Wow - When you started this I didn't think it would be possible to make it look so good. Your custom made part looks perfect. Another reminder to modify our stuff.
Awsome Work, keep on goin! We Car-Hifi guys always have to explain our hobby. I'm 42 years old and put a DLS Scandinavia 3 way frontsystem and a Sub controlled by Match / Helix DSP in my Prius. Most of my friends and family say i act like a stupid 18 year old, nobody need something like this in a car, because there is a factory Soundsystem. But the importand thing is: I LOVE IT
This has come up in talking recently with the car stereo place where I bought the gear. It could be younger guys these days are useless and don't try anything, or they have grown up with ear buds and don't really know what good sound sounds like. That could of course be connected with them not knowing what good music is like too. Then when they hear a good system, they can't believe what's possible. None of that stops me from doing it.
Oh believe me, I don't give much of a shit what anyone thinks. Tomorrow I'll play around with the speakers and maybe hook them up to the amp and get this thing wired onto the battery. I really waiting for some heatshrink to arrive before I can keep going properly.
Thanks for seeing this through on a brand new car with IMO already decent sound... I'm an audiophile and have just purchased the Seal since overall it's a really good car. Was also looking to improve audio though because of the doubtful quality in particularly bass / low-midrange.
@@TallPaulTech I used an Audison BitONE in the R34, did a scan of the ashtray, got a mate to 3D print it and then hyrodipped it carbon. Shame you can't hear it when the turbo and screamer pipe kicks in - but thats the price of doing busiess. Look forward to the next installment.
I hope Australian summer won't kill the glue. In the past, I remade the vinyl of my door card in my Honda Del sol, result look good, until summer ... Everything was peeling off. I tried 3 types of 3M neoprene. Nothing could survive a 35°c day with the car under the sun. Ended up buying used card in the color I wanted. If glue doesn't hold, I would suggest a Flocking Kit on the bare plastic.
My Leaf turns the volume down when reversing, but it only applies about -20dB it doesn't stop it entirely. I actually quite like it, but I'd be pissed if it turned it completely off all the time.
Nice work mate, turned out great👌 how do the DC chargers (that keep the 12v battery charged) in EVs go with the extra loads that multiple amplifiers put on the 12v system?
Don't know, but the Tesla worked for the past bunch of years with the same kind of thing. I'd say it wouldn't be anything too special, just monitor the battery voltage, and charge it up if it gets low.
Fuckin awesome video Paul, love it. I've been doing something similar today actually, back in my Mitsubishi mirage. I've got to improve the headunit mounting situation, and then an aftermarket speaker wiring harness converter was ageing quickly and badly (dropouts), so I snipped it out and just soldered it. Now to design a facia surround that moulds to the dash so it looks nice. I'll 3d print it in black ABS and vapor smooth it to get it glossy.
@@AirzonesBlasters damn straight. I worked up a facia in PLA to get the fit right in a prior build. For giggles and to scratch an itch, I left it in on a summer's day with the car parked in the sun. She gets all warpy melty that's for sure.
