    My Gladiator came with the cover. Ironically, I watched this video to verify removing the cover would be simple to install a Bestop for Truck2 cover. Thanks for the video. And my cover has been great for 3 and a half years. Through car washes and all.

    Just a little tidbit which you may have figured out already: when closing, if you leave the tail part flipped up until you latch the cover down, latching both sides takes much less effort. Once latched, then flip the last part down. I can get both of my latches to catch at the same time this way.

    That tonneau cover is now $863 at the link you provided...OUCH!!! I really wanted one of these but I'm not sure if it's worth that kind of $$$.

    Something of a warning for people watching this and thinking they can easily install the cover. Just got mine, went through the instructions and checked my bed. The front hols are missing the nuts. They are just open holes.

    • @ThatTimGuy
      @ThatTimGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine wasn't missing any pieces and the bed had threaded holes where things needed to go. *Ideally* it's just plug and play.

    • @ChowDaah

      Mine were missing. May have to get that nutcert tool.

      Had the same issue - 21's don't seem to have threads at the front of the bulkhead.

    • @rainmanx9114
      @rainmanx9114 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any jt built after 7/20 will have no threaded holes

      @@rainmanx9114 My 2021 Gladiator (built 9-20) DOES have threaded holes: Some in the front of the bed on the top part (where Jeep's OEM Trail Rails attach) and the top sides of the bed in the front and rear. IIRC, they're mostly (if not all) 6mmx1.0 (aka: 6M) sized hex-bolts.
      I used them to mount the 4 Undercover Ultra Flex bed-cover/rail brackets to so I could mount the rails to the brackets, and all 4 brackets DO use holes at are there and already-threaded for their 6M bolts.
      [The 2 front brackets use the only threaded hole there and a tab on the bracket goes into an unthreaded hole, and the 2 rear brackets use the 2 threaded holes there]
      Yes, there ALSO are "just holes" near the threaded ones with no threads, but I'm just saying there also ARE holes that are threaded in the Gladiator's bed and they're sued for mounting rails.

    How deep is your bed and do you have any tie-down locations inside to secure your load even with the gate dropped down?

    • @ThatTimGuy
      @ThatTimGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      17-3/4" deep and there are 4 factory tie down rings in the corners of the bed.

      The top material has held up well through the first New England winter. No signs of fading at the moment I'm curious to see if the latch mechanism is reacting with the metal bar it clamps onto though. I'm not sure if it's just a mineral build up from moisture or not. I haven't tried to clean it yet. The top also seals well and I haven't had any issues with water getting in. The material has stretched a tiny bit and will create puddles of water on the cover. In the winter this can turn into sheets of ice that are more difficult to remove. Overall, I like it so far. I'm curious as to how the aftermarket third party options are holding up. I like this one over the hard cover because I can still see out the rear window vs the trip fold model with it folded up.

    only need to undo one side, it unlatches both sides. when rolled up against the front of the bed, how do the straps lay against the underside of the cover?

    • @ThatTimGuy
      @ThatTimGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right about the latch! I didn't realize that when I installed it. What straps are you talking about? The ones that keep it rolled up? There is velco on the straps that keep it rolled up.

    Any idea on the weight of the cover? Under 30 lb? Also, did you notice any difference in gas mileage?

    • @ThatTimGuy
      @ThatTimGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good question. I don't know the weight off the top of my head. It's not super heavy. As far as gas mileage goes, I drive pretty conservatively and average about 21-24mpg. The cover has been on pretty early on into ownership of the truck. So I can't comment on if it's a gain or loss, but if you go back to the old Mythbusters episode about trucks and mpg, I think bed covers made it slightly worse.

    • @ThatTimGuy
      @ThatTimGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keeps things pretty dry. The truck stays outside through snow and rain. Any water that has come in so far was when I opened the tailgate.
