That ring in your trans pan was a clutch from one of the gears. Definitely going to need a trans or rebuild. Cool old truck

Yeah I ended up finding a c6 for $500 and now she's about ready for the road!

It's a 5 digit odometer. Last digit is a tenths. So depending on if it's rolled over or how many times it has. It's either 65 thousand, 165 thousand, 265 thousand etc.

I would loose the K&N inline filter, It's gonna cause fuel delivery issues especially if it gets clogged up. If you're worried about rust just run a large mesh filter that gets rust flakes and all the big stuff but leaves the little stuff for the actual spin on fuel filter that way you're not crawling under the truck because the tiny inline fuel filter clogged up before the spin on one did...
Baldwin fuel filters are junk, its like running an orange Fram oil filter, just a bad idea. My favorite Fuel filter is the "WIX Filters - 33417" Its the best filter for the 7.3IDI and I run waste motor oil through my 93 IDIT and have had no issues.
IDI engines are blow by factories, they come with lots of blow by from the factory lol, its because they have such a large gap in the piston rings it will make a low mile engine seem like it needs a rebuild.
Just have your C6 rebuilt if you can, most places will do it for under $500 or around that price, they are super simple to work on.

Good job dude I was amazed it was yellow underneath those crusty valve covers

Thanks! Yeah I’ve got them sanded down and I just clear coated them because after a while I wasn’t really liking the yellow. Thanks for watching!

Blow-by in the high compression diesels is common. These aren't modern diesels and so the rules are a little different from Power Strokes.

Man, someone beat the stuffing out of that C6 trans. They are a very tough transmission.

Pour a quart of marvel mystery oil in the crankcase and in the fuel and go take it up a steep hill a few times, then change the oil, that'll cure your blowby.
