What is the gauge thickness of the metal in the safe walls, and on the door? (Just checked the Safemark website and It says the body is 13 gauge and door thickness 1/4 inch, but that depends on model, but looks like a match of what you've got).
It would be great to see some slow motion videos, too. Like, if you know the 500 grain is going to stop at the second safe, why not record that in slo-mo? But, your videos are cool regardless!

The paint chipping off (diameter) is due to many factors. The 700 grain is a wad-cutter configuration, so it cuts through before maximum deformation occurs. The fact that the circle is bigger shows just how much more force and energy the 700 imparts as it penetrates. Try thicker metals. I've shot a lot of things with grains from 350 all the way to 700. Things don't always react the way you expect them to. I quit doing that because it was costing so much money. 200 rounds of 700 grain is a sizeable investment in wrist problems and flinching habits. I did build up a nice recoil pad on my right hand palm, though. Looks like my thumb is sprained.

A one oz. shotgun slug is only 432 grains- so even the smaller bullet was a beast!
TAOFLEDERMAUS shotgun slugs still hit harder then 500 sw, more muzzle energy.

The 700 grain 500 S&W magnum uses a gas check on the base of the hardcast bullet. Not jacketed but a shallow copper cup nonetheless.
