Zoo has 4 damage on board, needs to draw 6 more to win, and the Lotheb he pulled doesn't cut it. Trump's play gave zoo the extra draw he needed to win.

finally decided to devote like half my collection (that i rarely use somewhat) to make a standard handlock deck. it didnt disappoint :D. maintained a 7 win streak on ladder and ended up in rank 9. im already in love with the deck. not to mention, using all of jaraxxus' emotes to bm (it's kind of an obligation, like, come on :p) is a huge plus MUHAHAHAHAHAHA

damn what a rough game 3 against zoo... proof even a good start with handlock is many times not enough to beat a zoo with such good draws- however I should mention he had a few other win conditions, could have easily been either of the 2 doomguards or any possible range of charge minions possible
In that zoo game I would have used the Siphon Soul, even if that means only 1 Giant. Still risky, but safer. Also I wouldn't have tapped after the Shadowflame on the Belcher. Really should have played around those Doomguard/Soulfire since none of those have been played by then. You stabilize with a reasonable amount of health, you are bound to win, and statistically you will be drawing into Taunts/Farseers/Jaraxxus soon enough.
@Dawson Fox You should get all the 4 giants, 2 drakes, 2 watchers, 2 sunfurys, at least 1 argus and shadowflame. You can't play Handlock without these. The rest can change. I'd wait for Goblins and Gnomes tho.
Finally someone who says Shaman vs Warlock is a pretty even match up. I've been so sad reading on the internet that Shaman should absolutely dominate Handlock, but I've been having an about 50% winrate against Warlock.. I'm actually sad when I see my opponent isn't zoo when playing as shaman.
In theory Shaman should destroy handlock because of all the good answers they have, Earth shock for the drakes, hex for the giants, etc, but in actuality the shaman only has 2 hexs and isn't guranteed to draw them, and they can't just save their earth shocks for Drakes. So I agree it's probably 45/55 in Shaman's favour maybe closer.
I've been keeping track of all my games (I'm a rank 8 shaman player, but slowly climbing the ladder). This month I have played against Handlock 28 times, from which I've lost 18 (I consider this one of my worst match-up, just a little bit better then Warrior). It might be that I'm just playing this match-up in a wrong way (although I'm quite experienced with both decks) but imo the combination of Shadowflame, hellfire and all the +5 mana creatures is just too much for Shaman to handle.
I'd say hand lock has the upper hand against shaman since there's just way too much big stuff to deal with unless you run hand lock specific cards like bgh and black knight
I'm not that great at playing the meta, but I would imagine that handlock v shaman would be very shaman favored. They have earthshocks for the twilight drakes and two hexes and maybe a BGH to handle most of the giants.

Samuel Owen All I've been running into are priest warrior and hunter. Mostly hunter. Sometimes zoo, very rarely handlock. The meta is very stale atm im glad new cards are coming out.
was stuck with control warrior & handlock at rank 5-6 then switched to hunter & zoo was stuck at rank 2-3 for 10 days, and just 1 hour ago i hit legend with handlock again :) just gotta be lucky you are not facing many hunters & even then, gotta switch your game mentality to not attack into traps until you have lethal & keep molten giants instead of mountain giants on starting hands, then you might steal some wins vs hunters
go some anti-aggrodeck util the rank 5 and them switch to handlock, this deck is very strong when the meta is more divided and varied, but since you see a lot of hunter and shaman spam I don't recommend you to run ladder with it

I played today with the same Deck against a priest. I was at 10 Health and he killed me with 2 Soulfires and a Holy fire. The funny thing was, that the one soulfire burnt a third soulfire! So all in all he got 3 Soulfires from me...

Maybe it's just my point of view but the last couple of weeks Trump plays very unfocused. He makes a lot of little errors like attacking before using the faceless etc.
If that were the case he would have stopped long time ago. More likely is, that he is not concentrated because he is ranked 7 or 8 and expects not to have to play his A-game all the time. Maybe not even on purpose but just based on his mindset.

james turd Trump isn't bad; even in constructed he has a pretty good read on the meta (which is why he swapped to handlock from control warrior), and it's not like he misplays in every game. But yeah, I do have to agree that despite his very impressive technical knowledge of the game, he's behind other popular pro players like Amaz - if you put them both in a foxhole, Amaz would probably see a better line to get out of it with. ^^

no its not. every "good" deck has its counters. try to win as handlock vs hunter. its pretty much impossible. shaman has a decent matchup against handlock according to my data. i dont know much about other decks, my mage deck is horrible against it but w/e.
you can sometimes steal wins from hunters if you mulligan for molten giants instead of mountain giants & not attack into traps until you have lethal, & if they dont get lucky perfect start.. in other words you gotta play different against them than you would vs other classes but its possible, probably 20-30% win chance
Rafael Gonzalez yeah i mean the win % against hunters for handlock is somewhere around 20%. which proves to be the worst matchup in HS besides miracle vs control warrior, which is actually unwinnable. and you can still get a mountain giant out before a molten unless the hunter gets a godly start.
He, personally, at the time, was not running into many of them. I know if I try to run my ramp Druid now I'll get pounded by them. Keep in mind this is at least a few days old, and it is his personal experience.

Hunter is a popular class, but it's slowly getting less and less effective, and especially with the new g&g expansion, it's clear the meta is changing, and thankfully the rein of the hunters looks like it's fading. Not the mention with the buzzard and Leeroy nerf, hunters only have one effective deck (death rattle), therefor easier to counter.

I'm no expert, but it's better to get one of each I guess. Both of the giants play to the strengths of your hero ability.
