    I’ve always used petrol, cheap and works great, may eventually ruin filter after numerous times but the cost of a new filter isn’t much and you have saved time and money by not buying expensive filter solvents in the process

    I used gas for a long time, but switched to solvent when told it affects the filter. I use gas when travelling because it's readily available. I like your method. I think my foam filter distorted after using gas - so really careful refitting.

    I’ve used gas for years it works fine. If gas was going to destroy a filter it would do it while running gas vapor is at times forced back threw the carb or throttle body on a stall or throttle chop if the filter wouldn’t stand gas just that vapor would eat it alive so everyone saying it will destroy it they are designed to withstand gas.

    Keep 3 air filters. Run one with the other 2 ready to go. When the first one needs cleaned, swap in the new one. Cean the old one & store it in a plastic bag, oiled & ready to go. This way, you allways have a fresh filter, plus a spare.

    This should be titled "How not to clean an airfilter" or the cheap way haha. I use no toil and get a lot of use out of that 8 bucks for buying it. It's also safe for the environment. Using gas is not bad if you dip and squeeze then quickly put in water.

  • @shoefly757
    @shoefly757 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not saying it doesn't work, but the reason I don't like using gas is not because of the glue, but because it degrades the foam allowing bigger particles through.

    • @vegasromaniac

      I have done it 20 times and never saw any degradation...

    • @shoefly757
      @shoefly757 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vegasromaniac I'm not knocking it, I think you should do whatever is cost efficient and works for you. But the degrading would not be noticeable to the naked eye. Basically just when a tight cell foam starts to break down, the walls between cells open up allowing larger debris. Probably not a big problem unless you are racing in sand or silt.

    • @shoefly757
      @shoefly757 4 ปีที่แล้ว
