I’m glad to see I’m not doing it wrong. I’ve used the spray on Maxima oil forever just because it is so tacky. I’ve always worried I’m using too much but it looks like you use a little more than I do. Great video, keep them coming.
8:31 i learned the hard way, when i had my kx112 i overoiled it and it was running really bad because it wasnt getting much air
41 years riding, I too use grease on the seal. But I use maxima ftt filter oil, I put a clean plastic grocery bag down on the bench and do my oiling so the mess is in the bag. And I store 5 or 6 clean oiled filters in glad freezer zip lock bags so they are ready to go. I also keep a spray bottle of varsol or wd40 to clean the air box. Spray it and clean rag it out. I'm a believer in super clean spotless bikes, gives you a reason to really inspect the bikes. Varsol also removes exhaust spoog really good.
Awesome
@@highlandcycles i think I'm sold on that type of filter. I'm gonna order a couple for the yz250 and kx100
Great vid. I Always buy 2 air filters. Always have the spare one ready to go.
Paul Anstey for sure. Having two is key!
I like PJ1 filter cleaner and oil....ive used maxima products and the filter is still sticky after cleaning it.
It’s actually knead not kneed. Lol. Great vid. I knead to pick up one of those awesome filters!
MusicBox dang. Not great at spelling obviously. They are good.
I had a new No-Toil pre-oiled filter suck dirt on a dusty day. Not cool.
That’s why I hate that stuff
Similar to my method. I have a bucket of mineral spirits then I use a bucket of hot water and dawn (blue stuff) then hot water rinse. Not a fan of the spray oil though.
Good video
BergTE300 yeah the oil thing is a personal preference for sure. The oil I use ends up just as sticky as the liquid stuff. But you definitely need to let it sit for a bit for the propellant to dry up.
I use Naptha....
Why dont you like no toil? Uh oh i just ordered some.
Hi Morgan, i just tried to clean my filter with Gasoline (Benzine 95 in Thailand) The filter grew to twice the original size and fell to bits. lol. I take it gasoline is no good, or did something else go wrong.
That’s nuts! I’ve used gas a lot and never had that happen.
What's your favorite brand air filter? Thoughts on aftermarket? I cleaned my OEM filter and it seemed a bit beefier than aftermarket ones I have seen. Thoughts? I appreciate it!
I like twin air and funnelweb
@@highlandcycles Awesome thanks! Watching many of the shlog’s and they make me want to clean and oil my air filter before my next ride. Gonna do it
Why no no-toil?
It dries up if you let it sit too long. If you ride a lot and service the filter often it works fine.
Is it a sign I watch your shlogs a lot when I hit play and yell "DIRT BIKES" at the top of my lungs?
Hahahaha
You are gonna kneed to spell better!
That is for sure
I don't know about them Funnel web fillters i put one on my bike and it was running rich , i think this fillter is the wrong shape and it restrics the air flow its much smaller than the stock one
Hmmmm. I haven’t had that issue
