I bought a 2016 BMW M4 F82 which had been in a serious accident, causing some pretty bad damage. Ive bought a BMW M3 front end which supposedly is the same as M4 but later found there was a few differences. It seems the newer the cars the more complicated it becomes to rebuild them. I decide to tackle the full dashboard in this video!

Those bolts left are called spares 🤣 I normally have 10 bolts left out of an 11 bolt job 😬

tbh this is a normal process for BMW, Mercedes and Audi cars from 2015 and on, Mercedes even from 2006 and on. Still, noone knows everything so yea, props to whoever told him :)
I’m sure the DSG oil change process is pretty similar when it comes to temperature and running through the gears only thing is it’s simpler to fill with most filters and caps under the battery’s.

Seat belt tensioner in the belt plugs needs replaced mate that’s why airbag light on.

So at least one of the left-over bolts was to stop the wipers from swinging around :P

Mate I work for a company called airbagteam we could’ve repaired your original dashboard to keep the same spec, re-leathered it and it would’ve looked new from factory. We can also sort your belts out!
Couldn’t believe changing the light switch resolved the issue with the wipers and the other things. Freakin’ lucky:) awesome work 👍🏻
Your gonna have to change the seatbelts Matt to get rid of the airbag light, even if they work, they would have been activated with the front airbags going off, take it from me who have had to change 5 sets from cars with dashboard airbags triggered.
Don’t worry about the bolts mate - you don’t go into battle without losing a few men!

Restraint light is still on because BMW uses a blow off mechanism in the pretentioners that the seat belts clip into rather than in the seat belts themselves. It’s similar to the battery cable system you replaced. You could have got to them when you had the seats out.
Also Mat, as for the restraint system showing up you need a professional tool to clear the code, simple tools won't work because it's a safety feature. If the sign comes on and you change the part you have to delete the code!
The restraint lights are due to modules on side of the seat where the belt buckle clips into, seat belts be fine

I would guess at the seat belt clasps for the airbag light. They snap tight after an accident and shorten in length so need replacing.

Airbag light is on because you probably need a new positive battery cable as blow device has been activated and it's part of the SRS system.
Also, ACSM module (SRS) will have crash telegram data hardwritten to it. Some places can swap out and recode eeprom but normally you would replace ACSM and recode to car. Module is under armrest.
Mat just an FYI, you can buy the full leather dashboard directly from BMW. Great video though 🙌🏾
Needs to be original paint with a mirror like detail wrapping becoming common wheels in gold cracking job on repairing the m4
Respect 🙏. Its probably put together better than BMW would've done, mine frequently would come back from the main stealer with bolts/plugs missing 🤨
Love the vids matt! Maybe a simple mod to keep in mind is carbon tinting the shifter and the surrounding plastics

Jeez that dash removal looked a nightmare. I think I would have given up ages ago with this one.
I had to replace the seat belt buckle plug things and the battery wire in the boot and then clear faults to get rid of the restraint system warning.

For the airbags you have to have a diagnostic tool reset the airbag light and it should work hope this helps 👍🏻

Air bag warnings don’t go off unless you use a diagnostic machine to delete the fault codes

seat belts dont need to be changed but the seat belt tensioners (what the seatbelt clips into) do, that will remove the airbag error

Lol I done this on a 4 and 3 series 2014 only need to remove the steering wheel don’t forget to plug the 2 sensors for the key one is hidden in the cup holder bit
