  • After a detour to make improvement modifications to my Facebook Marketplace, Harbor Freight 36" Sheet Metal Brake, I'm back finishing up the bracing and supports on the cockpit of my 1927 Ford Model T touring hot rod on a Model A frame with an 8BA flathead V8! Now that the brake works so much better I bend up hat channel and U channel, spruce them up with some speed holes and really add some serious strength to the front compartment of the tub! So follow along and maybe subscribe to the channel if you haven't already!
Plenty of challenges to face when building a low budget hot rod project so subscribe an follow along and learn from my mistakes! (Believe me, I make plenty of ‘em!)

As always, my video is just a guide to how I do things. If you decide to undertake such a project on your own, you are responsible for the results. Do your own research, make your own decisions, you are responsible for you and you assume all liabilities for tacking your own projects.
    About me:
After some MAJOR life changes I'm finally working on my hot rod!
And yes, I mean hot rod. Not a street rod, not a rat rod. HOT ROD!
I'll be building this as a traditional build but not to a single time period. I'm building a car that would have been constantly modified from the 40's in to the 60's. My goal is to use all parts from before 1966 (the year I was born).

Just an idea... You can use the stretcher on the hat flange. You will need to stretch the "vertical" of the flange with a body hammer and an I beam or anvil of some sort directly next to the stretched flange. That will result in the wide section just warping to fit. That will work especially well with the twisted action you need at the corners.

@@clarkmarkey1498 Thanks for the ideas Clark, I’m definitely going too explore different methods when I go to do the rear section!

You pulled er out. Maby next time instead of forming the complete hat channel...stop at the first 90 then shrink or stretch...then a tipping die for the next 90. Or....make it as you did...then slice to contour and weld up.

Shrinker/stretcher & tipping dies is the plan for the rear. When I started the front I didn’t have all the tools so I just improvised. I’m hoping the rears will go faster and easier!

Thanks Vino, they’ll be expose for a while yet, it’s going to be quite some time before it’s ready for interior and I learn to sew!
