I have a 25 year old 721 that would surge and backfire and the carburetor just couldn’t be adjusted properly. Even tried a rebuild kit. Took a chance on one these cheap replacement carbs and it’s running like new again!
Sometimes you have to watch using aftermarket carbs especially those that are imported (dirt cheap) to the U S. They will usually be jetted wrong for our side of the planet lol. Motorcycle/AtV carbs are the worlds worse about being jetted wrong. Thanks for the vid thumbs up.
I have the 724 from 1986 and while I wish it would throw farther it's a beast. I used the non stick spray which helps a lot. One thing I can't figure out is the chute is loose and it turns on it's own and the will vibrate past the last tooth in the gear. Any one have any ideas ? I'm think the teeth are too worn and the worm gear similarly.
I have an old 724 like yours and it's pathetic, not enough for buffalo winters. Maybe I can tune it up to make the snow throw farther or I'm gonna get an Ariens
Working on an even older one that somebody messed with and can't figure out where where a wire goes that was loose under the carb cover. It definitely shows spark when testing. Maybe it clips onto somewhere by the handle bar levers? It looks like what's usually a kill switch wire on a newer one like this one and newer. Anybody can help? The machine must be older because it has an older style bracket over the carb but the rest is the same excluding throttle control. It's older and more complicated linkage.
I'd take care and do the maintenance on that old machine. I just picked up a newer (1995) 724 used and what a piece of junk that thing is. The metal on the auger housing is very thin and you can actually bend it with your hand. The same with the auger. I had to straighten it out in a few places and all that was needed is pair of pliers. The handlebars are bent a little and feel very weak. All in all, t's just made very cheap and I would not recommend buy one, even if you get a good deal on it.
I can’t see why you wouldn’t rebuild a carb. It’s a 2 dollar kit and a can of carb clean. Instead of waiting a week to finish a machine have it running in under an hour
All of those cheap carbutors are junk. You have to get either the Stens at 50 bucks, or the oem around $65. You paid 18 bucks for a few components and a 1 pound paperweight, they suck. The one you pulled off was the same thing.

Where did you get the carburetor?

Making your house in a snow blower sounds like a slightly dangerous idea.
The original carburetor didn’t look very old I wonder if it was a China dude...
Don't use cheap Chinese carburetors
