      I play Resident Evil 4 and the gun stock would only be helpful for the rifle or the TMP. I would just grab a broom if I really needed to snipe. I'm of course looking to upgrade from the broom.

      @@gabeluke7676 Yeah, it works, very helpful for the weapons that require 2 hands. I'd be using 2 handed guns with one hand if it didn't have such huge recoil penalties and accuracy penalties. And the grip is awkward as hell because you have to hold the controllers and broom.

    I've been using this gunstock for a fat minute (prolly for like 3 or 4 months now) and I really enjoy it because I can really stabilize my aim and be way more consistent with my accuracy. I mainly like using it in Contractors on a ww1 type loadout, or in H3VR since I found it feels better with heavier type weapons. With smaller guns like smgs iont think its very immersive cause the slowdown with the weight but the immersion is really epic.

    This is advertised as being able to have the controllers positioned on top or below the rod. I assume haveing them mounted below would greatly increase comfort as your no longer griping with ring and pinky fingers to keep stock from just falling down out of your grip.
    Instead having the bar above resting on your hands

    • @FrontwaysLarry
      @FrontwaysLarry  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ShawnRaz87 It mounts underneath only for the PSVR2 controllers, I believe.
      Personally I'd actually love it if they sold an accessory to mount every type of controller underneath, but there's of course the issue of the tracking IR system being obstructed by the rod itself, which is why it only works top-mounted at the moment.

    this was an excellent overview that made me feel perhaps the $150 for the onestock isn't right for me, but I'm glad it exists for people who are better at games than me. I'm already clunkin around enough in VR shooters, I don't need something else to clunk around with in meatspace at the same time. that said, if you can buy a stock to get better aim, does that mean that gun stocks are the VR pay-to-win cheat code 🤔

    I've used many gunstocks over the years. The absolute best gunstock on the market is the MagTube gunstock made by the company ProTube.
    It's by far the best due to it's adjustability. It has 26 notches of adjustability at it's joints. This means it's easier to get your favorite weapon sighted-in while being as comfortable as possible.
    Most gunstocks only have around 12 notches of adjustability meaning you'll still have to compensate your aim in-game a little bit and it won't feel as comfortable / natural.
    I prefer using a 2-point sling over a single-point sling for the added stability / accuracy.
    WieldVR claims that their OneStock is the best VR gunstock and it's not the worst one on the market, but it's definitely not the best one out there.
    Plus, half controller cups suck ass. Get a gunstock with actual controller cups with magnets. You'll thank me later.

    Tip, I’ve had my gunstock for nearly three four years now and I got it almost day one of getting my quest. On that note, vr gun stocks are better when the attachment point are on the top of the controllers instead of the bottom. That makes it a lot more comfortable on the hands not having that bottom piece rubbing on your hand and adds immersion cause the grips on a rifle is from the bottom and having barreling running from the top of the hands. Having the attachment on top and having the gunstock sitting on top of your hands rather then underneath. Gun stocks are great addition to vr and I’ll always recommend but choosing the right one is important so you don’t feel like you wasted your money. Mine is a simple 3d printed gun stock from a small company but I’ve had it for years and it’s been through a lot and had held up with some diy fixes but worth every penny.

    • @FrontwaysLarry
      @FrontwaysLarry  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yet again another reason why it's a shame that the ring was taken off the Quest 3, honestly. Would love to try the gunstock with the controllers mounted underneath, but tracking would probably be abhorrent with the LEDs getting blocked.
      Quest 2 at least had a wider dispersement of LEDs to allow for that. Good news is that at least for the PSVR2 controllers, the Onestock can indeed mount underneath for those.

    • @n31lzombiehunter8
      @n31lzombiehunter8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FrontwaysLarry Yes, always buy gunstocks where controllers mount on Top (preferably magnetic). If they mount below, you can run into tracking issues due to the actual gunstock blocking visibility to the controller sensors.

    Did the guns in Vail line up correctly with that stock for you? I use a ProTube and Vail doesn't have gunstock calibration yet, but I tried adjusting the stock and it still felt too far off. Like I guess it's technically playable but it's not great. Wondering if you just didn't mention that or if it worked with that stock. Most of the time, you need to calibrate the guns in the game in order to have them line up with you stock and you didn't bring that up in the video at all. Breachers also doesn't have calibration, only an angle offset, but I was able to get my stock working well in Breachers well enough. That being said, after I did that, I had to then re-calibrate my other games to match the Breachers setup. Anyway, good vids man!

    • @FrontwaysLarry
      @FrontwaysLarry  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Vail I found it to be a little bit harder to find the right position, for sure. Didn't know about games having calibration for that, actually! Something I'll lok at next time I test out the onestock. That said, I'm left eye dominant and shoot right-handed, so leaning at that angle can be rough sometimes through a scope for the right viewpoint. lol
      The big issue I've found since testing it a bit more after the video is that I've often foudn myself smacking the gunstock while reloading, and I noticed it more during VAIL, I think.
      Also thank you!

    • @fullyexposedandoutofammo
      @fullyexposedandoutofammo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@FrontwaysLarry Yeah, you definitely want to check out calibration in settings. Contractors does it pretty well. It will help with your eye dominance and hitting the stock when you reload, as you can position the guns to line up with the stock. It's pretty important.

    You don't need one of these to get good when a pro player can point-shoot with laser accuracy.
    With that said I think it can help with immersion.
    Popular VR shooting games, Vail, Contractors Showdown, all have weapon smoothing option that can negate the shakiness.
    Contractors Showdown literally have aim assist for scope.
    VR gunstock is preferable to use in modded games like Half-Life where there's not really an option to negate the shaky nature of the controller.

    I personally don't think gunstocks are worth it. Too big and clunky, + i don't want to feel like I have an advantage over other players. Also, Breachers is one of my favorite games, although it sucks with bad upload internet speed. Every other VR game has handled it much better (contractors, contractors showdown, onward, etc.) but breachers instead of having a slight delay between when the shot hits the player and when the shot registers, there are full like 5-15 second intervals of me not being able to hold my guns, place traps or use gadgets, and shots don't register at all. It sucks, but oh well. I just play contractors.

      Totally fair, it's not in the price range of a quick lil buy it's more of a decision tier of price, for sure.
      It does seems like most gunstocks with similar features on the market are around this price, however. It being a niche item unfortunately doesn't lend itself well to having the luxury of a low-price/high quantity sales model though.
