The chef angle for Bobby makes a lot of sense. I do hope that his comedian aspirations aren’t totally lost tho
I could see him in a tepenyaki type chef role, cooking in front of people while cracking jokes
Its one of the few aspirations he had that hank enjoyed too. While I dont like the episode cause it makes Peggy look insane, the one where Bobby does home-ec is the most he and Hank genuinely bonded in the series.
As a classically trained chef, let me assure you, Bobby will be set for comedy working in a kitchen. The bigger worry is Bobby developing one hell of a cocaine addiction 😂
Yup considering he has shown a talent for cooking
I'd love it if he became the head chef at sugarfoots where he also hosts something like stand up/open mic on Friday nights
You got my wife (who has a masters in writing) stop what she was doing to listen to your speech about aging up characters. She was impressed and thought it was a very good point.
Peggy this isn’t middle school this is real life
If only my middle school self had heard that line, I'd have not needed so much therapy.
I work with spec needs students at a small town middle school and I admitted to the spec Ed director at the local ISD that “my life is easier if I just pretend that I’m in a cartoon.”
I mean, that’s an incredibly factual statement for many across the rural US 😂
Peggy, this isn't middle school; this is real life.
I haven't watched it in a while, but I didn't see Peggy's constant career changes as a sign of lazy writing or as just a way to reinvigorate the show. I saw it as a bored woman, desperate to be needed and admired with constantly changing/fleeting passions. It really reminded me of some people in my family (and to some degree myself). My dad originally joined the army and became a field medic, then he got into the car rental business, then car sales, he talked about going back to school to be some kind of doctor (but it was never the "right time"), then he found this accelerated low-cost teaching degree and he became a special education teacher, then the head of the special education department at that school, then he was sick of being underpaid and went back into the car industry but this time as someone who sold analysis tools to the dealerships. He also considered buying a custom t-shirt business for one summer, he's played around with the idea of getting his realtor license on and off for years, when he was younger he was interested in house flipping, and he is obsessed with the fantasy of having a food truck or restaurant but will probably never do it. Some people really DO get that restless
I think it was a fun thing to do for a season. The Arlen bystander job was a great arc she had and had lots of fun moments. But sticking her in a realtor position for the rest of the show just seems like a bad idea. It was a lot more fun when she interacted with kids at the school or did some things with Bobby. It was also hard not to feel cheated when she had some growth moments while teaching but never got her full-time teaching job fully realized.
You know the newspaper and realtor jobs were bad writing choices when most of the fans forget that Peggy stopped teaching partway through the series.
Also, I love the fact that Bobby isn't working at Strickland Propane in the reboot. Bobby has no interest in propane outside of two episodes, and in the dog poop one, he actively avoids the chance to work there. Plus this opens the door for some conflict between Hank and Bobby for the reboot since Bobby isn't on the career path that Hank wants.
Well, it's not a reboot. It's a continuation of the original series.
I don’t think it’s a problem though because it centers around cooking which we’ve seen Bobby fall in love with during the series like during the episode where he essentially took over for Peggy cooking meals and it’s like 2,episodes where he helps hank grill steak
6:32 In the series finale, Kahn does say that Connie is "three grades ahead already" so maybe she started focusing on skipping ahead in her last year of middle school?
Could have her skip high school and go straight to senior year. That way she skips out on high school drama and still has that last year to apply to colleges and get scholarships.
Man, I am HERE for the Peggy positivity on this channel. People just hate her, and like... how? She's really, really funny. Yeah, she messes up all the time. They all do. That's where the comedy of the show comes from, they're all ridiculous people trying their hardest. I think she's the funniest one most of the time. She makes me say "oh boy, here comes Peggy, and she's got a big idea! Uh oh!"
I wonder if Peggy will be more narcissistic or less narcissistic in the sequel to King of the Hill. It would be neat if she either mellowed out as Bobby became an adult or went batshit insane. lol
They could have Peggy and Luanne be in collage at the same time and that would have been hilarious seeing how Peggy would react to basically being an equal to Luanne in a way. 😂😂😂
Oh and Luanne would obviously be far more socially suited than Peggy which would also drive Peggy crazy. 😂
I'd like to see how Peggy's personality contrasts working with teenagers. Whether she'd shine or if she couldn't handle them
Idk maybe it's biased but I think she'd be great
I think a really cool thing they could do with Bobby is have him be a fusion chef who does comedy cooking style videos and streaming online.
It'd be a great new thing for him and his dad to clash over, it would tie his two biggest interests together, itd have lots of potential for storylines and commentary, and it'd both give Bobby a way to stay in the area and have stable work, along with a fun side that regular stand up wouldn't allow for as much.
I hope the reboot at least has some highschool flashbacks
Maybe not flashbacks, but definitely some stories.
You know Bobby had to have taught a bunch of other people how to drive
@@Bird-wz7nx he did learn at age12
Most likely. We had a handful of flashbacks in the original series. I don't see why they wouldnt
not a reboot, it's a continuation
The comedic possibilities would be endless with Peggy in high school
"we saw your foot videos Ms hill"
I take issue with the idea the racetrack is evidence that Arlen isn't a small town. I grew up 20 minutes from the MIS and most of the towns in that area are much smaller than Arlen. Racing tracks tend to be in the middle of nowhere because they need a lot of space for the track and the parked cars.
Arlen is def just "mini urban" like most of texas nearish the metroplex. All within an hour of a major city.
Itll be freeway, truck stop, strip mall, neighborhoods, farmland. And endless empty fields, all in a 15 mile range lol
Connie was a college-obsessed overarchiever because he parents drilled it into her that she NEEDED to be to elevate herself as a second-generation American. Her parents busted their butts to give her a better life, so she better act like it! That's the mentality. My mom was the first one her family to go to college, and my mom has been on us to be ready for it since I was in elementary school. The rule was always: one extra academic pursuit, one club (preferably with leadership opportunities), one sport, one instrument, charity/community outreach, and church. When I was in 3rd to 5th grade, I didn't get home until after dark most school nights. I started clubs and charities starting in 3rd grade. It was important to be a leader in elementary school because that will give you more opportunities in middle school, which gives you more opportunities in high school, which gives you more opportunities in college, which gives you more opportunites in grad school, which gives you the chance to be super duper smart and financially well-off and then MAYBE you can relax once you have an established career. She loosened up with my younger siblings, but she was tough as nails with me. I ended up getting an incredible scholarship for STEM PhDs, getting my first taste of independence, spiraling from exhaustion and overindulgence, and losing that scholarship at the end of my sophmore year
I think my busiest year was:
-ballet
-tap
-jazz
-piano
-violin
-lacrosse
-field hockey
-swim lessons
-dive lessons
-church youth group
-regular church
-occasional volunteering for church
-girl scouts
-a community litter pick up club that I started
-this theater competition that I was in
-occasional babysitting
-regular chores
I don't think I was in karate that year. And I don't think that I was studying pre-algebra at home independently yet. But those were around the same time
Dang, though as was mentioned by many people who are asian-american, their parents made sure that they studied their butts off.
All for the sake of gaining entry to college & a successful career.
I can feel the burnout and I'm not even an Asian-American.
@@msjkrameyDamn, that's a lot of work. How did you survive ?
@seeleunit2000 I almost didn't. Literally. I tried to off myself a couple times after I lost my scholarship because my whole identity and self-worth was shattered. Then I almost died from alcohol ab*se during the pandemic and ended up in a coma and had to relearn how to walk, use the bathroom, eat, everything
What is helping me be mostly okay is seeing the real, sustainable progress that I've made since my coma, and throwing away my previous perfectionism in favor of of something called "growth mindset," which it's about progress/incremental change, not perfection
I do think it would have been nice to have Peggy go through several different jobs, trying to find her footing outside teaching, only to have one job be the light switch at the end. Some job where halfway through she had to teach a co-worker and realize that no...teaching is her life. Teaching is WHO she is and being a teacher is WHAT she wants to be.
Honestly, I can see Bobby being a chef. Maybe he does it to pay the bills while still trying for his comedy dreams? Nobody ever made it in comedy over night afterall.
I feel like Bobby being a chef (or training to be one) works really well, especially since chefs need to know meat. They need to know how to cook the meat. Bobby working in a fusion steakhouse or some other meat centric restaurant would be perfect given the skills he demonstrated in To Sirloin With Love. Plus, him being a chef doesn't mean that he's given up on comedy. He could do stuff like hosting a podcast or youtube type channel. He could do shows on his nights off. He could be a writer or have some other creative outlet that involves something comedic. Hell, he could even be like Bob from Bob's Burgers and come up with punny names for specials... causing much confusion to Hank when he visits.
Being a comedian is hard, and since the only way I could see him being a comedian as an adult but still having the show be set in Arlen would be for him to have failed in a big city and needed to move home, I think I'd rather see Bobby keep comedy as a hobby and something that brings him joy. Being a chef is tough job as well, so he deserves to have something that he does just for fun.
Side note, if he does have a podcast or youtube channel passion project going on, it would be pretty natural for Joseph to be involved in production, since Dale had the short-lived radio show, which maybe Joseph got interested in later on.
My boyfriend is a chef and when we’re grocery shopping, I let him pick out the cuts of meat. Which means he takes forever squinting at them. He’s also very extroverted and when he gets a few minutes, likes to go out to the dining room and talk to the diners. When I said something to him about Bobby being a fusion chef in the reboot, boyfriend’s response was “Cool … how much you wanna bet that he’s going to have weekends off?” Poking fun at the fact that he never gets weekends off.
@@michiganscythian2445 Yeah, the idea of Bobby having evenings off on days when a comedy club would be operating is pure fantasy, but would still be fun to see Bobby do it... but yeah no way he's getting weekends off or most evenings.
"Drag racing track"
...
I can't even with this.
I think it’s a good idea to make Bobby a chef. It fits well with how he learned to help Bill with his BBQ and with his knowledge of meat cuts from the finale. It’s also pretty realistic. Many children will dream of doing one job and then discover their dream job later, like Hank did with Propane
Peggy Hill, they could never make me hate you. 😩
I just presumed that when Peggy was doing other things no teacher was sick or it was the summer so Peggy would naturally doing stuff.
I’m only 7 minutes in and I’m already wishing you were a writer on the show. It would’ve been great to see Peggy teach high school; and aging up her son and his friends adds an added element of character interaction and dynamics.
I love Peggy Hill, and I think it would be EXCELLENT to see her go back to college and really, truly grow. Imagine if in the new seasons, Peggy goes back to school as kind of a tribute or a way of dealing with Luanne’s death (which I assume will be written into the show), or maybe Peggy goes back to college as a way of dealing with the fact Bobby went to become a chef and didn’t go to college. ❤
Edit: oh my god, what if they do an entire episode of Peggy acting like the typical internet “Boy Mom” 😂😂😂
Does Luanne have to die though?
Maybe she can just idk move
@@juicebox7372 I mean, her voice actress is dead. Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty, the voice actor of Lucky, have passed on. According to the timeline, since Bobby is 21 in the remake, their kid would be about Bobby’s age in the original show. So making Luanne just “move away” would essentially involve sending three main characters down the memory hole. That’s a really bad idea, but then add that Johnny Hardwick has also passed on, so no Dale either, and that’s four main characters you’d have to essentially pretend all moved away for the reboot. That’s unlikely to fly, because it makes the other characters seem kind of unobservant, like “moved away” is just the show’s euphemism for someone being dead. In this situation, because KOTH is so down to earth, it really is a better idea just to have the people who have died in real life, have died in the show too.
I can’t believe I’m 12 minutes late for this video 😢
Your idea would make King Of The Hill an animated Friday Night Lights I would love it
She’s not my favorite character, that would be Dale but, Im always happy to get a video about good ol’ Peg leg.
If favorite king of the hill character is like a horoscope, I bet you’re an interesting person
Honestly while peggy does want to be right in all situations and even challenge god himself.
I can see her go down a young mother class to teach future parents basics like cooking ot taxes. She did a great job with luanne aside when she shot down luck
Heck she could also work on getting people GEDs and job opportunities too. Or even a farm hand. I was surprised she didn't really pan out to more careers and humble herself to wanting to give back
That’s a great idea. It would be so interesting
I would enjoy a theory video from you.
It would be great to see your perspective on how you believe the characters should have moved forward
Wait, There are MOSQUITOES IN ALASKA?!?! 🤯🤯🤯
They're basically one of those "Everywhere [Except Antarctica]" kind of phenomena biologists talk about, except with the additional caveat about water.
Supposedly they aren't in arctic environments but they generally still totally show up in the summer if its lush enough.
They're a pretty darn sinister genus
People joke that they're the real state bird.
@@Reviewed2DeathDear god…
Uh, Connie needing to get her shit together in middle school is the joke. It pokes fun at the hyper ambitious Asian family stereotype. It's absurd but that's the point.
I would adore a video if you talking about your predictions/wishlist for the reboot
If Peggy was at the high school maybe she could be teaching Good Hank or Gracie
Louane definitely should have been a mechanic.
Yeah, that was a missed opportunity
6:45 Connie wanting to shadow Peggy to get into a prestigious High school would have made for a better story.
Then Bobby could freak out thinking he had 5 years with Connie now he's down to 1, maybe start taking an after school theatre or acting activity to hope he gets in to the same school.
15:45 Connie and Bobby going to Hank Stram Academy instead of Tom Ladry High would solve the odd student issue too.
I can see the first day of High School now. Bobby and Connie got 3 of the same classes... none of the bullies made it to this school... Joseph got in without even trying thanks to Football... Everything's coming up Bobby. Sitting in Spanish 101... the principle walks in, Sorry class, your Spanish teacher won the lottery and quit last night, luckily we found a teacher just in time... ~Peggy in Fat Albert voice: Hey Hey Hey! Bobby in shock... cue title card.
@@TnT_F0X That would've been an awesome episode.
3:41 I can’t wait for the Pretty, Pretty dresses review 😂
Sadly, my favorite episode of the whole series 😭
Why is nobody talking about the absurdity of that AI image. Lol
Honestly surprised we didn't have a final episode on Peggy and her true career path with Realtor. Substitute teaching and such
Honestly she should have stuck to the book/jun store and run that entire situation with dale. Dale would have a steady job and they'd make a ton of money as the police even liked it.
It would show she's a true texan now as well as accept dale and not telling him about John redcorn. Dale meanwhile would be a better man and by the end of the series truly have won back Nancy since he usually gets her back when he's confident and stable
The “oh let’s say moe” is such an elite reference
Loved Digimon
DIGIMON DIGITAL MONSTERS
Same
Those Buffy references made my day. Also I think Peggy has proven she isn't conversant enough with any subject to do anything at a high school save for lunch lady or janitor....or gym teacher
Dude, I would have given my left arm for you to be my teacher back in school.
Keep an eye out for Moose Jaws. Hes like Jaws but a Moose.
"-and Daria"
...wait... She underwent quite the Metamorphosis in that image 🤔
My pedantry for this video is that the manga Dragon Ball never stopped being Dragon Ball all the way through the end of the Z anime, and that Dragon Ball Z was so-labeled because supposedly a new name means a new TV show means a new budget.
That said, I have never watched King of the Hill in release order because on TV I just sort of caught what I caught and I don't know that Adult Swim strictly played them in order. As such, I never really considered there was a period of Peggy's life post-substitute teaching and just considered her other little dalliances just sitcom episode premises. I can see where given that it would seem like they didn't amount to anything and you'd wish they hadn't gone down like that, but I guess they got some plot stuff out of them.
My only concern about the series having characters age in real time or otherwise not dealing with a floating timeline in the original series is if they didn't actually have anything to say about those age groups or what development would have been going on with them, it would have been a lot worse for it. Of course that's all just supposing, but what else are we doing here?
I would have loved a crossover episode where Peggy went on a placement at Highland High
That Futurama clip startled me. Damn crackling sounded like something electrical was going wrong.
It is 00:05 July 22, 2024. My 32nd year crystallized…. I have only just learned that Peggy is short for Margaret. Fuckin hell
I loved Peggy's stint at the Bystander, I thought all of those stories worked pretty well
Bro mentioned Dragonball while I wasn't paying attention and instantly got it back lol
To see Peggy struggle and show character development through her career would have been fantastic! One thing that I'd love to see is what happened to her ego if she met failure!
I just can't imagine peggy going back to school. She already thinks she's perfect and has nothing left to learn, so it's hard to see her allowing herself to be taught. Her ego won't let her admit she knows less than someone, short of something hyper-specific like knowing less than hank about propane
having Coach Sauers return for a school for former staff would be a good idea
And your widow? To shreds you say?
I’ve had a bad day. I needed this video right now. 😅
Love seeing my hometown of Fresno being represented properly 😂
This peggy story could still work in the reboot; just with luannes daughter and hanks brother
Peggy would love Twitter
I want to see a prediction type video for the new series so that we can also get a video where you compare your predictions to the new show after the first season ends. It’s like two videos out of one concept. Also I enjoy when people predict things and manage to be incredibly prescient or incredibly wrong. Retro-futurism at its best.
All I got to say is I hope Bobby is a chef on TH-cam who does comedic cooking videos
I'm still baffled as to how the hell Peggy managed to get a job as a real state agent and journalist despite not having a degree in either one of those fields.
17:26 I love reading Berserk cause I am starting to get these references, and even all the other things that play homage to it.
Luanne and Bucky's daughter, Gracie would be about high school age after the timeskip we're getting in the reboot. Maybe they had to leave her in Hank and Peggy's care indefinitely before the series starts and Peggy could be one of her teachers, if they want to go the teacher route. I don't think it'd be a step backwards for her to go back into teaching full-time after taking some time away. None of those jobs of hers in the later seasons were really satisfying for her or the viewers, maybe she just settles into teaching because it's comfortable and she knows she can handle it.
Come visit me in San Jose when you return to Cali!
Well cuz "no child left behind" hadn't been passed yet
Oh let's say moe
What I feel about your rant at 15:07 is 2 words: "Simpsons did it!"
Ivy schools don't do athletic scholarships, so Joseph would probably seek an SEC or Big Ten campus.
Always felt the next logical step was Peggy to fail up to high school status!
With the episode of Connie shadowing Peggy, she was only enthusiastic about it because it beat her cousin Changs squid boat. Connie was grasping at straws.
The thing to remember is that Peggy's not stupid, but her ego makes her come off that way. She does seem to genuinely care about educating her students, though, and making her classes engaging. It makes me wonder why she doesn't get her teaching license.
Coming of age stories are some of my favorite stories.
Also, as a longtime sub like Peggy. Teachers would have been pushing her to become a full time teacher as well. It’s just the convo that happens with other subs and teachers. I like that direction of her going to college, she could still have taken over Suagrfoots and Hank could’ve taken over by the end of the dumpster murder episode. Cause that’s still apart of the side quest storyline. I like when Peggy was doing other jobs we got to see more of Arlen. I didn’t like how she had to keep failing or wasn’t good at the job, I always thought it was because Peggy was being pushed to be a certified teacher 😂😂!!
For the high school?
Job fairs come to mind
Some sort of community service
Soft Reboot on the job shadowing thing
Helping with school things, like they allude to in the haunted house episode
If Bobby's a chef then there's definitely fertile ground for like a lunch staff/lady episode and/or feud, possibly do some jokes at the expense of Jamie Oliver's old tv specials, have HIM be a substitute teacher for home ec while his place of work is being renovated, etc.
Reunion episode wouldn't be BAD but I think Bobby and Co. might be a little young for it
Episode of Bill being a para-educator who gets stuck in the library and (in Bill fashion) messes it up
Peggy browbeating the others as she tries to campaign/create the impression that she is more competent when she sees and opportunity for the next plateau that an educator might aspire for (adMINIstration!) when a principal or VP job may be threatening to open up
Something with John Redcorn having even MORE non-marriage kids could be funny and sad
Honestly, you are really fuckin funny my man but without being annoying. Props, I watch tons of your vids
Keep the beat, keep the beat, keep the beat of the beat
Metronome, Peggy. A machine that keeps a beat is called a metronome. In Spanish it’s Metrónomo…
In Peggy Spanish it’s probably Meterönomas.
🤪
Yes, that's the joke.....
Oh man I am LOVING the Dead Riding OST!!
I'd watch that theory video.
Wouldn't mind the show putting Bobby and crew into high school at the later seasons. Don't really see Peggy going into high school as a full time teacher. You can still keep the Connie as teacher's aide with Jr high teacher.
@14:47 HOW DARE YOU SIR! but i agree. i think pushing the crew to the High School level in the later seasons would have been a much better track for them
LMAO that DR meme at the end. enjoy your like
Someone I chatted with online when I was 15 ( circa 2003/4) was supposedly in an advanced placement magnet school that gave college credits to the highschool students for their regular classes in a capacity that was greater than the average advanced placement classes (she could have been full of shit for all I knew) and I remember trying to convince her to slow down and relax and that there was time to earn college credits in a couple of years when we were college aged. But she couldn't be dissuaded.
17:23 omg did dexter's lab make a dune reference here? lol
17:30 DUDE I FUCKING LOVE ADVENTURE TIME, STEVEN UNIVERSE, BEN 10, AND JOJO!!!!! LITERALLY MY ALL TIME FAVORITES! I love them so much!!! Ive made so many random ass videos for them on my channel :> I fucking love you Mr. Death, makes me so goddamn happy that we have such similar tastes! If you go into my older videos you can see my longer collection one and there’s an art print I had commissioned in it featuring a couple characters from some of those shows that I think you would just LOVE. I named it “Heroes of Heroes” you’ll definitely be able to tell what it is once you see it :3 phenomenal video as usual man, I’d love to see you talk about any of those shows in some videos down the road too! If you wanna see someone do a super in depth breakdown for Ben 10 the Ink Tank channel has some super in depth videos for it and they are all the way into the fourth series already! Thanks again man 🙏
Peggy would never have studied or sat for the PRAXIS exam. She'd probably fail it anyway, especially if it was the Spanish exam.
I wish to move to Alaska one day and get out of the city
Student teaching isn’t generally a paid gig and I dont see Peggy or Hank being cool with Peggy doing unpaid labor for 4 months or a school year depending on state.
Honestly I can easily see why the writers would get bored with Peggy.
There's only so many jokes and storylines you can get out of "Peggy is an incompetent narcissist" after all.
Though the idea of having more of a time progression with Peggy securing a full time job teaching high school and Bobby etc as students is genuinely interesting. Certainly it'd be good for a few funny episodes.
Not if you can do it right. Emperors new school nailed it for several episodes
congratulations on your grad work. thats impressive. dont get mauled by a moose
Definitely want to see a theorizing video!! Enjoy Alaska and watch out for vampires
Miss you, homie! 🖤
Ricky Suggs
19:55 I feel like they should have made him a pro golfer because of the Willie Nelson episode.
dont forget...she was briefly the mother of a god to billions of asians
Hot take here. When you say that being too predictable isn't a good thing, I do agree with that for the most part. However I think alot of good things have been ruined before by writers and developers simply because they see their original idea gets picked up by fans before it's officially revealed. It's one of my pet peeves as of late. Think of something like Dudunsparce in Pokémon. They made it essentially a joke evolution (the damn drum roll is in its name) instead of giving us a cool potential-unlocking beast of an evolution.
Emily will have plenty to do as Connie's girlfriend in the potential revival
Don't let the polar bears get you!!!
I think high schoolers would be too ruthless for Peggy
High schoolers are a lot more settled down than middle schoolers so maybe it would be ok
I’d enjoy it
@@MaxOakland... Have you forgotten what high school was like ?
Its so hot out today I didn't catch a single word
