Hi Mark and thanks for the comment, I’m back out there today and I’m just about to go and purge the oil in the engine through the distributor so wish me luck! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers for now. ………….Graham
I can’t wait either my friend although I have to admit that I will be pretty nervous about starting it up but then again, it can only go one of two ways - let’s hope it’s the right way! 😉👍🏻. Cheers for now. ………..Graham
Good on you for taking the time to wait till you want to do it rather than feeling like you have to do it and not enjoying it/rushing because you just want to get it done, it will show in the end result and you’ll be happier with it because you did it how you wanted
Hi Derek and thanks for the comment, I have to remember that this is just a hobby so no need to rush it - just get it right so yes, you’re absolutely correct in what you are saying, I’m in no rush to complete it, I’m enjoying the build too much to rush it! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers for now. ………….Graham
Hi Graham. Nice to see you back on the Gentry again. Good news that it is not seized and the tyres still up. Looking forward to seeing the progression if we get a couple of good day this year!!! Sorry to hear you had issues to deal with. Such is family life. Cheers, Bob
Hi Bob and many thanks for the comment. It’s good to actually get back into the garage again after all these months and start cracking again on the Gentry, I’m determined to get that engine started this year, even if that’s all I can do then I will be happy. I guess we all have issues throughout the year, some more so than others but we get through them - eventually. All I want now is some decent weather please! 😂😂. Cheers for now mate. ……….Graham
Hi Paul and many thanks for the comment, I must admit that I was half expecting to see a mouse nest in side when I uncovered it but no, nothing at all !! Cheers for now. ………….Graham
Hello, Graham! It was great to see the Gentry out again. I am, of course, sorry to hear that things have deterred you from working on it. Hopefully, such things are on the good side now. Nice to see it had not seized up over the last 9 months, and you can get back to it as desired. It will happen when it happens. Such fine things require fine tuning. Anyhow, cheers and all the best to you and those around you!
Hi Anthony and thank you for the kind comment. Hopefully things are now back on track and I can start making progress again with the first thing attempting to get the engine started, that will be a major step forward! Cheers for now. …………Graham
Nice to see the Gentry again, Graham. Pleased it is looking good after it’s hibernation. I do like those aero screens. From personal experience, with advancing years it is often difficult to remember where you left off yesterday, never mind after several months. Looking forward to further progress. Best, Jason.
Hi Jason and thanks for the comment. 👍🏻. Yes, I know what you mean by remembering what you did yesterday let alone after 10 months. I’m going to have to go through all the parts to check to see what I have got and what I need to get - at the moment I haven’t a clue! 😂😂. Cheers for now. ………..Graham
Great to see your Gentry project on the go again Graham, I'm constantly amazed at your motivation, creativity and attention to detail in regard to your hobbies. Cheers Paul
Hi Paul and many thanks for the very kind comment, sometimes motivation is hard but you have to get out there and just do it in the end, after that first step then it becomes a lot easier and I find that I can’t wait to work on it again, and that includes all projects really. Cheers for now mate. ………..Graham
Brilliant nice to see the gentry again and exactly as you left it the engine turned over really smooth, i understand about things happening in life that can seriously drain you but onwards and upwards Graham look forward to some more updates when you get the time
Hi Martin and thanks for the comment, I have to admit that I was dreading turning that motor over for the first time since last October but I needn’t have worried, not only did turn over but as you said, it felt really smooth too. So onwards and upwards my friend, I shall be back out there again today diving in and out of the rain!! 😂😂. Cheers for now mate. ………….Graham
Thank you Rob and hopefully you will be able to see it first hand in a few months time and by that time I might even have the engine started! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers for now mate. …………Graham
Thank you so much for the kind comment Bob, that’s very kind of you. I’m going to do my upmost to get that engine running soon so you need to keep a watch out for future updates. 👍🏻. Cheers for now. …………Graham
Hi Onno and yes, the Gentry is fine, I was dreading uncovering it to see what may have happened over the winter months but all good! 👍🏻. Cheers for now. ………….Graham
Hi Davie and many thanks for the comment. The most important thing for me now is to get that engine running, I don’t want to leave it until next year! Still a mammoth amount of work left to do but that’s ok, hopefully I can make up for lost time. 👍🏻. Cheers for now. …………Graham
Hi ya Graham. I was just thinking recently about what was happening with the Gentry. And she’s still there, just as you left her. The dove was very impressed with your hand cranking. I very much look forward to your progress. Take care. Have fun. See ya next time.
Hi Norman and many thanks for the comment, I would often walk past the Gentry and say to myself I really must get back into this and it’s taken me all this time to do so but now that I have then hopefully I can make up for lost time - I really want to get that engine started up, that will be a big step forward for me. 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers for now. …………Graham
Great to see you back in the garage :) I suppose we will soon be nagging you to get back to Lakeside and finish that off !! ;-) Only joking mate, always like to see your videos no matter which project you are on.
Hi mate and I guess that’s what is good with all these different projects on the go - I can pick and choose what ones I want to do next! 😂😂. Cheers for now mate. …………Graham
Hi Des, you’re right, I did but I changed my mind and went for a 1500 spitfire engine in the end, primarily to keep the car as standard as possible for registration purposes - same registration number, chassis and engine, so the only difference when putting it on the road will be that it’s been re-bodied. That’s the theory anyway. I can always put the six back in once it’s finished and registered again, it’s on SWORN at the moment. I still have the six in the garage. 👍🏻. Cheers for now. …………Graham
Morning. You may find the 1500 is enough, plus as you mentioned in the past the balance needs to be considered. Presumably it falls into the no tax or MOT age as well if its standard when put on the road.
@@dessilverson161. Morning Des and the 1500 will be fine as regards having enough power, it’s lighter than the old Spitfire it came from so it should be ok, there are many Gentry’s out there with 1500’s in them and even smaller 1300’s and they are quite adequate. And your quite right, at the moment I can keep the original registration so no Q plate and of course, now exempt from MoTs and tax too. 👍🏻
I heard that the Q plate has been done away with and you just get a registration number which is applicable to the year. Might be wrong of coarse. Did you sort the UJ's on the prop-shaft?
@@dessilverson161. Hi Des, I haven’t heard about that as regards the Q plate, that’s good news if that’s the case. Yes, I had a new propshaft made up to the correct length which included new UJ and yokes at both ends plus it was all balanced too. Cheers for now. ……….Graham
Hi Graham good to see the Gentry again looking forward to the build process from here. Did I spot something on the inner edge of the front right tyre wall ? Regards Tom ps heading for Mykonos on Explorer of the Seas right now
