This reminded me of when Walker Garbage used to use Mack MR Leach Rear loaders for collection. I remember the helper would use a 95 gallon cart to collect 35 gallon cans and manual bins.

What's the story behind the backyard service?

eldery or anyone not able to lug a bin around use it. or people who dont want to put a bin out

it was a lot more common as the standard way to collect trash 75 years ago. for some reason the San Francisco Bay Area of California was a holdout till much more recently and this might be the last place out there like it, but you have to consider Piedmont is like the Beverly Hills of northern California so the wealthy population probably plays a role in its continued existence.

Can someone explain why they're dumping all the trash from one bin into another and then taking it to the truck? And why they're also walking onto people's properties to get the bins? Never seen anything like this before and I'm really curious.

You can pay extra to get them to collect from your property
