I have one of these with a bad engine. Predator engines won't fit because they are lacking the bolt holes for the belt tension pulley. Is there any work-around for that?
This is a perfect example of why taking inspection covers and guards off to inspect bearings and shafts to see if things are properly lubricated and working like they should. That way you're not replacing parts that could cost an arm and a leg down the road. Hopefully its just the bearing that needs to ne replaced and not the entire shaft assy.
Can you tell me how to remove a Toro 824 mdl 38540 ser 00000131 trannie from the machine, to try and figure out why it jumps from forward to reverse and reverse to forward?
@@Bigdaddy1992. Hi again, I was able to remove the 38540 Toro 824 transmisson fairly easy. 2 hrs for me as a unexperienced guy doing small engine repair. But very elementary after looking at it and examining which bolts and parts to remove. In the tranny, I noticed a small piece broke off on the slider which slides sldeways for reverse and forward but it still slides and grabs the two gears, So, the problem that I was having was that it would jump from forward to reverse or not move at all while in gear. I am going to weld the slider up to the forward gear because I don't need reverse at all, so It should suffice and stay in the forward mode. I'm sure that slider part is not available. There's 4 videos on You Tube showing how to disassemble the transmission and reassemble it. Sorry, no video on how I removed it but if someone needs advice, I'll elaborate.
Yep a lot of the parts looked wore out I wonder if it was in that shape when he replaced the parts he replaced I can't believe it worked last year. Thanks for sharing
You been watching Musti1 to much just kidding, great job, yes sir I would say your are missing a bearing . Boy did it have lunch on the shaft removed metal like a lath with a chip insert cutter.

Probably another plain bearing toro uses. I modified mine so it can be greased,, they won't last otherwise.

hard to say
I was hoping to see where the other end of the spring on the pivot shaft went too. My 1987 spring broke and where it attaches isn’t obvious
Good stuff
sorry i could not help hope you got it working
I’ve since found out where it goes. Also partstree.com is very good for getting parts.
@@nmaddog46 yes it is
What year is the snowblower?
mmm i bdont know late 70s 80s
@@Bigdaddy1992. The serial number is on a sticker on the backplate. 5000001 to 5999999 = 1985, 6000001 to 6999999 = 1986, 7000001-7999999 = 1987 etc
I don't see how it worked at all with the bearing being totally shot, nothing left to it at all.
must of made some sounds
