All these episodes with bespoke artisans are fascinating. It's a real privilege and a joy to experience the depth and breadth of knowledge of these incredible creators. Please keep making these types of videos Kirby, they're such a pleasure to watch.
I really enjoy watching master craftsmen at work. Watching someone who is at their prime, one can observe how their confidence, experience, and intuition come together and aid them in their task. Great video, Kirby - thank you.
As an Italian, I love his French direct approach - just shut up and let me teach you, if he was British it would be 20 mins of small talk and tangents into how he once found a shoe inside a tree.
@@scottinbristol Idk if that is polite, I think its just a cultural habit. For example in having a waiter have small talk with you for 20 mins when you are trying to have dinner with your family is considered very rude in other countries
Did you ask about external factors? For example, does he only take measurements in the mornings or afternoons, or if he takes that into account along with other possible factors as the temperature or humidity that day?
Same here. I would be very much interested in seeing what type of shoe he makes for him and how comfortable he feels after all this detailed foot measurement. Good stuff 👍
Cris Yorke Sadly, no. I don’t have any immediate plans to be back in Paris this year, and I hate to stretch these out too long. But I’d love to have him do something. His work is amazing.
Philippe is very professional, i can tell from how he measured your feet. I believe he’s a great shoemaker. How much does it cost to have a shoe made by him?
This guy really knows his stuff - glad he was respectful of your Cleverley bespokes, though! Looking forward to meeting you eventually at the Club (I asked D W to send you my email address)
happy543210 Funny you say that... Philippe actually had an over-zealous customer drop off a cast of his foot for Philippe to “keep as a reference.” Pretty funny. But not really useful as a master’s experience and intuition.
Yeah, I'm not sure about the intensity of it...I kind of liked the jazzy intros, a bit less serious and classy. Getting it right just hard though, I assume he will iterate on this further. I think a shot of him walking in a suit in paris would be better than the shot with the cap (hamburg...dunno not a hat guy).

This is just absolute fabulous! Someone who actually understands shoes and feet. WOW!

Glad you liked it! Greetings okuyama
Philippe Atienza... so legendary.
The Michael Jordan of bespoking.
best 14:00 mins I've spent today. Solid content. 10/10

Yeah we're all like that in France... The only moment where we'll have a small talk is around a beer at the "Apéro"
@@twistedpivoter2695 which makes sense, there's a time and place for everything

Wow this is awesome. Really enjoyed this. Great work.
"I look to the bottom of your soul" Wow, that got heavy quickly.
Client: And so how do you incorporate the differences between....
Maestro: AND IF YOU TAKE OFF YOUR FEET
Lol that was so cute 😅😅
A lot more feel, or instinct, involved beyond measurements which was unexpected, very interesting
It is 03:00 in the morning and I don't know how I got here
The Foot Whisperer. Amazing! Semper Fi
Now this is science of shoe measurement and fitting 👌

Absolutely fantastic. A master. Thanks
I love the accent of Philippe Atienza, it reminds me of Peter Sellers in the pink panther...
Great video of a true artisan.
Cant wait..
I cant wait to see what style shoe he builds for you, I do know that Italians like there shoes to be extended.

Great new Intro music and video, heroic!
Wow, master 🔥🔥🔥
That's the way I measure for making a last.
I have seen videos of other makers taking measurements with the feet off the draft?
Kirby loves having his feet measured
Very interesting Kirby, thank you for the video.
Actually relaxing 😂😂😂😂
Fascinating
Are you commissioning Philippe to make a new bespoke shoe while filming a series?
Cris Yorke Sadly, no. I don’t have any immediate plans to be back in Paris this year, and I hate to stretch these out too long. But I’d love to have him do something. His work is amazing.

Christmas Horse Thanks, it worth the price lots of work involved in bespoke shoe making. Painstaking job.

Comes soon June 3 ☺️
That introduction though. Sounds like an epic movie.
why not just cast a mold of the foot with silicone and hard resin?

I heard Kirby got to second base once.
The new intro is wacky as hell kirby 😂
Very interesting video though thank you!

6:03 -6:09 Must feel especially worse being interrupted there during filming?
It's generally unnatural to be talking on camera, so this kind of stuff just happens.
ASMR brought me here
I'm waiting on the Unintentional ASMR community to find this one. Seems it's a hidden gem. And an acquired asmr taste.
He is a Sherlock of shoemakers..
I’d like to have navy shoes for war.
Btw, great work!
I'm gonna write a relevant hashtag here; maybe it helps other fellows to find the video by the algorithm suggestion:

He may be French and legendary, but he wears legendary American Levi's jeans. High five!
Drives a Harley Davison to work every day Alison
I just spent 14 and a half minutes watching a guy getting his feet measured. I have no idea how I got here.
Same.....what am I doing with my life
That poor guy's knees, ouch!
I was hoping this would be more asmr-ish
why does nobody ever let Kirby speak?😂
French are direct and no nonsense.
British are indirect and add some nonsense.
I'm not sure phillipe has enough experience.
That intro....lol
I'm surprised how many French I see have Spanish surnames.
Because they are
If i hear the word bespoke one more time im gonna lose my shit.
Walter White is a shoemaker? WOW!
*why is this in my recommendations*
If he notices you wear a very cheap 2 dollar sock he may sudgest you go elsewhere .. maybe Shoe Express.
That’s 14mins I’m not getting back!
Wow... the privilege, it burns
