Awesome job. Personally though, i dont know if i would want such a wide tank on my 48. For anyone wondering, you can ALSO use ANY Harley tank from 07-13. A tank from another sportster or even a Nightster would work. There are 3.5 or 3.7 gallon tanks that will work on the 48 as well. Which is PROBABLY what i am going to put on mine. It will add some extra fuel capacity, but keep that slim look of the 48 without being too wide.

Mike, video is FABULOUS! It lets me know that i CAN put a 4.5 gallon fuel tank on a 48 & an 883 in replacement of their rinky-dinky "fuel tanks" if that's what they're SUPPOSED to be called😮😵. I don’t know man like 4 times what you go with the 2.3 it depends how hard you go on it. If you ride decent a long time
Did you have to put a relocation/ ignition kit? I was told just vent tube

I didn’t do any Relocation, you just make the line a bit shorter because the tank return nipple is a bit back like closer to the rear fender, so you cut it, move the rubber elbow apply a bit of glue, and call it good. Let me know if you have more questions!

I'm wondering if a Saddlemen or Mustang seat would fit with bigger tank.
It will when you go and look for the saddle man, it will say 2.5gallon, 3.5, 4.5 etc including drag specialties.
Yo what’s up brotha! So can you tell me this, the fuel vent line from the tank, the one that’s closest to the seat, does that just vent to the ground or is it suppose to attach somewhere? I realized the vent hose was working a little today for the first time on a long ride than realized it wasn’t plugged into anything. Thanks man!
How are you brother, this tanks are pressurized, so that tube should be an overflow tube so when you put more gas it should push it out to the bottom of the bike by the stand, not a vented tube for fumes. Where did you see the connection open bottom or tank?
@@Harleymike_48 open bottom! Like there’s the main hose that’s connected to the pump piece than the fuel line hose that runs from the tank right side seat than down past right before the battery box, and at the end near the tire is disconnected

The fact of going with 2 more gallons that will give you distance, saving gas goes with his hard you ride, but what I can tell you is that I have been riding for more than 2.5 hours and I still have a lot of gas left. Day and night difference, you will not regret the swap, I also have my emergency tank just in case and I haven’t use it since I did the swap. Let me know if you have any other questions. How are you? twenty2forty8 my tanks for white prior used from an another Harley, so it was light scuff, paint and clear. It was in meant condition so i was not trying to cover anything up.
I just bought a 2017 48 and I am looking for tank now, what did everything run you with paint?
How are you chitown, I did the paint myself, tank was $450 because it was OEM Harley got it used in good condition. But I know it can be found for around $250-$300 tank and about $150-$200 paint well worth the swap.

How much money could this save you? And does it effect speed since its bigger?
Is not saving is just you can go longer because you got more tank capacity as far as speed I would say is the same.

Hi Bro. I can't tell you for sure, but the tank he installed here in his video on his HD 2016 is the same one that HD in Kiel Germany installed for me at 4.5 gallons. If you like, I can take a look in a few hours to see if the name of the tank is on the invoice, then you could ask your HD dealer if it also fits a 2013 model. Best Regards from Germany

Not necessary if the bike is new but I would have it in hand in case get damage while in install.
Can someone confirm a efi super low and the 07-13 XL is a direct swap onto a 48 ??
Same platform as soon as is efi make sure you get mirror extenders and push your handler bar a bit forward.

How can I get the same tank
There is many places eBay, Harley-Davidson, Facebook marketplace the main thing is look for an EFi tank meaning fuel intention. So you can transfer your pump with no difficulties. If you need help finding one let me know send me a DM in my Instagram harleymikefortyeight.
I've been looking into this size tank, every review says can't work with its oem seat.. any truth to that?

Hi, did you have to modify anything with the gas pump, or it did fit perfectly?
Everything is the same brother, nothing change the only thing I would say if your bike is kind of old or have a lot of miles make sure you install a new seal.

So dumb to go with a tank that doesn’t look like a peanut tank that’s literally the only reason why people buy this Bikes.
May be dumb for you but not for others I enjoy my bike regardless, when you need to go far and you don’t have enough gas even with emergency tank you need the extra gallons, yes old school looks better I am with you but everybody have their opinion. At the time it was my only bike and I want it to ride long distances, now I have multiple I can actually be good with the small tank to go around, and for long ones I use my road glide.
I always disliked the peanut tank. If I buy a Sportster I'll definitely upgrade the tank to something that looks more like a normal tank. More like a late 70s Suzuki GS or Triumph tank.
