Okay! I figured it out. Turns out you should definitely wash it in dish soap before applying the stencil. After doing that and applying pure alcohol beforehand and then using speed stick, the stencil is so clear!! Thanks again for an awesome video Daniel.
im having the same problem even after washing it with wipes and alcohol. The stencil doesnt transfer and the lines are feint. However if i apply it on my real skin, its perfectly dark... if i can show you pictures

Hey Daniel I’m literally a beginner! I’m confused as to how to actually create the stencil itself. I know some people use the printer, but how do you just draw it? Can you use any photo and just trace over it? What kind of markers do artists use to draw the stencil itself? I was reading I need to buy a dip pen, whatever that is? Stencil fluid? Then something about a fine tipped ink pen? I thought they drew with markers? Please help! I just got my first tattoo kit. I ordered the same fake skins from Amazon and I want to be well prepared!
I made a video on how to make a stencil with an iPad but I don’t think that would be beneficial here. The idea behind creating stencils is fairly straightforward and there is multiple ways one can make a stencil especially in today’s age. You can use for example spirit stencil paper and just free hand a design onto the stencil paper with any pen or pencil , or you can trace over a printed design right on top of the stencil paper itself. If you’re just beginning that’s how I would approach it. Fake skins are a MUST HAVE when we are just starting. This is the best way to learn and develop. I don’t encourage anyone to practice on human skin. Furthermore, Let me ask what tattoo kit did you pick up ?
@@DanielYuck thank you! Yes I was going to draw it since I don’t have a thermal printer. I got the Atom dragon hawk pen. It was recommended to me. It’s very sleek and easy to hold. It was about $115. I’m going to start using it this week. It came with a lot of stuff. I was told to just use the ink that it came with on the fake skin only because it’s cheap
@@jaymgtowgaming3907 I wouldn’t use the ink that comes in tattoo kits unless it’s from a reputable company. That seems like a good buy! Keep me updated and let me know how you like it upon tattooing. For the stencils I would just draw them in as well. When I started I drew my stencils in manually but that beat up my hand and used a lot of energy so I went digital. But that’s subjective and to each their own.
That’s a good question! I don’t know an exact answer as there are many many variables to consider as well as stipulations. What I mean by that is some tattooist progress quicker over others, some are able to get an apprenticeship and some aren’t. I think 1 would be ready to get into a shop when the skill sets and practices are of a certain caliber. I don’t think there are golden rules stating 1 would have to have an apprenticeship prior to owning a shop, more so 1 would have to have the correct and appropriate skill sets to correctly and effectively run a shop. I hope this helps in some way shape or form.
That’s a good question! When I use silicone sake skin, I allow the stencil to sit and set for 12-24 hours. When that time passes I get Vaseline, work it into the silicone and simply wipe away. This leave me with a very faint purple stencil outline that doesn’t go away so it’s perfect. I have a video here showing exactly how I wipe. th-cam.com/video/fPlYefQh1iE/w-d-xo.html Most of my videos are of me explaining certain things with tattooing, and I use this practice skin. My name is Daniel, If you have any questions at all please feel free to reach out to me 🤝
So I use inkjet stencil ink and evidently it does not work. Do I have to have a thermal printer to do this? I use reelskin and nothing works to apply the stencil to skin. It really baffles me. I think it’s my stencil ink. Works beautifully on skin, but not practice silicone. Any answers for me?
hi. at first.. great video as always man! but i have a question.. every time i try to make a fine line rose stencil, the lines are really thick, after i let it dry. so when i place the stencil, it‘s all good and the lines are as thin as i want them.. but after i let it try i almost could use a 9RL.. and i just wanna make 1RL lines.. i don’t know how to stop that.. please help😅🥺
Hey thank you for your support and feedback! I appreciate you. I know EXACTLY what this could be. When I place the stencil down and IF I leave the stencil with the excess amount of speed stick it has this causes the lines to blur, bold and potentially bleed into one another or in general. So what I do is I get a napkin and place it over the stencil and press firmly to remove the excess speed stick and remove the dark outline which will give us a faint outline that will not bold out in this manor. If I am correct this should resolve your issue. Please let me know if this helps. Don't hesitate to reach out to me should you ever have any questions along your way, I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction.
Great video. I use Reelskin and recently they changed their material. It doesn't absorb stencil stuff like it use to. I had to have the PERFECT ratio and still it came out shotty. I will try the speed stick trick for sure!
Stencil stuff I use on human skin, but with silicone felt practice skins I use simple speed stick. Speed stick works great for transferring stencils onto a practice skin.
@@DanielYuck Once you get it to finally transfer you definitely have to wait several hours if not a day. After that you might get 1 wipe then it's gone! I usually line as much as possible and dab the ink away. Once the important lines are in I wipe everything off and basically start over. Not a good method for human skin but good practice for trying to keep your stencil. I have reached out to Reelskin several times, with pictures of the old vs new material and they haven't responded...
@@jacenburchell683 Yea I learned early on that I was going to have to apply the stencil at least 12 hours in advanced prior to tattooing. So the day before I am going to do a tattoo on a practice skin I will take 5-10 mins to apply the stencil and I forget about it until the next day. I used to get frustrated and think it was me upon trying to tattoo silicone skin haha. It requires A LOT of patience and persistence to get everything right, in terms of ratios for stencil applicants, stencil size, etc. After we get it a few good tried under our belt it starts to all become 2nd nature.
Did you ever find a method? I’m using reel skin and it’s more stressful than the thin amazon skins! I get those to stick so much better than I can even get on reel skin.
That is a great question! If it is the same deodorant I am thinking about I would say no. If it is the clear gel like deodorant I can not say for certain as I have not tried any clear forms of deodorants. It is a great question that I unfortunately can not answer for you but from my experience I have used speed stick with the standard transparent green deodorant glide and this has never let me down on fake skin.
After much trials, different skins and both green and purple Spirit paper, I realized it HAS to be speed stick blue deodorant, and not the powder stuff
That is 110% correct. I do NOT recommend using any powdered form of deodorant to apply tattoo stencils on fake skin. I would recommend to use the clear version of speed stick which is a green blueish transparent color.
Hey Danny Yuck! Thanks for the great tips! Also great practicing on pork belly skin.. that’s how I practiced my PMU. Ok so Speed Stick - solid one? Not gel. That’s my issue is my stencils blur. 🤦🏻♀️
That is a great question! I like to say the longer you can allow the stencil to sit on human skin the better. The longer it sits in theory the harder it will be to wipe off along the way. I make sure to stay clear of using green soap along the way and use distilled water to clean the tattoo site until the stencil gets locked it with the outline.
HAHA That is both good and bad. I would recommend if after the tattoo is done and we still have purple stencil to get some bleach water, I am uncertain of exact ratios from bleach to water but the idea is we allow the skin to soak in bleach water for a few hours which would lift the stencil and remove it. I have not tried this myself as I typically match the needle size to the design at hand. I have heard several people mention this approach and I have heard a lot of them mention the success they've had by using bleach water to remove the stencil. If you try this may you please let me know if this works and what ratios you used on your end.
That is a great question! I am using Spirit Stencil Paper and the TOEC Tattoo Thermal Printer. I love speed stick on fake skin as it works perfectly fine and well I will add. I use speed stick for fake skin only and for human skin I use Stencil Stuff.
I have been struggling with my stencils. I can't wait to try these tips. I really wish I knew about removing the stencils I have a few terrible ones I can't not get off at all now 😅
No matter what i do my stencil will not tranfer over... Its starting to get to me bc ive tried different ways for a week now... Maybe new paper or skin? Idk its getting aggravating because i wanna practice but cant
I would try using maybe bleach. I have heard that allowing them to sit in bleach water does remove the purple stencil. Have you been able to get it figured out on your end?
How do you do your stencils? Do you use a stencil printer? Or do you trace them yourself? I been tracing mine but I feel like they aren't coming out as well as they should. But I've also been way to eager to start and don't wait the full 2 hr minimum and I end up wiping away my stencils as I'm working. But I started doing a few stencils at night before I go to bed and let them sit over night and dry by my window so when I get up they're ready to go but I usually try to wait a little bit cause if I start first thing when I get them I don't want to stop and I'll spend all day tattooing and not getting anything else done.

Hey Dan, i tried doing what you said in the video and my stencil isn’t staying on. I bought the same skin the only difference is that i use spirit stencil paper (color green) not sure if that matters, any thoughts on what might be the problem? Are you using a certain kind of stencil paper? Also i let it sit 24 hours in case you’re wondering. Anyway , i appreciate what you’re doing bro, your video do help a lot. Thanks
These are great questions! I use spirit stencil paper in which I will leave links below. Spirit Stencil Paper amzn.to/3tV3CWg When you say the stencil is not staying on may you let me know what you mean? Would it be possible to show me an image? It is a bit hard to say as I would have to see the fake skin and results. I apologize for the delayed response as well.
Would this be bad on real skin because it’s meant to suppress your sweat? I think it would suppress your blood and plasma leaking out while you’re getting tattoos?
Ahhh I think I am familiar with what you are talking about. If I am correct the stencil over sat and now the purple won't budge. For this we can approach it a couple of different ways. We can use a needle to be bolder over the existing stencil which may not be a desirable method. The 2nd would be to drop the skin into some bleach water for a few hours so the purple stencil can lift and wipe off. This is how I would approach it all. I did not see this comment until today and for that I apologize. Were you ever able to get the stencil off of your fake skin?

That is a great question! The answer would be no. Alcohol to my knowledge can not be used to apply stencils to any tattoo site whether it is fake skin or human skin. Alcohol will smear, blur and remove the entire stencil making it next to impossible to tattoo. For fake skin I like to used speed stick as it is inexpensive and for fake skin ONLY it works just fine. For human skin I always use stencil stuff.
if it’s just silicone and you don’t want to bother actually tattooing it (or don’t have the means to) i would just use permanent marker over the stencil and be careful that it dries properly
Hmmm That is definitely an interesting question! From my experience when I leave the stencil on the fake skin for over 24 hours the stencil will not budge and it will stay and bind onto the fake skin. So I would recommend the same as BaddaBing where I would use a marker something along the lines of a sharpie and go over the design with black.
great video man. im having an issue with doing fine line tattoos and not being able to remove the purple from my fake skin. doing 1203RL. i did find that wd40 will take off excess ink smears tho 🤣
Hey yall!! So I recently bought some speedball linoleum slabs to practice on. I usually use regular false skin but I thought I’d try it. The issue is that I can’t get my stencil off, it’s completely stained after like two seconds. Any tips or is that one just done for
Im trying to learn how to tattoo and I just ordered this same practice skin but I was wondering can I use Vaseline instead of the speed stick or what other things can you use to make the stencil stick
I don’t recommend using gasoline to apply the stencil. We need the stencil to stick to the fake skin, vasoline helps us remove the stencil while moistening the tattooed area. Furthermore I recommend for the silicone felt fake skins simple deodorant. Speed stick was cheap and works great. I’ve seen old school tattooist use speed stick to run their actual tattoo sessions but for me personally I use speed stick only for practice skins. Allow it to sit for some time prior to tattooing because it will wipe right off if we don’t allow it to sit & set.
That is a great question! I would not recommend vaseline because it will cause blurring and possibly remove the stencil all in general. I would recommend using the transparent version of speed stick which is typically a green/blueish color.
Hey Daniel, I have a good question. I'm using a cannon gm 20 40 stencil printer suggested by you in your review. When I apply the stencil to a piece of reel skin using stencil stuff lotion, the paper keeps creasing when it gets moist causing the image to smear, or warp slightly. Can you fix this? Any tips please as I want to do some fake skin practice.

Great question! No it doesn't have to be speed stick, we can use greencard which is similar to speed stick but just tailored/branded to tattooing. I only use these sort of applicants on fake skin because I don't experience any bleeding from my stencils when I use these stencil applicants. I will list my amazon affiliate link below for you incase you want to check out the greencard stencil applicant. Greencard Stencil Applicant amzn.to/3vVzAbw

i use a ink roller to roll out wrinkles . start half way on paper and work your way out in all direction.
Does it have to be speedstick or just any deodorant?
any see through deodorant
Furthermore,
Let me ask what tattoo kit did you pick up ?
THIS WAS THE MOST HELPFUL VIDEO OUT THERE!!
I been trying to find out if you have to have an apprenticeship before you can have your own shop?
That’s a good question!
I don’t know an exact answer as there are many many variables to consider as well as stipulations.
What I mean by that is some tattooist progress quicker over others, some are able to get an apprenticeship and some aren’t.
I think 1 would be ready to get into a shop when the skill sets and practices are of a certain caliber. I don’t think there are golden rules stating 1 would have to have an apprenticeship prior to owning a shop, more so 1 would have to have the correct and appropriate skill sets to correctly and effectively run a shop.
I hope this helps in some way shape or form.
I have the hardest time with stencils😅 I just started drawing with a pencil lol. Thanks for the info
could you pls post a vid of you practicing on the fake skin to show how you wipe the stencil/ink away or do you leave the stencil there?
Nevermind! Just saw you have vids like that!
I have a video here showing exactly how I wipe. th-cam.com/video/fPlYefQh1iE/w-d-xo.html
Most of my videos are of me explaining certain things with tattooing, and I use this practice skin.

Great video. I use Reelskin and recently they changed their material. It doesn't absorb stencil stuff like it use to. I had to have the PERFECT ratio and still it came out shotty. I will try the speed stick trick for sure!
Ahhh I have yet to hear about that product yet. I will have to look into that skin. Does the stencil stick well to the material ?
Thank you for thos very informative video!! Do you have to use speed stick?
Thank you very helpful I’m a beginner
Question will Gillette clear work ?
@@DanielYuck Ocean surf or original?
Hey Danny Yuck! Thanks for the great tips! Also great practicing on pork belly skin.. that’s how I practiced my PMU.
Ok so Speed Stick - solid one? Not gel.
That’s my issue is my stencils blur. 🤦🏻♀️
So solid is better ??? I bought gellette gel 🤦🏽♂️ that’s all they had at the store near me here in Mexico dang it
and that drawing is beautiful btw😍😍😍
Thank you! If I’m correct I found the design online and made a stencil on my iPad.
Hi Daniel from Germany. When we transfer the image to the client's skin, how long after that can we tattooed?.
THANK YOU.
@@DanielYuck Thanks.
okay so this technique worked a little too well lmao, how do i get it off?
HAHA That is both good and bad.
I would recommend if after the tattoo is done and we still have purple stencil to get some bleach water, I am uncertain of exact ratios from bleach to water but the idea is we allow the skin to soak in bleach water for a few hours which would lift the stencil and remove it.
I have not tried this myself as I typically match the needle size to the design at hand. I have heard several people mention this approach and I have heard a lot of them mention the success they've had by using bleach water to remove the stencil.
If you try this may you please let me know if this works and what ratios you used on your end.
What stencil paper are you using? To get the drawing so accurate and neat.
I don't think it's about stencil paper, he is probably using stencil printer, that's why it looks so clean...
That is a great question! I am using Spirit Stencil Paper and the TOEC Tattoo Thermal Printer. I also use my iPad with pro create bushes I made to create my designs which for me personally I prefer to design digitally over on paper. I will leave links below for you to check out on your end.

Dude your method works flawlessly thankyou so much
What else can we use beside speed stick
Okay but THAT PIECE!!!! OMGGGGGGG. I want that!!!
All of your tattoos that you do are they free hand artwork
Good ol speed stick, detol also works decently on the fake skin
I love speed stick on fake skin as it works perfectly fine and well I will add. I use speed stick for fake skin only and for human skin I use Stencil Stuff.
I have been struggling with my stencils. I can't wait to try these tips. I really wish I knew about removing the stencils I have a few terrible ones I can't not get off at all now 😅
No matter what i do my stencil will not tranfer over... Its starting to get to me bc ive tried different ways for a week now... Maybe new paper or skin? Idk its getting aggravating because i wanna practice but cant
So why doesnt vasinline work?
Is that Vaseline? And is that a fully dried stencil?
fake skin is somewhat pourouss so that was a good tip on the application process
How do you remove a stencil from real skin good enough to put a new stencil on with out seeing old one?
I would try using maybe bleach. I have heard that allowing them to sit in bleach water does remove the purple stencil. Have you been able to get it figured out on your end?
Can u use any deodorant?
I spent hours drawing a stencil then after a few attempts with stencil solution the stencil was ruined
Does the kind of deodorant matter?
yes
If we don’t have a speed stick what can we use instead?
Could you make a video using inkjet stencil ink?
Does it matter what kind of speed stick?
I think so. I use the transparent version or any transparent deodorant may work but I can not confirm.
Try dabbing instead of wiping too
Hi Daniel are you using a Stencil printer? Or do you redraw the pattern by hand?

I also use a hair dryer to speed up the dry time
Got my tattoo kit today and I didn't have much luck getting my stencil to even get on the fake skin what am I doing wrong? I used petroleum jelly so any help or suggestions would be appreciated
I do this and mine won’t stay AT ALL no matter HOW HARD I retract for the Ink. HOW do I fix this??
I apologize I’m not fully understanding. What issue specific are you facing upon placing down your stencil?
Use brut deodorant
how do you take off the stencil afterwards?
May you elaborate for me?
are you referring to the dark purple lines that remain after we have applied the tattoo?
@@DanielYuck LOL, sorry I got to this so late. And I had to reference this video again!!
Yes, i'm talking about the dark purple lines that remain.
Please can u tell me about fake skin which is best to keep the stencil doesn’t wash away cux im using the silicone one not good
Hey Dan, i tried doing what you said in the video and my stencil isn’t staying on. Thanks
having the same problem. Did you find a solution ?
i realized it all depends on the type of speedstick. get the non powder blue version

@@armanmatin2156 This is a very true and great point! The speed I use is only for fake skin and it is indeed the non powdered form.

What brand stencil paper do you use? No matter what I do, I can’t get mine to transfer bold lines
Did you manage to find a good one?
what do you use to make your stencils
Same for ReelSkin?
Would this be bad on real skin because it’s meant to suppress your sweat?
I think it would suppress your blood and plasma leaking out while you’re getting tattoos?
I apologize but I don't think I fully understand the question, please forgive me.
May you please elaborate for me on what you mean?
My stencil sticked permanently is there anyway to remove that
How long did you leave it on the skin?
@@niceguyjames410 I think for 2hr
Same problem here I have been trying diferen stuffs to remove it and anything works

Any advice for deodorant roller, that is available in Germany/Switzerland?
Can I use alcohol instead of stencil stuff with fake skin?
That is a great question!
The answer would be no. Alcohol to my knowledge can not be used to apply stencils to any tattoo site whether it is fake skin or human skin. Alcohol will smear, blur and remove the entire stencil making it next to impossible to tattoo.
For fake skin I like to used speed stick as it is inexpensive and for fake skin ONLY it works just fine. For human skin I always use stencil stuff.
Does petroleum jelly not work to apply to either skin or silicone skin?
When you say apply, are you asking if we can use the petroleum jelly/vaseline to apply the tattoo stencils?
@@DanielYuck yep!
thank you so much for sharing the wisdom! Im learning so much from this channel
What if I wanted to apply the tattoo to the silicone permanently? I'm hoping to use this for cosplay ideas I have.
if it’s just silicone and you don’t want to bother actually tattooing it (or don’t have the means to) i would just use permanent marker over the stencil and be careful that it dries properly
Very cool recommendation BaddaBing!
I appreciate your response.
Super helpful thank you very much
great vid dude :)
great video man. im having an issue with doing fine line tattoos and not being able to remove the purple from my fake skin. doing 1203RL. i did find that wd40 will take off excess ink smears tho 🤣

Hey yall!! So I recently bought some speedball linoleum slabs to practice on. I usually use regular false skin but I thought I’d try it. The issue is that I can’t get my stencil off, it’s completely stained after like two seconds. Any tips or is that one just done for
Im trying to learn how to tattoo and I just ordered this same practice skin but I was wondering can I use Vaseline instead of the speed stick or what other things can you use to make the stencil stick
does it have to be that specific type of deodorant or can it be any kind??
Today is my first time tattooing I did the deodorant part wrong
Hey Daniel, I have a good question. I'm using a cannon gm 20 40 stencil printer suggested by you in your review. When I apply the stencil to a piece of reel skin using stencil stuff lotion, the paper keeps creasing when it gets moist causing the image to smear, or warp slightly. Can you fix this? Dose it have to be speed stick
