Had the privilege of seeing Brecker live twice while in college. While those performances were amazing, I do not think I have ever heard a more powerful solo than what I just heard - by Brecker or anyone else for that matter. I half expected the horn to melt! The sheer physicality of the solo, the technique, the systematic deconstruction of the melody and bringing it all back together are nothing short of amazing. Truly one of the greatest examples of post-bop I have ever heard. RIP Michael. You are truly missed.

John Mark Connolly I agree with you completely, thanks in no small part to the rhythm section - and piano player especially - absolutely killing it with the comping. I’ve listened to this solo for hundreds of times during the last decade and still get goosebumps.

I think what's so cool is that he's actually playing with the band. I'm listening, and every time he gets an instantaneous idea, it's either something he reacted to, or something he plays to get a reaction from someone else. As brilliant as Brecker could probably be on his own, that's where he chooses to go

There were some exciting moments here, Mr B found some cool ideas, I enjoyed the piano player's comping too.The only thing that could make this better is if Brecker was playing his Link:)

This solo is phenomenal, but his solo on this from the Infinity album will forever hold a special place with me.

Yes!! THAT solo is an absolute masterpiece! Coming to a bass transcription in a few years!😂

I love how, after the intensity built by guitarist Guy Nikkels, Michael takes it down to a simple motif and backs off in volume as well. Gives himself room to build. I haven't even listened to the rest of his solo yet, but already this contrast strikes me as the mark of sensitive, masterful musicianship. Kind of like . . . well, like Michael Brecker.

Mooie opname Louis. heb jij ook opnamen van zijn masterclass in den Haag ergens in de jaren tachtig? Dat was een geweldige ervaring.
