friendship with him cuz it seems like that's where is going.
