I really learn from you and it gives me the confidence to try this stuff myself. Especially since you always include the "why".

BTW Your video actually helped me figure out where the wobble was from when I watched the steering wheel go up and down. I missed that one. Parts on order. I got the 640 model.

Thanks for this video! Will be doing this soon. Always good to see it being done first.

It's not a bad job and it's great to have proper steering.

You know I use a little gasket maker on all the shims so I can over fill it and I haven’t had any leaks and I also put some grease on the splines on the steering wheel and then when I put the steering wheel on I put gasket maker on the bottom of the washer and then on the top of the washer and then the eggcorn nut so that the rain water can’t get in and if I have to take it apart again it’s much easier .
You should keep your eye out and if someone in your area that might be parting out a 1950-52 tractor and you might be able to get a sector shaft that’s in better shape.Keep that old iron running!😀🇨🇦

I ended up doing the same and sealing up the shim area. Now everything gets oil and no leaks. My sector shaft ended up being ok, I just didn't have it shimmed right. Steering is great now.

That throttle pedal assembly is worth some money. Think that is a made by the Dowden company.

Yep it is a Dowden pedal assembly. I put it on the shelf and may make a new bracket for it sometime.

Damn good real world repair here. Very well explained. How much gear lube did you end up force feeding that ole girl.?

I didn't really pay any attention. Just filled it until it started running out the screw hole on the front of the steering column below the wheel.

Did you put in the plug before the lower race? Or the race then plug? I just disassembled mine, found upper bearing is disintegrated, but lower race on the shaft is chewed up, so looks like I have to get a shaft/ball nut assembly as well.

I put in the race then the plug but I'm not sure it matters.

Where did you buy the rebuild kit from??

I picked all those parts up from steinertractor.com. If you don't have a shop manual yet I suggest getting one. The I&T manual has exploded diagrams and factory part number that makes it super easy to find stuff.
