Edit: PART 2 TO THIS LIST OUT NOW: th-cam.com/video/BUpdk-cr7zg/w-d-xo.html
Since TH-cam removed the dislike button, I'll keep you guys updated on how many dislikes the video has here.
    9/21/22 Dislikes: *4,000*
**Also I'm aware Pip is a parody of Great Expectations. It doesn't make it a better episode in my opinion.
    Excel List: www.dropbox.com/s/2jlbiw6rj47l2x3/South%20Park%20Worst%20to%20Best.xlsx?dl=0
So this video took 3 months of consistent work to make, but to actually upload it took closer to 4 months due to rendering issues I had(which caused the audio issues in the first half), as well as an instant copyright strike when I uploaded it, so I had to dispute it and wait on a response from that. So even after I finished the video it still took another two weeks to actually make it public. I'm just glad it's over tbh, and I appreciate the support from all of you!

      I have a question
Would you like to think of South Park episodes featuring certain characters
I wanna play a game with you
I give you a set of characters that you have to make the focus of an episode or a multi part episode
Despite your thoughts on said characters you have to make the episode work and improve the characters and their dynamic if needed

    • @mustafasalman7147
      @mustafasalman7147 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I’ll give you a few sets of characters that you could try and make an entire episode or multi parter out of
      Set 1
      Bebe,Heidi and Wendy
      Set 2
      Craig,Jimmy,Clyde, Token and Tweek
And this can also be done for individual characters as well
      Character 1
      Chefs parents
      Character 2
      Cousin Kyle
      Character 3
      Mintberry Crunch

What makes "Scott Tenorman Must Die" so impactful isn't just Cartman Being Cartman, it's that it was really the ORIGIN of Cartman Being Cartman. Before that episode, Cartman was mostly characterized as "the whiny fat kid who says words funny and begs his mom for stuff" and was kinda pathetic and the butt of jokes more than anything. This was the official transition of his character to being the scheming, violent psychopath we know him as today.

In the grand scheme of things, “Tweek X Craig” is fine where it is. But the fact that the show creators literally blew up Deviant art after finding out about the shipping culture behind Tweek and Craig by requesting actual yaoi while also being one of the most wholesome episodes I can think of makes it in A tier. Also the $100 gag and Randy saying “we’ve only had a Whole Foods for 2 weeks and we already have our first gay kids” will never get old.

I feel like it's worth noting that Isaac Hayes leaving the show was not of his own doing; after Isaac suffered a stroke the church sent a letter tendering his resignation from the show, and a lot of other decisions about his estate were reportedly made during that period. Isaac went to Matt and Trey to have them pull the Tom Cruise/Scientology episode only for both of them to realize that he was sent on someone else's behalf to have the episode pulled. However, the episode already aired and they hadn't told him, which gave him plausible deniability. The Church of Scientology absolutely ransacked his estate and his son stands by the fact that his entire resignation from South Park was done without his knowledge and on his behalf without his consent, citing that he didn't think of himself as any better than the people they poked fun at in the show.
I don't know how true any of it is, but given that it was son's account of the problem I doubt that he was lying about this issue, and given how cult-like the entire Church is, it does not at all sound far-fetched.
I imagine this doesn't absolve him in anyone's eyes, but I think it's important to have proper context on the issue. Isaac's name was dragged right through the dirt and it does not at all sound out of character for the Church to completely destroy someone's life like that in retaliation.

I think The Poor Kid is so good not only because of the “strictly agnostic” bit, but because it also shows Kenny’s relationship with his sister Karen; her calling Mysterion her guardian Angel is really cute and wholesome to me.

That one is definitely pretty good. For me, the episode I would rate much higher is "Insheeption". Not sure if anyone else agrees as strongly, but I've always considered it one of if not my personal favorite. It somehow balances parodying Inception, Hoarders, AND Freddy Krueger all in one insanely absurd way that only South Park is really capable of. Not to mention it actually contributes to the lore of the show by adding more depth to Mr. Mackey's character than any other episode. It starts off building stakes, goes off the rails entirely, and then ends with an actually great and unexpectedly deep twist ending that's satisfactory after all of the nonsense. The cherry on top too for me is the humor, the Sheep herder gag, Randy being Randy, poking fun at Hans Zimmer music, and the amount of random people who all go into Mr. Mackey's dream for various reasons are all funny to me. Underrated af imo

In the context of watching it as it aired, it was pretty hilarious. Especially random lines like "I'm going to put on a pirate costume!" The thing with the T&P episode is that, at the time, it didn’t matter if the episode was good, bad, or somewhere in the middle. It’s a classic because the joke was the fact that it existed. The show had basically just blown up, and people were so psyched to find out who Cartman’s dad was - the hype was in the “Who shot Mr. Burns?” ballpark… and then South Park just let everybody know we were all dumb for thinking that the answer to the question mattered. I think on first watch I didn’t even pay attention to it much; I went to the computer to hit up some of the old message boards or chat rooms or wherever people talked about TV those days. People were MAD, and the whole time there was speculation that the “real” episode would have to start eventually…. And then it just never happened. It’s hard to rank the episode now, and it almost belongs off to the side somewhere, but it’s a huge piece of the history of South Park.
Great video btw… I’m still in the 200s but you’ve caught my attention and I’m going to watch the whole thing.

Personnaly, the cynicism episodes hit me like a fkg train. I'm an ex-alcoholic and the ending of Stan drinking a little whiskey before going on with his day, implying that's just his life now, really fkg hurt, and it's relevant in A LOT of ways. Legit made me cry. It's pretty accurate, the fact that normal is just not an option, that life is just bad because of something you're born with and that you're incapable of happiness without help. I was self-medicating for a major mental health issue and I got sober once I got treatment, but it's implied stan is just going to keep drinking, keep the status quo and nothing is going to change. It's really really hurt.

I can't believe you agreed with SP's stupidest take. The motivation for the crime SHOULD influence the sentencing and the rehabilitation process. If someone kills a black person just because they are black, then every black person is a potential victim, the killer is a danger to society and you need to correct that during their time in prison. If someone kills a person because they caught them molesting their child, yeah that is murder, but it can be safely argued that the killer was never a danger to society, that they acted out of anger in a very specific and extreme set of circumstances and maybe their sentence shouldn't be that harsh, the rehabilitation should involve learning anger control perhaps.

The Pip episode is pretty obviously based on Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. The poor design is meant to reflect how the characters in the book looked. I do agree it's still bad looking though but seeing as 90% of the people in the book were pieces of shit I think making them abhorrent in the episode is fitting.

i think part of what made south park’s peak so good and why to a certain extent they dont recapture it as often in new episodes is that in the golden era seasons matt and trey not only have funny concepts for episodes that they use to forward celever political commentary and good writing/subtexts, but they also just have a consistently really good grip on TIMING, hilarious situational comedy, and dialouge in order to actually have the establishment of those ideas pay off and reach their fullest potential. it’s not only that they’re coming up with funny ideas but they’re writing the episodes in a way that lets the absurdity of those ideas be written in a way that makes it felt very impactfully and also be delivered in a way that’s very unexpected to the viewer. always sunny is another show that nails this style of writing. for example, in sarcastaball, yeah butters creamy goo is a pretty hilarious gimmick, i laughed when it was first introduced, but the part of the episode that is WAY funnier than the actual concept itself is the ending where randy goes to drink it and just pauses for a moment and says “this is cum…..” and then the episode abruptly ends and the sarcastaball league gets shut down with butters angry dad’s dialouge of “PEOPLE ARE DRINKING YOUR CUM BUTTERS? YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF” the prime seasons have this on lock as every episode is loaded with scenes like this that make the most of every funny idea they come up with. nowadays the episodes are still good as they have a lot of really funny, creative and witty ideas but don’t always execute on those ideas timing-wise. part of this is also an inevitable consequence of taking the focus off of the four boys and making the show more serialized.

dude the past couple of seasons had political BS smeared way too thick all over them. i really hated how matt and trey jumped on the anti-trump band wagon and made every jab at him they possibly could to the point where the episodes literally became cringe material, and this went on for 2-3 seasons straight. i loved "where my country gone" because that was the only light hearted episode where they were poking legit fun at trump, but then post-election where it turned out trump won, you really start to notice how they go from being humorous to plain spiteful about him.
ironically, Trump actually made the closest thing resembling peace with North Korea, but south park clearly don't see it that way, to them, trump is literally an ignorant war mongerer who is out to try and start a war, when everything that actually happened in reality is literally the opposite of that.
see, this is why i hate those god awful seasons, because they cause me to get political like this as well.
a subplot from those god awful seasons i also really hate, was the Heidi-turning-into-Cartman-thing.
for many reasons, but mainly because they turned cartman into a pussy. one line that really bothered me in particular was when mr mackey said "she is kinda like cartman, but with the ability to carry through" as if we all didn't watch "scott tenormann must die" or other similar episodes where clearly cartman comes out as the winner, which just makes that line genuinely stupid on part of the writers. its like they forgot how to write their own character and how they used to write him.
there is this looming feeling of the show saying "step aside cartman, its time for better-female-cartman" with every episode that features Heidi.

@@ZugzugZugzugson Even in the brand new post-covid show they mocked Trump as "that idiot" or something to that effect, I forget the exact words, but they jumped out. Then there was the tons of abuse heaped on the guy who "selfishly" refused to take the vaccine. As you say, they're now 100% on the woke bandwagon. The final 3 seasons were unwatchable, and the only good satire in the new episode was of the sentient form of Alexa -- her appearances were the high points of the whole show.

@@user-qv3xs1li1s Yeah I heard that about China, I'm sure that was just thrown out as a red herring. We have yet to be told the true origin of the virus, because only Butters knows the secret and they've confined him to the asylum until he reveals it. In fact it ended by saying that they are going to do something drastic to force him to reveal it. So the China thing is irrelevant, just a red herring. I suspect Eric Cartman lies behind everything, and this is all an elaborate plot of his. But at all rate, that evil doctor in the asylum is going to force the secret out of Butters.
You are ignoring the vicious attack on Trump, or you somehow missed it. You are ignoring the vicious attack on anybody who doesn't take the vaccine as "selfish". You are ignoring the basic premise of the whole episode that wokeness became the norm in society, to the extent that anyone who isn't woke is a pariah. It's not a matter of whether I agree with wokeness or not personally. It's SP's assumption that the opponents of wokeness are a tiny minority destined to be wiped out soon. If you look at the elections last month, you'll see that's not what's going to happen; America remains split 50/50, and will continue to remain that way. This SP future is a really warped, self-serving idea of the future based on false assumptions that the victory of wokeness is inevitable. No, dude, it's not inevitable.

The ending of Stanley's Cup is the funniest part of the episode. The whole episode is a parody of Mighty Ducks, and in the end scene, where the kids are supposed to overcome adversity and win the big game - they get completely wrecked by adult hockey players and celebrate in place of the kids who were supposed to win.
