      It's funny how guitar players react to nice guitars, or rather the owners of nice guitars. When you see someone with, say, a Ferrari you don't expect that the owner can drive like a prime Michael Schumacher, but with guitars there is still a sense that it's a tool and needs to be in the hands of someone who can use it to its limits. In the car example, I don't think it diminishes the cars that much that they are sometimes driven by, say, a very successful dentist.

      I can't imagine anyone preferring the Floyd bars with the collar nuts over a push in arm.
      The bars with the collar nuts suck a$$. Even on the OG Floyds. They always have play in them, unless they are too tight.
      I changed that out on my Floyd too. Relatively easy mod, though.

      Note: I’ve owned original floyd rose trems, I don’t think anyone would be able to tell the difference between a german floyd vs a 1000 if it’s not labeled.

    • @itsalwayssomething7490
      @itsalwayssomething7490 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought the Jade recently, have it for a week now. I bought one because of this video, actually. It's so much nicer in person, it's so metal. Sounds and plays fantastic. I called Sweetwater and asked them for a deal on the price. It ended up costing a bit less than $2700, but that is after tax, would have been almost $3k without me asking. I would ask your local shop for a deal and walk away if they don't give you one. They want to sell the guitar, so they tend to work with you. It's still expensive, so I get that even with $250-$270 off, it's still pricey, but everything helps. You can always finance the guitar and pay under $100 a month, which is what I did. Good luck, I hope you eventually get one.

  • @TurbulentJuice
    @TurbulentJuice ปีที่แล้ว

    Only problem with the Floyd 1000 I've found is the collar for the trem arm wiggles loose quite quickly unless you like your trem arm to dangle freely. It's quite easy to change out to the 1500 version that uses a hex screw to clamp the arm down OR the redbishop magik arm (I think thats what its called) stays tightened down and feels perfect. Also when doing a setup you can take some Chapstick brand Chapstick and gum up the knife edges or something else really tacky.
    Otherwise, once broken in, they are great trems!

    Straight to the top of my list (the hardtail version). I hope your prediction is right and they make it a mainstay in the lineup. Having this beast as a limited edition run is crazy. And an SE version would likely outsell most others, surely?

    • @itsalwayssomething7490
      @itsalwayssomething7490 ปีที่แล้ว

      I asked Sweetwater whether they thought this would be a SE version at some point. It depends on the demand. People wanted the McCarty SE version and it took many many years to get one. But, the Silver Sky got one really fast. Both guitars are great selling guitars for PRS, so who knows why one took years. I guess it's trying to figure out how to make a $4000 guitar for $900. I hope they make the SE Dustie Waring for people that can't buy the CE. I bought one because I couldn't wait to find out. I love it.

    I’d say this is my favorite currently available PRS. Everything about it looks so sick. My ONE personal preference: I absolutely love maple fretboards. Arguably and possibly more than ebony fretboards. That being said, I really do enjoy a natural headstock when it the guitar has a maple neck and fretboard. That’s the one aesthetic gripe. For me - match the headstock to the body, or match the headstock to the fretboard.

    I have a ‘97 CE that was on tour for years at Oz Fest, Vans Warped Tour, etc. It was pretty beat when I got it, but it cleaned up well and I compared it vs my friend’s 513 10-top, and I preferred the feel and tone of my CE.
    I also have a ‘92 EG with triple dominos, and a prototype piezo in the saddles. Awesome blues/rock/clean guitar.
    My third PRS is an SE, but it’s the one with a neck thru (not set neck), active emgs, and a Floyd. It absolutely chugs. The neck doesn’t have that broken in feel like my CE or EG, but it’s an import, and does the metal thing real well.
    I can’t say my CE doesn’t do metal well, bc it literally was on stage with a metal band for years! I think it does blues/rock better than metal, but obviously it can handle metal at a professional level.
    The really fancy $5k+ PRS look like art. I wouldn’t buy one to play though - just “too nice”. So I get why people call them dentists’ guitars. My friend has a private stock - it’s nice, but he doesn’t play it much. I’d love a Dragon III, but I wouldn’t play it.

I actually have an extra OFR that I've been meaning to put on this because it's literally a drop-in replacement. I just haven't felt the need to do so. The FR1000 and OFR specs are identical, and again, the FR1000 is solid af. It seems like the natural progression and growth path for more Dusty fans to get their hands on "his" guitar, even in SE specification.
    I'd love the green in hardtail as an SE.
    They can get a more-than-decent quality SE and move up to the CE as they graduate and become Dentists. 🤣

      You’re describing most of us who learn “pieces” of their songs lol. I remember first learning Selkies in 2006. I’ve since went on to relearn it probably 6 times in the ~17 years that I’ve been playing it and jamming to it. I’ll get my chops up after playing for several months straight and then remember that I forget how to play anything that I’m not frequently going to. Those guys are something else as far as players go

    I’ve owned half a dozen SE custom 24s, a USA Custom 24, and a CE 24 over the years. The CE IS WITHOUT A DOUBT the best guitar I’ve ever played. The feel and playability have me face palming all of the time, and I currently own a SE Mark Holcomb PRS. The CE really is something special

    • @SaintKines

      That Mark Holcomb is a special guitar. Mark really put together a lovely and rare spec wise guitar with that thing. I didn't know I needed such a flat radius until I played it. For me it's so comfortable and its not easy to find a guitar that beats it in its price range.

    • @narcostarko
      @narcostarko ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SaintKines it is the best purchase I’ve ever made honestly. The flat radius really lends itself to playing better than people imagine at first. And the neck profile. Good god. Tell me why every time I pick up this Mark Holcomb I feel like I’m holding a trident. All the weight of a les paul(which I own a dark knight les paul sitting right next to the Holcomb) but perfectly balanced in a far superior playing instrum

    Thanks for what was probably more great content (I am subbed for a while now) but I don't give eyeballs or $$ to PRS; lots of other great guitars out there, I'll be just fine.
