One of, if not the finest example of the use of a leitmotif. Musical storytelling at its absolute best. The track that tells the entire story by itself, without a single word being sung
@@KyuremPlayer This is the Time Gear theme that plays at multiple important later parts of the Story, not just at Fogbound Lake. You are thinking of the song Time Gear Remix that plays much earlier in the soundtrack. Google the full Explorers of Sky soundtrack to see for yourself.
@@dangerdwarf8833 Not to mention the remix is "peaceful, relaxing, and mystical," but still fairly ambiguous and vague, and the main theme builds on it, and keeps building, up until that signature portion, which is so powerful and profound, and exclusively for moments that are unbelievably significant and emotional.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon just... means so much to me. It has helped me grow and influenced so much of who I am. It has helped spur my own creativity, creating characters and a world of my own that I've come to cherish. It's helped me through dark times and taught me valuable lessons. Time Gear is my favorite piece of music in anything. It's mystical, ethereal, and I feel the power of the Gears. It takes my breath away and, just like the protagonist, makes my heart race. I'll never forget this game.
I've never seen people talk about this, so i just wanted to say this: The start of the final chapter always gives me the chills. Seeing "Final Chapter: The Last Adventure" hit HARD, even more so because this IS your last adventure, not only with your partner but in general: this happens right after grovyle sacrifices himself (already a sad scene, so you're already pretty emotional), and before that you learn that after saving the world, you will die: you knowingly go into the Final Chapter knowing that it's your last adventure with your partner, and the image at the start of the chapter just reinforces that. 10/10 writing.

Yep, best song in the game. At least for me. Not many games out there that give you a good story with good music, and I'm glad this game exists, best game I've ever played. Along with the rest of the PMD games.
Thats the time motif. It plays in sea of time, through the sea of time, dialgas fight to the finish, temporal tower and a few more time gear related soundtracks
Yes, I love how it adds to the song the fact that these gears wield the power of time in them. Also (this probably wasn't intended) the clock ticking brings out the urgency, the feeling that time is running out, all that stuff.
i can’t handle this song man my entire body is swarmed by goosebumps every time i hear it this is one of the most amazing songs in any pokemon game ever
This game and it's prequels had such a profound effect on me as a child to the point where it sticks with me to this day. Blue rescue team was I think one of my first DS games ever, before I even got into the main series games. I was probably only 5 or 6 when I got it and I didn't even know how to save so I played the caterpie mission like 5 times before I realized lol. There's something about playing games as a child that you can't really recapture when you're older. I heard abt explorers coming out and was so excited bc I loved the old ones so much and got it immediately. I remember my heart pounding when I faced Dialga for the first time, I was excited but also genuinely nervous, like I was the player character themselves. Sure games now can make me emotional but there's that adult part of you that knows the difference between a game and real life, but as a ~8 year old kid that part hasn't really matured yet. I knew it was just a game ofc but I was so immersed in it that I felt for the characters as if they were real. I felt like id actually saved the world. I think it stuck with me a lot, and even as I got older I would replay this game every once in a while. Not even the main line games, as much as I adore them, hold the same exact place in my heart as this and rescue team do. Idk what it is about it
This theme might be one of the easiest ways on this earth to make me cry. When the theme picks up, around 1:05, using not just the Time Gear Lietmotif, but the wind instruments and the explorer theme... It feels like a dam breaking. Like all the pent up emotion of everything you feel just builds until it spills out in a flood. Don't Ever Forget is the song that supposed to get you to bawl, but this will always be the one with a place in my heart that makes me wanna blubber incoherently.
"Yeah, it's sucks to be erased from existance when time fixes, and probably no one will remember me when I'm gone... but that doesn't matter an inch when the fate of the world it's at chance, and if my existance it's the cost of many many happy lifes of pokemon that many don't know me... That's a sacrifice I'm willing to do"
It's just absolutely phenomenal, not that this one track stands above the rest but that you can say that exact statement and it be true about over 20+ songs on this soundtrack. I love this game with all my heart and it's music is something else. There are countless upon countless tracks that move you and are a great listen outside the game. Most games can't say that, they have great music that sounds good in the game but aren't an easy listen outside of it. I can only name DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and Front Mission on the SNES for having a soundtrack that matches this level of sheer quality as it pertains to video games. Really deserves an award for how it makes its players feels.

Hearing this the first time with Uxie… I vividly remember all the Volbeat and Illumise flying around illuminating the area, it was so pretty. Such a mysterious sounding theme, but it’s really lovely to listen to.
This song is absolutely beautiful. That rising/crescendo segment literally takes your breath away when it hits. Easily in the top three songs of this game for me.
