My Audi R8 V8 MK1 is in need of some serious attention, i would like to get it running mechanically right first before i start looking at the body work. But i soon find that alot of the wiring and electrics are also damaged! This Audi has seen better days for sure.

Legit the best car youtuber around at the moment. None of this bought my new 100k car, sold my 100k car rubbish. Please do not change, this content is so refreshing to see during the sorry state of TH-cam car enthusiasts we currently have.
absolutely agree... best car youtuber... the others, Lockwood, Jessie, jamieFYD have just ran out of ideas and their viewing figures show that. Really wanna see Matt do well here and I hope the sponsors are tripping over themselves to work with him.

Really don't want to watch channels that buy a car that is out of the normal guys reach and then throw another stack of cash at a tuner! All these cars are within most people's reach with a bit of graft. Awesome channel

Mat, any good garage that does air con will evacuate the whole system to remove moisture before gassing up the system so don’t worry about moisture ! Loving the vids mate, good luck to your 250K

also a r8 owner, and also a refrigeration technician here. You never want to pressurize with air. cause its contains mousture from the air and oil from the compressor. which is bad for ac systems. With a good vaccum and all the mousture gone. you willl be good. But next time. pressurize with nitrogen. it contains either mousture or oils.

Supposed to use nitrogen to check for leaks. Even 1ml of moisture will chew up the compressor. No fun to change!

When by-passing the brake wear sensors. Leave the connectors connected and cut and bridge the wire that goes to the sensor in the pad, then heat shrink the end. Keeps it all weather proof.
Vacuum pump to draw moisture out of the ac. Dead easy. Oil, recharge. Get a pro to do it. There is an official way to do it properly. Loving the videos.

To be fair, any garage that does air con should check with nitrogen first for leaks (I believe its nitrogen anyway I'm going back about 15 years to when I worked in a garage that did A/C), otherwise as you say you just lose the refrigerant gas 👍 and yeah if the leak was that bad anyway then moisture has definitely already gotten in there. If you haven't already put a new sensor in and re-gassed the car it might be worth looking into changing the receiver drier before you do (again from memory that's almost like a "filter" for the air con system which I believe is there to absorb moisture from the system)

Awesome video! Pretty sure your AC compressor will fail (not just because of the compressed air but also because moisture has probably been in the system for a while now) but that's great news for us because we'll get to see how you solve replacing the compressor without pulling out the engine like Audi recommends.

A proper aircon service will purge the system prior to re-gassing, which will remove any contaminants and/or moisture that exists in the system. Nothing to worry about fella!
