Charming place, quiet, affordable. It is so inexpensive to rent in the Philippines that not being able to own property isn’t that painful. I really like having the owner be on the same compound and right next door. Those type of owners care about their property and usually take very good care of it. It would be nice to get to know the owners instead of them being a faceless company. Great place!

Nice house, Pea. I have always liked the wood work they do in the Philippines. I still have carvings from over there since the early sixties. I remember the water situation also. We had to put iodine tablets in our water jugs to purify the water before drinking. Our grounds keeper made the mistake of drinking the water that we kept in the frig and although it did not make him sick, he started having trouble drinking the water at home. His doctor told him that he needed to stop drinking our water and to take his water from home with him to work. I remember the small refrigerators in England, they are small. We almost chose Dauin to live, but wife already had land in Siaton, so we said, no big deal, Siaton is only an hour pending traffic to Dumaguete. We were also looking at San Jose.
For those from the UK it's roughly £280 a month rent. Thanks for asking about those 'extra' costs when renting. Long term rents are usually at least 1 year so that's expected. Woyld love a similar house close to Cebu next year! Whether the bush is neatly trimmed or not😂
If I were going to retire in the Philippines, I would definitely consider a place like that. I am sure the only other question your viewers would have is does it come with Alma included. She did a great job presenting the property! Great video!

Very nice house. When I was in Dumaguete, I dropped off my laundry at the laundromat. They wash, dry, and fold for quite a large load. I picked it up the next day for 300 Pesos. Not a bad deal. Yes, people in the US usually want everything big. I had a house in Encino that was 941 sq. ft. It was considered very small. However the lot was 5,000 sg. ft.

I guess growing up on a farm the sounds of farm life (chickens, dogs, cows, pigs, etc.) never really bothered me. If anything, it’s soothing. Being that close to the landlord can be a two-edged sword. Nice when you have a problem, but some landlords forget that, while you are renting it, it’s your home (for privacy purposes), not theirs. I had issues before with renting from an owner who was on the same property. Let’s just say the wife got an eye full when she helped herself into the house while I was getting out of the shower. She actually had the audacity to be upset with me over the incident! Needless to say I moved out as soon as I found a new place. The place looks pretty good for a single guy. It definitely seemed pretty quiet, and the convenience to amenities is good. Thank you Pea (and Alma) for showing us that lovely house! (By the way, cute dress, Pea!)
I'm with you regarding the animal sounds. Didn't grow up on a farm, but did grow up in a rural area. Friends had chickens, and when I lived in Hawaii my Filipina girlfriend's dad had them, too. There's something comforting about the sounds of animals of all kinds.

I don't trust Alma at all. She found us a rental and said it was nice and in a safe rich area and the apartment compound was broken into 3 times. Then the owner put it up for sale then guess who listed for the owner ? Alma!! She showed the apartment to a few people and do you think she mentioned at all there was crime in the area and break ins? Nope Nope. It's all the money.
don’t trust anyone concerning business, renting, purchasing major items. the need for money is always an excuse for the bad people (emphasis the bad ones) to act. Crime, wherever a foreigner moves in, immediately it becomes a target for theft, you cannot leave your home unattended, so having someone at home is best way to prevent crime. CCTV doesn’t do much and good luck at getting local authorities to cooperate. The Brgy system is completely broken and if the person who broke into your home is in the same Clan as the brgy cpt, nothing will become of it, even if you have them on camera etc stealing your stuff.
As a former NYC luxury broker and now a developer and landlord locally & abroad this comment is under rated. We need more reality from men who have/had boots on the ground. I'll be visiting soon.

We have a 30 cubic foot frig and a separate freezer in our house. With a second refrigerator in the shed. At my nephews house 1 mile away I have a 16 of freezer for when I purchase 1/2 of a steer.
Miss p that house is small but I've loved it that is the first held that I would say right now that I would move into that I would rent. Even though I like larger homes that would be perfect. And that price is fantastic for that location I think
Yes Pea, we in America love big house, love my 2 & 1/2 bathroom, but yes we Mahal our big fridge. I was in Duma Nov last year, so I saw what was there in Negros Oriental Cebu and Boho . But I love Dumaguete and I am coming back after the hurricane 🌀 season is over here. But don’t fault us for our extremely large TV’s I can’t stand my Tv under 65” but I didn’t watch no tv there. But I went to a few Filipinos homes, they also has 45” and up.

First time in the Philippines I drank from an old WWII well the whole time. I used a steripen though. It's an ultraviolet light you put in the water. So I used it for the whole family and left it with them. Didn't have a single problem when I was there.
Hi Pea; That's a nice place there. Being close to the beach is definitely a good point. Mainteance and water is not always included there in the Philippines, that's also a plus, as is having hot water. Also it's very nice to have a cooking option during brown-outs, everything has been very well thought out. And it comes with you handcuffed to the bed as well? lol. That's a winner in my book.
Another reason to live in Manila: The country’s capital, Manila, is the only place where tap water is considered safe and drinkable. Manila’s water guidelines are pretty stringent, and all tap water in the Metro Manila area is treated and purified. The Manila water supply gets sourced from the Angat, Ipo, and La Mesa Dams. The water from these dams gets transported to the La Mesa or Balara water treatment plants.

I'm with you regarding the animal sounds. Didn't grow up on a farm, but did grow up in a rural area. Friends had chickens, and when I lived in Hawaii my Filipina girlfriend's dad had them, too. There's something comforting about the sounds of animals of all kinds.

you can find similar for half that if you know the owners, those seem like tourist/retirement rates to me

I don't trust Alma at all. She found us a rental and said it was nice and in a safe rich area and the apartment compound was broken into 3 times. Then the owner put it up for sale then guess who listed for the owner ? Alma!! She showed the apartment to a few people and do you think she mentioned at all there was crime in the area and break ins? Nope Nope. It's all the money.
Does that home have no screens in the windows?
don’t trust anyone concerning business, renting, purchasing major items. the need for money is always an excuse for the bad people (emphasis the bad ones) to act. Crime, wherever a foreigner moves in, immediately it becomes a target for theft, you cannot leave your home unattended, so having someone at home is best way to prevent crime. CCTV doesn’t do much and good luck at getting local authorities to cooperate. The Brgy system is completely broken and if the person who broke into your home is in the same Clan as the brgy cpt, nothing will become of it, even if you have them on camera etc stealing your stuff.

We have a 30 cubic foot frig and a separate freezer in our house. With a second refrigerator in the shed. At my nephews house 1 mile away I have a 16 of freezer for when I purchase 1/2 of a steer.

Miss p that house is small but I've loved it that is the first held that I would say right now that I would move into that I would rent. Even though I like larger homes that would be perfect. And that price is fantastic for that location I think

I was in Duma Nov last year, so I saw what was there in Negros Oriental Cebu and Boho .
But I love Dumaguete and I am coming back after the hurricane 🌀 season is over here.
But don’t fault us for our extremely large TV’s I can’t stand my Tv under 65” but I didn’t watch no tv there.
But I went to a few Filipinos homes, they also has 45” and up.
Beautiful area and pretty house. Reasonably affordable for living there.

First time in the Philippines I drank from an old WWII well the whole time. I used a steripen though. It's an ultraviolet light you put in the water. So I used it for the whole family and left it with them. Didn't have a single problem when I was there.

Hi Pea; That's a nice place there. Being close to the beach is definitely a good point. Mainteance and water is not always included there in the Philippines, that's also a plus, as is having hot water. Also it's very nice to have a cooking option during brown-outs, everything has been very well thought out. And it comes with you handcuffed to the bed as well? lol. That's a winner in my book.
Another reason to live in Manila:

The Manila water supply gets sourced from the Angat, Ipo, and La Mesa Dams. The water from these dams gets transported to the La Mesa or Balara water treatment plants.

This is what I been waiting for to see something outside the outlying areas something more separate apart from the city and all of the over population bad traffic and grocery stores somewhere that isn’t that modern nor developed but that is still affordable and more natural and authentic this is right up my alley 😊
