- Today we tear apart the land cruiser 80 series axle even further, clean and rebuild the knuckles, replace the bearings, races, seals, and set the preload! We also install new 555 tie rod ends, new knuckle studs, and powerstop brake rotors. Gears and lockers next!

Love this channel. You have a lot of talent. More videos of pretty much anything. Dirt moto, Land Cruiser, fabrication, home diy or whatever. Living vicariously through you
@@drzero9360 appreciate it!
I like all the shop noises. Like mechanic ASMR 😂
Wow!! a Minor Threat reference. haha. If you had asked I could have brought my 80 over to you and we could have made it a knuckle rebuild party!! 😁
I'm loving this! I've never had a solid axle car and I wanna learn about them so when I get mine I'll be able to work on it myself.
And you know a lot of channels just go over all of these details cuz they probably have had these kind of trucks a long time they just probably think their audience knows all this stuff like them.
So I really appreciate all you're doing here, keep it up!
Thanks!!
how clear to understad your video sir. thankful to you
Going to be pretty nice with some clean running gear, good work!
For sure! Thanks!
A pumpkin guard would be a good insurance. In my humble opinion.
Just replaced my steering damper and had to apply heat to the same tie rod end. Also found a crack in the plate around the bush on the fixed end. Was going to weld it up but ended up ordering a new one from Toyota. It’ll have to come off anyway as I’m planning on changing the tie rod ends with greaseable ones. Any thing you can squeeze grease into has to better😊
This is God's work you're doing there. It's borderline a religious experience. God bless. 🙏🙂
Appreciate it!
Give the dash a new life by installing a digital dashbord❤
Easiest way to pack taper bearings at home is by using a plastic bag and smushing it all in.
Excellent tip!
Yep that definitely works! I’ve done that for birfields
@@RM_Garage i've pulled out the shafts and filled the hole with greace before fitting shaft on normal cv's and i've used syringes too, they work great 👍
GJ dude. I recommend changing the rear wheel bearings and oil seals as well since the rear tends to be much more neglected than the front end. It's an easy job with the special tool for the bearing nut and you might wanna take a look at the rear brakes while you're at it. Also, did you check for any wear on the shafts where the seals ride so that you can offset the seals if needed?
Well done mate! Nice and neat workshop!👍
great work, one question please, what's the matter of preload ?
Hi great videos , just asking the name of the book you are all ways referring to for all you specs
Hey thanks! It's just the Toyota factory service manual for this year of Land Cruiser.
Odd decisions made choosing aftermarket v OEM parts. OEM parts all day dude. You gotta paint those 555 TREs else they're going to rust out. OEM TREs come painted. Awesome 80 series content regardless!
Great job dude. I am in the process of rebuilding my 80 and I am looking for aftermarket pistons. I went through your videos, but could not find the PN and brand. Could you share please?
Thanks! They are DNJ aftermarket pistons, just for an 80 series. Watch out, the entire 80 series community will tell you that only OEM pistons will work.. but you’ll be fine! Just make sure they’re installed correctly.
That press is at least 200 pounds
Aren’t the felts and rubbers supposed to be installed when checking preload?
And I was under the impression from many “old heads” “ima dealer tech. On the 80. U always use the shims that came with the truck.
Manual says to do without.
@@RM_Garage fair enough. Was too busy today to double check that part.
Get yourself a pickle fork brother lol
@@MaseBoogie I have them. Wouldn’t cut it
@@RM_Garage dang lol!
How can i get 80 series manual book, please advise
I would check ebay or just look up the .pdf online. My truck came with it.
where can i get a similar manual for a 70 series landcruiser? what are they called?
Factory service manual. Probably eBay!
Sir, you're working on a Toyota... stop with the inch measurements... :) You're breaking people's heads.
I get it! But 90% of my viewers are American. So the inch measurements make sense to most
@@RM_GarageMetric too confusing for them
Hes right, not only americans watching
Все хорошо. Но кулак поворотный надо красить !!
