I love how this Darkseid is clearly totally feared but isn’t a loose cannon. He calmly speaks to Steppenwolf and even agrees with DeSaads advice about how things would turn out. He knows you know he’s powerful. He doesn’t have to laser everyone in half to show it.

@@cyrbuzz6615 Well he didn't have the omega effect at that time so it's likely that he could be bested by the old gods anytime, but over the course of 5000+ years after his invasion. He did acquire the omega effect which is now the reason why he's eyes are red, and judging by that, I think his more powerful than ever.

Keeping in mind, the only reason Darkseid lost his initial battle on earth is because he faced the literal Greek Pantheon. The Literal Gods of Olympus. And it seems suggested by the movie that he’s only grown in power since then. Love this build up

Probably right. His Omega Effect was know where to be seen in the initial battle.
The main reason he lost is because he was Uxas, who was basically a child compared to his Darkseid form. With the omega effect he could probably take them.

He also wasn't Darkseid yet. At that point he was still regular New God Uxas. Still, even a full power Darkseid can't beat Zeus
Darkseid was amazing considering his limited screen time and I would of loved to see more of him in a second part of Justice League!
Let's just hope the Snyderverse is done justice and we get as much eye catching satisfaction on darkseid in action as possible

You can tell that Darkseid is far more ruthless, malevolent, cold, cruel, sadistic, unhinged, and just pure evil compared to Thanos just by the sound of his voice and by just looking at him.

Seeing Darkseid in live action is absolutely glorying despite his limited amount of screen time in the film, he looks even more terrifying than Thanos.
I think his lack of screen time makes him even more terrifying as it’s those small taste of his true power that make him just a terrifying presence on screen. To me a good villain doesn’t need to say how powerful they are they need to show their power as with Darkseid it’s those small glimpses of his power combined with the reaction of Steppenwolf and the Parademons that truly shows just how powerful and dangerous he his.
Same happened with vader in new hope, hardly 10mins of screentime for him considering him as the main villain for that movie... Now vader is one of the best villains of a time

Darkseid was defeated because at the time he wasn't as powerful. After thousands of years of conquering other planets and gaining more power he's now unstoppable.

But ofc darkseid does look more menacing it’s mostly because of that high pitched computerized voice whereas josh broiling voice wasn’t enhanced at all. One is talent one is a lot more game editing.

1:04 One of the coolest shots of the film. It's perfection. His "Conan The Barbarian"-pose is so badass. And I LOVE his design. So close to his classic design without looking goofy. It feels alsmost Shakespearean or ripped from an epic greek myth.

Darkseid looks intimidating AF compared to Thanos this movie had horror hardcore elements to it too at times like chopping people's limbs, decapitations and vaporizing people to bones etc I didn't expect that but then it is a Snyder film. I feel like his style and aesthetic fits perfectly for DC.
I never seen a version of Darkseid before where he actually constantly makes use of both his arms and hands while standing, sitting, walking, staring, growling and speaking.
Man, the CGI work and the voice is just phenomenal.

@@nathanzondo6809 Seriously? No offense to Bale's Batman, he was so good. But in the end, Bale's Batman was about the idea of how a man can overcome all the conflicts within himself. DCEU needed a brutal Batman in BvS, and in general, Bale's physique is not suitable for that movie. They needed someone who can equal Henry's Superman in size. Ben is the perfect Batman for a DCEU, he is Big, he is agile and Brutal at point. And the most important part, Ben's Batman had a reason to be brutal, he lost his Robin, and so that we never saw his origin, knowing that Joker killed Robin was enough for his establishment. In case of Bale's Batman, at the end of his trilogy, he was completely on the positive note, how would have you given him a brutal arc just in 3 years?

Snyder really hit the spot here. He created a perfect atmosphere of dread and hopelesness with this Darkseid and the distopian future where Darkseid controls Superman and takes over the Earth. It created a perfect atmosphere of a real threat. I hope James Gunn, in his own way, manages to create the same dreadful atmosphere with Darkseid.

I've always wanted to see darkseid on the big screen and wow this gives me goozebumps everytime. I wish one day Zack could get the chance to finish his story so we can get more darkseid. This was a great way to only give us a taste of the real villain that's out there
That ring very nearly chose Darkseid--or Uxas, since he hadn't yet obtained the Omega Effect. Possessing both the ring and Omega would have made him basically untouchable, and the dude isn't far from it anyway.

the fact that Darkseid hasn't really started to do anything yet by himself but Justice League heroes was already struggle to prevent Darkseid from doing what he's about to do as Steppenwolf has started the peak of Darkseid's plan was so dreadful to even think about. Not only you have to stop him from touching the ground, you have to prevent him to even think about planning it. That's how terrifying Darkseid is

If they allowed Darkseid in the final cut they’d add him in the flashback scene and the conversation between Steppenwolf. It would be enough to please the fact Darkseid has made an appearance and showed action. Bless this actor’s work with his character!

I see alot of people commenting how could Darkseid forget where Anti-Life was and the planet that beat him. You have to remember there are multiple earth's. So he could have been searching all those different earth's for it. If you ever look at a Crisis comic the Earths all look the same just different versions of characters.

@@mohammadnashitsiddiqui2168 this was meant to be explained in the new gods movie (pre 2017 ofc). The injured Darkseid returned to Apokolip in the middle of the war for throne, by the time Darkseid won, everyone and battle ships that knew about Earth location had already been killed/destroyed.
@@phungo1658 Plus I'm not sure that he knew that the Anti Life was in Earth, after examining the ground he just go about doing so like it was a typical planet meant to be conquered for Apokolips.
It was confirmed that Steppenwolf was truly the one who found the Equation. Sure, Darkseid might have spent his life searching for it but not once did he get a hint that it was on Earth. He just thought it was another planet to conquer and he was absolutely shocked that the inhabitants of the planet won against him.
Exactly, Steppenwolf even has dialogue where he mentions the Multiverse so DC would have opened this world up way before Disney/Marvel.
My theory is that this battle is happening in Themyscira and Anti-life is carved there. When the gods hid Themyscira with magic, the location completely disappeared of all radars thus, the new gods lost its data.
The most powerful and threatening live action comic character and you really felt it, to bad we won’t see more of him through the Snyder verse

Snyder's JL is just ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! One of the very best superhero movies ever! Every time I watch it, it's better than the time before!

@@MrMrjack18 I agree but I think it's below average.There seems to have become a cult like following of Zack Snyder. This film only looks good in comparison to the Weedon version.
To me this film was a mess. It was like a novel that you might pick up and read over the course of a week or two. I appears he just threw everything in this without caring how watchable it was or how coherent the story was. His only goal seemed to be to get his story out.
The pacing was terrible and there was too much commentary and back story crammed into a single film for it to be an enjoyable film.
I don't blame Zack Snyder for this though. Not any more than I blame Josh Weedon for his version. This all falls on WB for not being patient. Marvel was so successful because of their slow burn to build up the series to a final battle. WB seemed to have wanted to rush it and get to the final payoff. There was much more money to be made by WB if they had followed the Marvel blueprint.
