Use the best snug fitting screwdriver to prevent problems. Keep new seals on hand, I buy a 6 pack at a time. They are crush washers, usually only good for a time or two, any question - replace them. Some replace them every time, your choice. Keep spares!
Somewhat. The only change yes. I have to add oil to my reserve. My motor is oil injected so it pulls from the reserve and mixes it with my gas automatically. I just have to make sure there is always oil in the reserve tank. This isn’t the case with all motors though.
@@PrestigeWorldwideFishing quickest response ever👊🏽 screw looks good, threads look good it just won’t catch to start tightening. Nothing looks stripped. One screw keeping me off the water😂🤣 story of my life!!!

I don’t know for sure, but my guess is either should work. The 90 high performance is typically for bigger motors because they are going to run hotter.
Hey bro, I just bgt a boat with 00' merc 90 2 stroke. Trouble starting, crank np, firing up hard. After fishing nd moving same problem. Bogging when finally starting, runs good when running up lake. Ne ideas wld b appreciated..
Sounds like fuel issue. I would change the fuel lines, fuel filter and spark plugs. Also, make sure you are only running non-ethanol gas. Probably wouldn’t hurt to run a couple cans of seafoam through it to clean out all the carbon deposits. Do seafoam after you have changed the lines. Good luck and let me know if that helps. If you’ve seen my “voltage regulator” video, I have a similar problem, but mine doesn’t seem to be fuel related.
Lots of options on Amazon. Not sure what your motor is but here is a starting point www.amazon.com/Washers-Compatible-Mercury-Outboards-Mercruiser/dp/B0C27LTPG2/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?crid=3AD6GQJC4193B&keywords=mercury+lower+unit+oil+seal&qid=1693017686&sprefix=lower+unit+oil+seal%2Caps%2C146&sr=8-5
I'm having same problem as one of your subscribers.I cant get any more in it and its not coming out of the vent.I squeezed in about a half of quart so far and cant get anymore in but it's not coming out of the vent..
You may need to attach a new quart of oil. At least on mine that straw isn’t very long and once it loses suction it won’t pull oil through. Once it’s full it will come out vent, it doesn’t have anywhere else to go
I have the same motor and I'm going to change the oil tomorrow while the boat is docked in my slip. Tricky thing is that the boat is in the water, But the motor when tilted up is out of the water and I have access to the drain plug. So hopefully everything goes smoothly and I'm able to change the oil as the boat sits in the water lol 🤞🤞
The best video I have seen on this procedure and I have watched about 8 videos. I am now a subscriber.
Thank you! Really appreciate the feedback!
Just got a 2001 triton with a 225 Mercury a few months and was wondering about this. Perfect video thank you
You bet! Appreciate the feedback
Simple and to the point thank you
Happy to help and appreciate the positive feedback
EXACTLY! Refreshing!
Thank you!

Thank you for the perfect video. It was the easiest I’ve ever watched. You explained it perfectly. ❤❤❤
Really appreciate your comment. Glad to help…. People aren’t always so nice on here
Excellent
Hello is this the only oil change you have to do. Does this cover the upper part as well eg pistons.

Have you ever had problems reinserting the filler screw mine will not tighten and it doesn’t seem stripped.
No, I haven’t. You don’t have a double seal on there or something making it not want to tighten up?. Maybe try and order new screw?

Dang man, that sucks. Hard to say without being there. Did you try yelling curse words at it? Sometimes that works for me

Can I use Sae 90 high performance in my 40hp 2 stroke? Or should I use 80w-90 instead
I don’t know for sure, but my guess is either should work. The 90 high performance is typically for bigger motors because they are going to run hotter.

Can someone please tell me where I can buy the seals

For example if I take off my drain screw and leaving the vent, but it still comes out fast why is that?
Honestly not sure. Guess it’s fine as long as everything else checks out ok.
unfortunately you either have another 'vent' which is bad maybe the prop seal. Or your oil is highly viscous due to perhaps water.
I'm having same problem as one of your subscribers.I cant get any more in it and its not coming out of the vent.I squeezed in about a half of quart so far and cant get anymore in but it's not coming out of the vent..

Don't forget to spin the prop a few times when you refill the oil, you'll get a couple more pumps in

😂 that does sound very tricky. Might need to get a buddy to hold the oil pan for you. Good luck!
I’m refilling the new oil and the oil does not come out of the top hole. Mercury 20hp 200 1978
You need to keep adding oil until it does. Oil has to fill up that lower unit gearing and when it is full will come out of top hole.
My screws on their freaking tight. I’m a little worried about stripping it out.
Any luck getting them loose?
Why wouldn’t I just fill from vent?
It will spill all over you most likely because the air can’t escape.
Thank you now I know how to change my 85hp force ! I love my 83 capri ❤️🚤
You bet! Good luck!
