That screw is the shift lever to change direction. If you take it out you'll have to take the whole lower unit apart. If you try to do it without you WILL mess up those soft threads.
No, as it's designed to fill from the bottom it will bleed the air out of the top. If you fill it from the top it will trap air in the lower unit which will cause lubrication problems.
how about the spark plugs ? and does it need a new filter I have a boat like that and I need to service it it hasn't got serviced for 2 years the guy who I got it with .. didn't use the boat for 2 years

So if you are filing from the bottom until it comes out the vent, couldn't you pull the fill cap in and fill from the vent?
