    My small little town 30K people, (3 hours from next biggest city) just announced a WSHL team, and I’m actually really excited. It will be the first season. So I’m just looking up whet WSHL is about. Sucks to here that it’s poor calibre. But it’s gotta be better than our local Highschool team. So I’m still excited. Thank you for the video

    I’m going to be honest the USHL is at least on par with the NCAA if not better. The USA U18s play in that league and they have games against college teams all the time and they usually win. USHL=NCAA=Major junior

    Ncdc in Florida this year was crazy tho. So many d1 commits. Based off of this season I’d rank it #5

    • @ahadvising8
      @ahadvising8  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would agree that this year the NCDC was stacked due to the trickle down effect of the pandemic. Also, it’s important to consider that the CCHL and OJHL barely played this year, which made commitments trickier for them. But overall, those 3 leagues are still very close in normal years as well.

    What are your thoughts on the GOJHL? (southern Ontario jr. b leagues) it would be considered a jr.A league in my book. And last time I checked they are taking the OHA to court because they produce more OHL and NCAA players then the NOJHL. The league is riddled with quality players

    • @ahadvising8
      @ahadvising8  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s actually a good league depending on where you go. Some programs are great and practice regularly, while others only practice occasionally and don’t win very often. Therefore, you have to do your research before signing somewhere in that league. Last note, we didn’t include it on this list since we listed Jr. A leagues, not Jr. B leagues.

    Great video. Currently my son. Is graduating High School this year. We've had him on the NCSA recruiting site for the past three years and he's gotten quite a bit of ACHA D3 interest, and already offered a spot with UofM Flint and Oakland here in Michigan after their prospect skates. Then we had the ACHA D1 coach from George Mason reach out to us as well. The next skate is in the NAHL Combine, and also the Johnstown Tomahawks coach reached out via his NCSA profile, asking if he would be interested in skating for them in their pre-draft camp in May. Then , right before we leave for the combine, Belle Tire AAA u18 has their tryouts which I suppose could be another option. Considering the information in this video, it sounds like the NAHL would probably be the best route if he can make one of those teams?

    • @ahadvising8
      @ahadvising8  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends. If you’re ok with taking gap years in full time school, then yes, aiming for the highest Jr. League you can play in makes sense. That being said, if you’d rather go straight to school, ACHA D1 is also a good option. Feel free to send us an email if you want more in depth help with making this decision

    Do you have to play juniors to play in D1 or D3 hockey? My goal is to play hockey in college but AAA is also not a great option because where I live it costs $30,000 a year.

    • @ahadvising8

      Technically, you don't have to play Juniors to play NCAA D1 or D3 hockey, but almost every player does because it gets you prepared for the NCAA level. In your situation, I would say either find a prep program that costs less than that, or travel a bit further to another AAA team that costs less if that's possible.

    • @ahadvising8
      @ahadvising8  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We’re planning on making more videos geared towards women in the coming months! But for quick advice, we’d say find a good prep program to start at around 15 years old, prep for the SAT/ACT well, and work hard every day. In women’s hockey, if you’re good enough and are in the right program, your coach will do the work to promote you and get you committed.
