I made this for my best friend Christmas 2020 . We went out to lunch yesterday and she was wearing it !! May I tell you how very happy it made me to see something that I had made on someone special to me 😌
Think of foundation stitches as extended stitches that are just worked in the base of the previous stitch (instead of the top of the previous row). The "action" of a foundation stitch is exactly the same (with that extra yo, pull through one loop) as extended stitches (ext-sc, ext-hdc, ext-dc, etc). Also, until you get a handle on the visual identification of speech and chain at the base, you can pinch your finger to hold that chain (created by that first yo, pull through one loop). Where you've pinched is where you will work your next stitch.
I like this stitch, I will try it. I've ordered the yarn, and when it gets here, I'll try my best to make it look as close to yours as possible. Thank you for sharing this pattern and speciality yarn with us.
I love this pattern. It’s easy and quick, but has a lot of impact with the Landscapes yarn. I am making my second one. First one was a Christmas gift and second one is for me. Very happy to have come across your site.
Awonderful cowl!I dont know how to turn my work and unfortunately when you filmed the end of a row and slip stitch to chain 3.When it was time to turn the work it was pulled out of the video.
Thanks so much for the tutorial. I googled the Lion Landscapes brand yarn and it looks like there are many colors. Would you tell us which color you used to make this cowl? It is so beautiful! Thank you
Little late on this… but I was thinking about trying to make this but as a straight scarf, not in the round. Any suggestions I might not have thought of?? I was just going to follow the tutorial without joining after each round.
I’m lost. After the first round of fpdc bpdc it is not clear how you join. Do you finish with a bpdc? And then do you fpdc into the bpdc? Or fpdc into the fpdc? For someone who’s not done this before this was not explained well, and now I’m stuck. Could you please clarify this? I couldn’t find the instruction in the pattern either
You’re going to join with a slip stitch in the top of the starting chain 3. Turn your work, skip the chain 3 that you joined in a front post double crochet around the next and continue with round 3
Sarah, this is just beautiful! I’m going to have to make this! Already got the pattern, can’t wait to get to it. Would you consider coming up with a fingerless glove pattern in the same yarn?
That would be fun! I’ll see what i can do :) I have a fingerless gloves pattern coming out in the next couple of weeks but it’s in a lighter weight yarn
Landscapes, in cabana? Sounds like you hit the LB ten for ten sale too! LOL I got some cabana too but I think I only got two skeins (so I would have to make it shorter).
@@RichTexturesCrochet - I thought it was going to be a twisted cowl. I once had a pattern for a twisted cowl, but I've lost it and I gave that cowl away... Hahaha! 😀😀😀
@@lisbethsjostrand5397 When joining the foundation row just give it one twist and then start the next round at the bottom of the row. This will make it twisted. That way you will not have to do the second half as you will already have worked that because of the twist.
I'm pretty new to crochet and have a question, the chain three at the end of each row do we crochet around it or leave it as a chain 3? Thank you so much for this beautiful pattern!
Sarah, where do you buy your crochet hooks, please? I love wood, but the ones I’ve tried catch and mess up my yarn. Yours look like hardwood, & so smooth.
It’s because of the front and back post double crochet stitches. They are worked over top of one another which allows for the two colours to come through :)
This is so beautiful but i have to say your fingers are too close to the stitches on some parts hard to decipher important parts and then your hands went off camera. Im trying my best taking some time
Do designers realize how tedious and frustratingly slow their videos are when they combine a beginner's basic stitch tutorial with a project tutorial? They must not, because too many do it. If someone doesnt know basic stitches, then create a instructional stitch video which teaches stitches, and keep project tutorials focused on the project. If a person doesnt know how to chain, sc, hc, dc, tc, fpdc, bpdc, or do ribbing, then they arent ready for the most basic garment anyway. For those who know basic stitches, it's a continual fast forwarding situation which is maddening. I realize creating new crocheters are the future bread and butter of TH-cam designers, but pander to the experienced stand by's, too.

WOW‼ This is the first time that that double foundation stitch made sense‼ Thanks soooo much😍
💜💙💚💛🧡❤
Same here! Thanks from me, too! :)

It would be better to teach this stitch with a solid color yarn.
So I finished... in coral sea color... it is a bit heavy but it is quite a beautiful stitch!!!
Thank you for a clear tutorial!!!
Beautiful scarf and awesome tutorial thank you 💜

Sarah, Bag-O-Day Crochet has the "Crocodile Stitch fingerless gloves" and other fingerless gloves on her TH-cam page 👍
Can you please tell me what color that you use the scarf is gorgeous and the colors are so stunning thank you
This colour is Cabana :)
What name brand or kind or hook is that please? I really love the way it works for you.
This is a handmade hook by Viscount Woodturning on Etsy :) they are my favourite hook
What is the name of that color ? I love it and would like to buy it.
Landscapes, in cabana? Sounds like you hit the LB ten for ten sale too! LOL
I got some cabana too but I think I only got two skeins (so I would have to make it shorter).
Wait so for the 3rd row I'm I doing a front post on a fpdc and a bpdc on a bpdc or a fpdc on a bpdc. Sorry I'm confused
- It's beutiful, but how is the twist made, didn't see that in the video.
Confused...
Love it! I have a question why do you called it twisted cowl when there’s no twist ,it seems to me more an infinity cowl? Thanks for sharing.
Good question! The stitch that I use in it is sometimes referred to as the “twisted stitch” :)
@@RichTexturesCrochet - I thought it was going to be a twisted cowl. I once had a pattern for a twisted cowl, but I've lost it and I gave that cowl away...

What is turn your work? Your video desappeared right when you said that🤔 I got confused
So ow is it twisted?
How long did it take you to make the cowl?
Sarah, where do you buy your crochet hooks, please? I love wood, but the ones I’ve tried catch and mess up my yarn. Yours look like hardwood, & so smooth.
This one was purchased from Viscount Woodturning on Etsy. They are my favourite hook :) made of ebony - I have other rosewood by him, also great!
Why Do the Thread look two Different colors
It’s because of the front and back post double crochet stitches. They are worked over top of one another which allows for the two colours to come through :)
I need the size in cm please💓
This is so beautiful but i have to say your fingers are too close to the stitches on some parts hard to decipher important parts and then your hands went off camera. Im trying my best taking some time
Thank you for the tip!
I am confused. It’s is called a twisted cowl. But you did not twist the foundation to make the twist. When does it become twister?
Ok I understand the stitch you use is a twisted stitch 😳. I was thinking it was a TWISTED COWL.
Unclear videoing at end of first round. Work obscured by thumbs. Stitch count doesn’t match up for seamless join.

It can be a challenge to pull apart, that’s for sure
