  • Today we tear apart the land cruiser 80 series axle even further, clean and rebuild the knuckles, replace the bearings, races, seals, and set the preload! We also install new 555 tie rod ends, new knuckle studs, and powerstop brake rotors. Gears and lockers next!

    I'm loving this! I've never had a solid axle car and I wanna learn about them so when I get mine I'll be able to work on it myself.
    And you know a lot of channels just go over all of these details cuz they probably have had these kind of trucks a long time they just probably think their audience knows all this stuff like them.
    So I really appreciate all you're doing here, keep it up!

    Just replaced my steering damper and had to apply heat to the same tie rod end. Also found a crack in the plate around the bush on the fixed end. Was going to weld it up but ended up ordering a new one from Toyota. It’ll have to come off anyway as I’m planning on changing the tie rod ends with greaseable ones. Any thing you can squeeze grease into has to better😊

    Easiest way to pack taper bearings at home is by using a plastic bag and smushing it all in.

    GJ dude. I recommend changing the rear wheel bearings and oil seals as well since the rear tends to be much more neglected than the front end. It's an easy job with the special tool for the bearing nut and you might wanna take a look at the rear brakes while you're at it. Also, did you check for any wear on the shafts where the seals ride so that you can offset the seals if needed?

    Odd decisions made choosing aftermarket v OEM parts. OEM parts all day dude. You gotta paint those 555 TREs else they're going to rust out. OEM TREs come painted. Awesome 80 series content regardless!

    Great job dude. I am in the process of rebuilding my 80 and I am looking for aftermarket pistons. I went through your videos, but could not find the PN and brand. Could you share please?

    • @RM_Garage
      @RM_Garage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! They are DNJ aftermarket pistons, just for an 80 series. Watch out, the entire 80 series community will tell you that only OEM pistons will work.. but you’ll be fine! Just make sure they’re installed correctly.
